This is on your shamans?

Here is what i do.

5 Shamans:

Standing the door killing the 4 adds that come out to take down the shield. Toss 5x Gift of the Naaru on the "main character"

/tar Party1
/cast Gift of the Naaru

Make sure you are using Frost resits totems and 5x healing streams. Chain heal when needed.

I find that once you get this down, the boss becomes really easy. The instance it's self is really fun IMO. I use it for farming Enchanting mats.

Edit: I actually just ran the place then ran Gundrak ( Normal ) With the changes to shamans, I killed Trollgore is 18 seconds >.>

Edit...again.... : If you stand in the door, kinda LOS the boss and let the 4 adds come to you, you don't get any adds that would come down the stairs @ you.

1 frost totem, 4 healing stream totems. Make sure you recast watershield every few blizzards to stay up on mana. Once on boss do 2 dps spells 1 chain heal over and over and over. You may need to do 2 chain heals if your spell power is low. Make sure each shaman is target a different shaman for chain heal so nothing is wasted. GL!

After 3.0.8 this boss became extremely easy. The DPS goes so fast now he gets maybe 3 blizzards done before hes dead - last night I fought him and only had to chain heal once the entire fight.

Edit: This is with decent gear of course - 2200-2300 SP per shaman with totem of wrath, 15k hp, 16.5k mana.

Hi, any new ideas on the boss ?
Since recent patches the Adds spawn very fast.

Where do you locate your toons during the 1st phase.

(how can you skip it , where do you have to walk with your team ?)

cheers

not sure.
maybe this trick still works.
i discovered this position and reported tbh. while casualy drinking there, long time ago. looks me like mobs dont spawn, and i found really strange.

basically, mobs come from stairs, except 4 mobs needed for destroy barrier.
the spot is exactly opposite side then stairs.
in right position you have Novos and back him the stairs. spot is really close to wall.
why tricky? spawn rate was a lot lower and you have to fight just few mobs.

X is the spot, really on the wall.
not using anymore by long time, i rush in this instance and generally kill mobs directly on the stairs, it s faster.

I had trouble with this instance myself.

But try standing on the top of the stairs while the adds and the elites spawns. This helped me out a bit. I had trouble killing all the adds fast enough when the boss is attackable, and then he would start pwning my casters while my tank tried to tank the adds and the boss.... all to confusing.

Also, I simply move out of the blizzard casting a wild growth.

here's my vid of doing the keep a while ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo8mHaatfeo
never had any problems with this place even now on heroic but i can see why its a hard one.
on novos i just out heal and resist anything the frost can do and the adds are pathetic just chain
heal and keep your water sheilds up

This Boss hurt me the first time.

I fought at the base of the stairs and burned all the mobs down, not realizing there's no time to eat/drink before the boss. So was around 25% mana (and mostly blue gear) when I was able to attack. Healer went oom fast with chain heals, then wiped. The next few runs I skipped the boss by running into the room and toward the stairs, then around the boss. I once tried to just run along the wall behind it, but agro'd and had to fight.

When I fight now, I stand at the bottom of the stairs but around the corner (either side) and hide behind a pillar. The trash mobs that run down are destroyed by magma totems. The 4 mages that you need to kill can be focus fired (and silenced if you need to pull them closer). The only X-factor is the elite orge-trolls. Just focus fire it like the mages. with the totems wiping the trash, should have 75%+ mana for the actual fight.

I run my tank up to the boss and do my thing. The others stay back, finish off the adds, then focus fire & heal. If the blizzard hits them, I just chain heal til its done. With enough HP (I'd say 15k+) or resistance, it shouldn't be a huge issue to stand in it.

In the end, this zone is nice because you can skip this boss & t-rex if you aren't comfortable farming them.

There were two problems I used to have with Novos..

1) Blizzard
2) Undead/Summoned spawns

I made it easier by splitting my 2 into three.. 2 shamans on one side of the stairs (at the base).. and the other 2 (w/ Heals) on the other side. My tank of course just kinda runs around. I always keep my diseases (as a DK tank) on at least 1 elite and let him run around with me picking up new mobs. I just pestilience the disease around to the mobs with occasional D&D or mostly bloodboil. Sometimes I nuke with LB (on elites).. Of course heal as necessary though the slaves can take a few beating anyway. As soon as Novos become active, I drop fresh totems and run my tank to the middle - my slaves are still within max range so I can heal and blast where they're at. When blizzard comes, it only hits 2 instead of all four slaves. Easy CH or Flash of Light if using pally.

