Im away from home at the moment so thought id just try playing my healer solo for something to do, and holy shit I havnt pugged in prob over a year and didnt realise just how bad some people are.

Thought I would get a 10 man group for nax, after replacing about 4 people who just decided to disconnect without even saying bye before we had a full group, I finally get 10 people together with the right healers/tanks etc.

I really cant be assed inspecting / amorying everyones gear/spec to make sure they arent complete retards. I assume people would have some resposibility to at least half gear themselves before attempting something like a 10man.

The pally healer couldnt even keep the off tank from dying on trash, then the main tank would just run in and pull mobs while people are at half health mana etc, the DK tank wouldnt even throw down death and decay so i would occasionally pull agro off and end up running around like a headless chook for a few seconds until some twit realised hey maybe I should taunt this mob. I check the offtanks gear and hes still wearing dps trinkets and other shitty pieces of gear.

We painfully finally get to patchwerk and holy shit what a joke our dps was. After 2 wipes our pally healer finally realises how to half heal our tanks so we last a few minutes. Im almost OOM after awhile so decide to check Patchwerks health and weve barely scratched him haha. I asked if anyone had recount and 1 huntard just scraped over 1000dps on him, i checked his gear and sure enough 95% greens and obviously no clue how to play his class. Our highest dps was a rogue who only just made 2000dps but mouthed off the whole raid about how pro he was basically just carried on like one of those elitest wankers who you come across watching #trade etc. I cant understand how 1 guy playing a rogue in semi decent gear can only just scratch 2000dps with raid buffs, when my shammys make around 2500 with no buffs on just a shitty castsequence that really isnt even timed for effieciency or anything, just throwing off spells willy nilly.

Needless to say I appreciate my multibox group alot more now, I didnt realise just how lucky I was being able to walk through 3 or 4 heroics without a wipe and just log off with no stress lol.

I went into a heroic vault pug earlier this afternoon and out of the top 10 healers I came in 4th, and that was the first time ive played my healer solo, I didnt want to go changing any actionbars or keybindings cause i didnt wanna screw it up for keyclone when I got home so I just threw about 6 buttons on a empty actionbar and clicked away for the fight. I honestly thought id be near the bottom and lol'd when I seen i was one of the top healers for the raid. I only consider myself a casual player and im not pro by any means, I thought I was bad but damn... this was just a good reminder why I started multiboxing.

I can see why people say the raid content is easy, easy enough if you have a guild maybe, but if you want the next level after heroic try PUGGING it haha. thats the last time Ill try.

Anyone else got any terrible PUG stories.

Oh sure I have one for you.
I actually started boxing so I could raid more. (To get all classes to 80 so no matter what I had what they needed)

Took my tank into a 10 man Naxx, they already had two quarters down so as soon as I walked in I was locked to the raid ID.
We cleared trash for Instructor Resuvious and they asked if I had ever charmed before as they always have the tanks do it.
Since my main is a shadow priest I told them I had done it many times on 25 man so it was no big deal.

We wiped a couple times, one was a DC, one was a glitch with the other warriors MC, no big deal at all.
But then I looked at the healing meters as it seemed our add tanks were dying too quickly. We had 3 healers, the priest who was lowest died early to a stray dagger, no worries it happens.
After I mentioned that to him the second one, a shaman speaks up.

"I don't know what was going on, but the rogue was at the top of the heal bot and I could not get a heal on him at all"

The great part was that we were talking for 10 minutes how we were going to 9 man it because the rogue did not have a flying mount and the stone was camped by alliance.
So yea, found someone not smart enough that when his errors said the target was out of range, to understand he should heal a different target. Like the one he was told he should be spam healing.

EDIT: Oh yea, I was the pug btw, everyone else was from the same guild.

lolwhut?

Thats epic luls. Some pugs work, some don't. I'm fortunate to be in a guild where we don't ever pug raids. Many guilds are not so lucky. I do laugh though when people try to pug 15 spots for heroic naxx, then the next day they're qqing in trade about terrible pugs.

Occasionally I pug to remind myself why I don't pug.

I PuG'd solo last night on my priest from way back Pre-TBC. (Lol, no ones seen the T2 set in a looooong time.) Anyway, they let me come as shadow......1st time actually running as shadow in an instance. Idk, mobs were dropping sooo fast. Only 1 wipe at the end and that was during the escort quest. It was too too bad. Imo, DK tanks don't really absorb hits all that well, he kept aggro nice so idk.

Lesson: MAKE ARMORY YOUR FRIEND. Inspect people carefully. Don't be afraid to drop out of a pug before you get saved to something.

I love pugging, it lets me roll on anything and everything without feeling guilty and I don't have to spend DKP (my main guild). This week I:

-- cleared Eye of Eternity 10 & 25 (Malygos) on my elemental shaman IN A PUG. I just got lucky to be on when a good raid leader needed 1 more shaman for lust, this is the 2nd hardest encounter in the game and I feel lucky to have done it on my shaman. I even got the chest from Malygos25 (only shaman in raid, lol), best elemental shaman chest piece in game! The MT was a feral druid with 54k HP (LOL) and over 10 people in the raid were doing over 6k DPS in phase1/2, it was crazy.

-- cleared naxx25 in 3 hours on my resto shaman. The raid leader is someone I have pugged with before, he is ruthless about booting people out of the raid who do less DPS than the tank, go AFK without notice, or die to dumb stuff like thaddius/etc. We did military wing first (smart, make sure priests can MC before you lock to raidid)

-- cleared 3 wings in naxx25 on my prot pally over 5 hours. Horrible raid leader, didn't know what he was doing, talked nonstop in vent about dumb things, brought a ton of his friends who were all undergeared and horrible players. We started spider first which is always bad sign. I left after 6 wipes on Thaddius, and added the raid leader to my friends list with a comment "NEVER GROUP WITH AGAIN". I have 30+ of these kind of comments on my friends list.

-- cleared obsidium sanctum/VOA heroic on all of my characters, all 1-shots. Its good to play on a server with a ton of skilled players who mostly like to PVP and just PVE to get gear.

I don't pug as much as I used to, mostly due to time constraints (I don't have time to run instances with my friends, let alone randoms), but I did do a couple recently as a healer. I cannot believe what some people think passes as decent tanking gear. It's great when you struggle to heal a tank and then inspect them to see a fair amount of level 70 gear (bonus points if it's not even epic), plus a healthy (or not) dose of dps gear, I think I must have missed the memo about crit being good for tanking...

And this is before you get to the inability to hold agro on more than one mob at a time.

There was one 'character' on my server who used to (try to) organise pug raids fairly regularly at level 70 (he was often shouting in trade about instances), not sure what happened to him, but I did join one of his pugs and it was definately an experience. Along with all the caps lock and no clue how to play his class (or any other for that matter), he was adamant that the group should be set-up in a specific way. This way had the healers in the same group as the tank and the melee dps + hunter in a group with the spell casters - what a fantastic way to get people the buffs they need for the job (before the whole raid-wide/buff stacking came in). What's worse is he didn't even put himself in a beneficial group for his class.

Additionally I love it when people try and get an overlevelled group for certain instance (LF more Kara - 75+!), particularly when the person advertising is below the level they are looking for :)

Just one thing, but sorry, healing metres mean jack shit. The end.
