Heroic DTK and Heroic Gundrak bosses

Made a video of my runs through Heroic DTK and Heroic Gundrak today with my team (1DK 4 Elemental Shamans).

On the DTK run I made a couple mistakes - lost a shaman right after novos died because I was too lazy to do 1 last chain heal before downing him, and on Dred I accidentally hit my follow macro half way through the fight (oops). I've overlayed some inspirational music (because I forgot to record the actual WoW sound). Hope you guys enjoy! The videos are just of the boss fights as I wasn't able to get a happy medium between file size and video quality for the entire 25 minute run of each instance.

I liked it, and now that I have seen that place, I want to do it with my DKs...

Have not ran a DK/Shaman team, only a Paladin/Shaman team, how do you like the DK replacement?

I find a DK to be about 1000x more fun than a Paladin. Back in BC I tried to level a paladin to use as a tank. After running a few instances I was just so bored with him I gave up and stuck with 5 shamans. Once WotLK came out and I realized having a tank would make things a lot easier, I decided to roll a DK and see how it was. Turned out to be super fun and provide a lot of utility as well, and if I ever single box the DK is insanely more fun than a Paladin at both tanking and DPSing.

So the short answer is, I LOVE the DK compared to a Paladin :)

I have a paladin at 70 I used with my Alliance side with my 63 shamans... But I quickly got bored of him.. Just seemed kind of.. dull.

So after I get this team to 80, probably going to use one to tank for my shamans. They are sitting at 72 (Horde side). Quest are easy to do, but for some reason they can't do the Dungeons in Wrath. Mostly due to the fact that they just have quest gear, nothing from any of the "high" end dungeons, so their HP/MP/Gear is not the greatest.

Nothing special. I probably won't be able to do anything but quests with them because of their said gear.

Very cool man, I appreciate you sharing this. Quality was good for the size, I could make out exactly what was going on. I was going to suggest putting in a little bubble with what tactic your using, but i can easily see what your doing so not really necessary.

I also run DK tank with 4 shaman, but have been using one as resto since I started heroics but that may change after watching these vids. What glyphs are you using? because it almost seems like cheating to be using 4 healing stream totems lol. I ran out and did these heroics using healing streams with the glyph and it made some fights so trivial that i could do before but not with such ease. Found myself using the resto to DPS most of the time on bosses.

Even using the same spot as you on Novos, i still get those annoying adds till i down the 4th handler and pop the bubble. Was that just luck or is there something I missed to prevent them from coming down?

Would be nice to have all shaman elemental for when I PVP as well so I think ill give it a try and see how I can do with other heroics. Only thing I see that might be a problem is the really heal intensive boss fights. Having a resto spamming LHW with the earth shield glyph is helpful for those.

I need to get some video editing software to be able to put strategies in the video I think - right now I'm just using Windows Movie Maker. I will look into some software.

As far as Novos goes, I'm not sure exactly because maybe 1 out of 4 times I fight him with that method some adds still come down the stairs, but not a lot of them usually just 2 or 3. It seems like you have to be exactly centered where I'm standing - if you're too far to the left or right adds come down the stairs. But, its not too big of a deal - I drop the mana springs so I can kill whatever I need to kill and end up with full mana before I fight novos, then I drop 4x healing stream as soon as the Novos fight actually starts.

Glyphs, right now I'm using healing stream glyph, lava glyph, and flameshock glyph. I need to figure out how much the healing stream glyph adds to each tick to decide whether to replace it with the new Lightning Bolt glyph or not.

I'll be making more videos soon :) Next I'll do HoL, and once I can get the 25 min timed CoS run down 100% of the time I'll make a video of that :) I ran heroic UK the other night but didn't do a video of it because it was rather boring and I figure most people don't care much about UK, but maybe I'll do it just to add it to my collection :)

Is it possible to record just a portion of your screen? I software box on one 30" screen and Im sure no one wants to see the slaves screens too. Not to mention it would eat up memory recording a screen capture of that size.

When I use fraps, it only records the window that was active when I press the "record button". So after the boss fights, when I flip to new windows and loot bosses on all my chars, all you see is the mouse moving around on my "main" window. So I guess this is the desired behavior for you - if you have all 5 of your windows viewable on screen at once, fraps will only record the window you currently have selected when you hit your record button.

Awesome video, thanks for sharing. I just tried out my DK+ 4 shaman, gotta love the healing stream totems.

It would be cool to see UP, Strat, Nexus, AZ or the other spider place.

Actually, Halls of Lightning would be really nice to see.

I haven't done heroic nexus yet (its sooo far away) so I'll try to get there soon.

I can definitely make a HoL video (this would be really helpful to demonstrate when to cast things ,where to stand, how to deal with the nature immune elementals, etc), and as soon as I get 4 bronze drakes I will take a video of myself doing a 25 min timed run to get my 5th drake :)

Great videos.. really helped me do Gundrak for the 1st time today. Running the same makeup 1DK 4 ele shaman. Their gear is terribad tho. Have you done any other instances yet?

See my signature for currently "farmed" heroics. I am now on a personal mission to video every single one of these instances on heroic and put them up here. Redid the Gundrak Video yesterday, tonight I will probably do 1-2 more videos - hopefully by next week I will have 6-8 videos online.

I also have another thread in this forum with a full download for my Heroic CoS timed run - though to make it in 25 minutes probably requires somewhat decent gear. It might help out at least!