What worked for me, and keep in mind I'm bad at this, was run past him into the hall just befoire the bats.....don't aggro the bats, let the adds come to you. Granted I'm using a Paladin to tank, but the adds aren't really what you're complaing about right? Frost aura, should be about the same as your frost totem. Once the adds are down, he comes to you. Chain heal one 1 shaman, while the other kill. It's really easy if the adds are out of the way, any running loose is where I have problems. His frost attacks imo are really weak. After the adds, he's a tank and spank.

I do the event portion on the stairs, with totems on the ground at the base of the stairs.
Usually I don't care if the adds get to the floor, although killed them all on the stairs the first time for the achievement.

Pretty much have one fire elemental out at this point.
And pick up elites with the pally tank.

Novos becomes attackable, the whole team runs at him.
I switch to Frost Aura at this point.

I drop 3x Healing Stream and 2x Fire Elementals when I'm close to him.
And then just spam 1 (96969) on the pally, which is also the click dps for 3x Elemental and 1x Warlock.
When I need it, I'll 3x Chain Heal the lowest toon, and then have the shammies go back to dps.
This has always been a pretty easy one for my composition, one-shot it on the first try.

This is how I do it as well. Just run out of the ice storm and pop elementals when he becomes attackable.

You can skip Novos by going around him by way of the stairs. I sometimes do him last this way. It helps a lot with pets or summons to aggro the non elites.

I have tried all four positons around him. It really doesnt seem to matter that much. the best positions would be Prega's diagram where the 4 casters gets to you the fastest. If you try Prega's position, be aware that at level you will aggro Novos and start the event right away. you would also have to swing the camera a little bit.

Regarding adds @ stairs - I found that my elements can keep them at bay long enough for me to focus only on boss / crystal keepers.

I had issues with this fellow when I was just starting heroics (all blue gear with a couple crafted epics). Tank , 2x shaman, mage , priest. (probably easier for me with priest.

I setup my team near the bottom of stairs, back them to wall , placed totems, started encounter and would keep consecrate up to round up adds but mostly ignore until a decent size group and then aoe (with fire nova, arcane aoe). Focus on the caster add x4 when they came and ran up stairs. Tried to be efficient so I had enough mana for boss.

Then would charge boss , taunt but run through to opposite side (this generally let me avoid the first blizzard as I was on the move). I would then run back to novos leaving team a bit behind and put up totems(including frost res). Then just dps, heal, when blizzard cast, strafe team and hit Holy nova as I ran out of blizzard.

I found getting out of blizzard immediately was much more important than eeking out more dps. I kept consecration up on tank and that would round up the adds that showed up during novos part, so only had to dps, heal and move out of blizzard. I can't remember if grounding totem ate the one single target spell or not.

I was able to do this first time in with quest/instance blues and a few epic crafted on each toon.

First time I ran out of mana on priest healer and wiped , was more careful using mana pots, etc. after that. Many weeks later I remembered that priests had a hymn that helps regen mana hehe. (forgot about that with my time away from game).

On the bright side, things only get easier.

I found the T-rex harder than novos but also doable. (if you don't mind wiping a few times).

Tyval

edit: erm consecrate != holy nova, so replace to avoid confusion and embarassment.

Just aced DTK. No Wipes no Deaths :)

Trollgore - a joke
Novos - my priest was oom because of the AOE Heals with the adds. Had no mana during boss fight (ok one flash heal on my mage)
T-Rex - 2 fears, well recovered thanks to CTM + IWT (I stood on the road parallel to the T-Rex area)
Prophet - didn't even use elemental or Bloodlust just set up your VEHICLE Bar. all abilities are synchronized. One click, 5 times the ability 4 and 5) I pressed taunt (ability 2) manually with the mouse on my main

The time needs improvement though, took me ~ 40 min with bio breaks
All in all a nice evening :)

ps: it went even nicer, when I got Gundrak as the random Heroic :)

I never tried this with 5 shaman but I assume you need to setup your team as Prega indicated for a location but spread your team out, the blizzards are very narrow so your team shouldn't be stacked on top of each other. when the shield goes down add some elements to distract the boss while you burn her down.
