Well ive always been facinated with ppl multi-boxing in WoW, but ive never been able to do it myself cause of a bad comp, but now its burned down, and i got myself a new one, and i tryed it out, it runs 3xWoW without any problems, but...

I was reading up on some noob help, and found a very nice thread, (How to Box 5 accounts (or 2 or 3 or 4) with ONE computer) (http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=1767) and it covers nicely the basics, but im having big problems tweaking this to my own hardware.

I really dont want to put to much money into this before ive seen if its something for me, but i know that my comp can handle it, the problem is my monitor.

I run in max resolution wich is 1280x1024, its a 17" monitor. I do have a secondary monitor that i might take into use, but its old, dusty and worse than my current one.

Ive downloaded WoW Maximizer, and it seems to work fine, but on the abovementioned thread i havnt been able to find any bat commands to fit my settings, and to be quite honest, i dont really understand the settings.

I figured i would make my main window 1280x512, and my 2 alt windows 640x512, and my current bat fil used is:

E:\Boxing\WoW1\maximizer.exe --margin 480,30,0,0
REM top of right mon
E:\Boxing\WoW2\maximizer.exe --margin 0,570,0,840
REM bottom of right mon
E:\Boxing\WoW3\maximizer.exe --margin 0,570,840,0

And this does make the 3 windows, but theres alot of "air" inbetween, and i put the resolutions mentioned above into my Config.wtf, but it dosnt really seam to work.

Should i consider some other resolutions, or is a 2. monitor 100% needed (id really prefer starting off with 1), or is my bat file just off?

Another thing, as mentioned, i just bought a new comp, so im just trying this out and i dont really wanna use to much money on it, the 3 accounts im using is mine and 2 ive borrowed, so no money spend there. And im not much of a programmer, so i figured KeyClone would be the smartest options for this, so i looked at it, and it does look very nice, and easy to use, but i couldnt see any kind of trial version, does this not exist?

I really hope you guyes can help an aspirering multi-boxer, if you have any questions just msg here or send me a PM.

1280x1024

I'd do one on the top and the other 2 splitting the bottom (extra width is a lot better than extra height...)

Main: 1280x512
Clones: 640x512

The numbers for maximizer are how far from the edge of each screen your window is... It's: top, bottom, left, right

For example, for Clone 1(bottom left) (512 from the top edge, 0 from the bottom edge, 0 from the left edge, and 640 from the right edge)

Full maximizer settings:
Main Maximizer: 0, 512, 0, 0
Clone1 maximizer: 512, 0, 0, 640
Clone2 Maximizer: 512, 0, 640, 0

ahh, that does explain the 4 numbers...

But whats the difference between having main on top or at buttom? i mean its the same settings you suggest as i suggested.

Well the new Margins work like a charm, thanks alot.

I got some gfx probs though, when i have multiple WoW's running, i get a kinad of shatter over my screen, im not sure if its something to do with my gfx card (ATI Radeon HD 3870) or is it something else that other ppl have experienced?

I misread your post and thought you wanted the man to take double "vertical" space...

Top or Bottom doesn't make a difference (other than preference) .. but a double width window is much better than a double height window... thats all I was talking about.

Yeah thats kinda what i thought as well, could also be that i put the numbers the wrong way, but dosnt matter, your change to the bat file worked wonders ;)

i desided to try out with my 2. screen, and im currently trying to get the margins to fit.

But im still having problem with the "shatter" effect when i play, might it have something to do with the color depth or something?

i really cant get this thing to work, and its starting to get quite fustrating, im using 2 desktops at 1280x1024, and i assume they are made right as 1 long desktop, although when i look at them they are still placed as 2 desktops, but i have marked up the "Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" on my secound screen.

my current code for booting up looks like this:

REM batch file to launch 3 evenly spaced wows
REM Left monitor
E:\Boxing\WoW1\maximizer.exe --margin 0,0,0,0
REM top of right mon
E:\Boxing\WoW2\maximizer.exe --margin 0,0,1024,0
REM bottom of right mon
E:\Boxing\WoW3\maximizer.exe --margin 512,0,1024,0

But it starts up the first window just fine, but the other 2 gets put on the far right edge of my first monitor and then get squized really small, and i just cant figure out whats wrong, so please help.

Got my games booted up, and they do it well, they all position themselfs at they should, so thats one step in the right direction.

But i still have problems with the graphics, i get this shatter effect all the time, it ends up looking like this

http://imageshack.dk//viewimage.php?file=/imagesfree/PaZ07025.jpg

and when i was logging in it looked alot like it was trying to reflect the images from the 2 alt games onto my main game, this might be connected in some way.

If you're running in dual-view, I suggest not using the "right monitor"-command and go for something similar to this (I had the same problem and this was my solution):

REM batch file to launch 3 evenly spaced wows
REM Left monitor
d:\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 0,30,0,0
REM batch file to launch 3 evenly spaced wows
REM top of right display
d:\wow2\maximizer.exe --margin 512,0,1280,-1280
REM batch file to launch 3 evenly spaced wows
REM bottom of left mon
d:\wow3\maximizer.exe --margin 0,512,1280,-1280

In your case you'd switch out 1280 with 1024

However, keep in mind that if you run VISTA and Dualview, you might have to make one batch file per client and start them one by one (and you have to wait for each client to start up properly before you open the next one).

Cheers
Hippie

Im running with an extended desktop, and the bat file does work.

REM batch file to launch 5 evenly spaced wows
REM Left monitor
E:\Boxing\WoW1\maximizer.exe --margin 0,0,0,1280
REM upper left of right mon
E:\Boxing\WoW2\maximizer.exe --margin 0,512,1280,0
REM lower left of right mon
E:\Boxing\WoW3\maximizer.exe --margin 512,0,1280,0

So when i boot it up then it does look fine exept for the gfx errors and the shatter effects as i mentioned before, so basicly its only the shatter effects thats keeping me from starting, and i just cant figure out what the are caused by.

Ah, sorry, I missunderstood your post completely... *bashes his head in*

Anyways, I'd recommend looking into some new drivers, possibly some from TweaksRUs (they tend to either fix the problem or make it worse :P but then agian, you can just remove 'em again).

I got the newest (and only so far as i could find) driver for my gfx card (ATI Radeon HD 3870).

Looking at the screenshot again, it reminds me a lot of an old NVIDIA-card related bug that used to be in wow and it was fixed changing some graphical settings in wow... So that's all I've got: tinker with the graphical settings and see what works.

Your card is likely either overheating or is a bad card with corrupted/bad memory.

Well its a brand new card, and its running with sandard cooling and i havnt been able to see any bad memory, its running with norm memory and everything

Could this maybe be caused by that i have DirectX 9.0c when my gfx card is a DirectX 10 card (same with driver), and if so, does anybody know how to install DirectX 10 on Windows XP 64? only been able to find anything about it, only for Windows32

I consider it highly unlikely that it has anything to do with directx 9 vs 10.

Hey Buan,

This is my setup

Intel E6750
AtI 3870
750W PC Power and Cooling
2 gig Ram G-skill 4-4-4-12
Asus P5K-E WIFI/AP

And I also have the same issue, and I have come to the conclusion it if the video card not handling all the accounts. I did this by tweaking the card.

First I downloaded RivaTurner latest, and then OC the card to 850 core and 1280 memory, then boosted fan speed to 70% and close to no glitches but pretty annoying with the fan being so load.

Not to disappointed since I did plan to use Crossfire in my system just waiting for some more cash. I would be pretty pissed though if crossfire didn't help with the tearing and graphical glitches.

Hope you read this and confirm what I also went through and pinpointing the problem.

Good luck mate, if your not going CF like me then might as well sell your card and get a 8800GT if a single can run it.

*************UPDATE*********************

Ok it appears to be a factor of things.

I was messing around and noticed that I can run WoW in openGL but runs slow and I don't see like anything but with mutliple accounts I do not have any graphic tearing at all.

That is with 3 wow's in OpenGL and 1 with DirectX.

If only I could get Open GL to run 100%. Think I might try whine and ubuntu lol, but don't think clonekeys would work for it.
