Hows the shaman community doing, my three shamans went from 1.6 yesterday (blues up to violet hold) to 2.3k DPS!!!
Glyph of lava and flameshock so far (level 77) I couldnt not believe the increase. I am so excited that shamans actually can scale with gear now.
Good stuff. (Lava Burst went from 4.3k to 5.4k O.o

I went from ~1700 to 2800 on one of my ele shamans in heroic violet hold today, my mage was actually UNDER my shaman on overall dmg (usually hes 50-100% higher!) so I had to blink my eyes a few times. Sadly the server crashed at the 16th wave and it reset the instance, then I had to run naxx25 guild on my mage. Will try some heroics tomorrow and see how it goes.
Didn't change a thing yet either, spec'd same 57/14 with lightning bolt, flametongue weapon, and flameshock glyphs. Didn't drop magma totems at all either, I haven't figured out a good key to put it on yet (lol) and sync it so that I always have wrath up when needed, and frost resist if necessary. Ooh, one thing I immediately did was create reincarnation glyphs for all my shamans, NO MORE BUYING ANKHS EVER AGAIN WOOOOOooooo

not sure what my dps is. don't have an addon installed for it but will soon. i did notice that lava burst hitting flame shocks went from around 6500 crit to just over 9000 crit.

In VoA I went from about 1700 to 2700 on the boss fight.
Have to edit this.. After 10 runs I am avg around 2700dps up from 1700. So about 1000dps more.
I did 10 runs of Vault this week and had 12 hunter loots drop. Vs. 1 shaman loot. It was the deadly chest and lucky for me I rolled a 100. The drops are really pissing me off in that instance. I think shaman loot is the lowest drop rate of all. I run it 10 times every week and rarely see shaman loot.

For my shamans using my normal method for trash, I went from 1700 to 2100. This is with only using flameshock on the first mob in the pull. I tried removing chain lightning from my castrandom but that dropped my DPS back down to 1700. This is with ~1900 sp buffed only with flametongue, so almost 2200 with totem of wrath.
On eck I got 2950 on 1 shaman because I didn't have to heal on the fight at all, plus bloodlust etc, whereas prior to 3.0.8 my max was around 1800 (and I also had to heal on boss fights - now some of them go down so fast no healing is needed).

The way shamans are now, reminded me of how they were pre-WOLTK. We are back to PEW PEW machines :)

I have no raid examples but I went from 3100-3200 to almost 4k on Trollgore - I was quite pleased :D

Like the poster over me said, you most likley lack hit! :)
Its also alot about luck when it comes to that boss with the time of knockbacks,if you end up in the cloud or get the spikes.

I went from 2.5-3k to 3.5-4kish, ofcourse it depends on the fight. But say patchwerk I can reliably get off 3800+ in 10 man situation. Upto 4600-4800 in full raid buffs 25 man with flask etc. Trash dps is consistantly 5k+.
Over the course of 10 man naxx I usually end up however on ~3600dps average. Some fights like saphiron depend a lot on where the blizzard goes, being a boxer you're a magnet and might find yourself running half the time of the fight. Obviously dps is lower (2200-2800 in frost-res gear and running alot).

My shamans DPS was at 2.4k in my 23 minute strat run last evening (used to be at about 1.8k-1.9k before). No Magma Totem, am using Totem of Wrath (am running a mixed team, Protection Paladin, Elemental Shaman, Shadow Priest and Moonkin Druid + my wife is playing her resto shaman). Having Elemental Shamans AoE with a fire totem is probably the most stupid idea ever. Give us a nice group buff totem with 41 talents, but dont let us drop it cause of magma totems, yeah, sure...
And well, my question: (am not using a Lava Burst rune so far, maybe this will answer my question, but I kinda doubt it...)
Did you guys compare your Lava Burst/Flame Shock DPS to pure Lightning DPS?
I did lots of testing on target dummies and cant find any reason to use Flame Shock/Lava Burst rotations. Pure Lightning Bolt spam (or Chain Lightning/Lightning Bolt) is at least as good, most of the time way better. Not to mention the mana consumption...
I tried some macros from these forums like /castrandom Lava Burst, Lighting Bolt, Flame Shock, or tried to apply the Flame Shock manually. I tried castsequences too.
The castrandom DPS is utter crap, most of the time I'm getting spell not ready messages cause its trying to cast Lava Burst 10 times in a row. So lots of wasted time without casting, even though I'm spamming my DPS button quite fast. Castsequences are a bit better, but still not worth it compared to Lightning Bolt spam.
My Shamans gear isnt too bad, geared for heroics so all I need is 79 hit rating. Can't link armory right now, stupid maintenance all day long... If you want to have a look, search for Tacheéne on Whisperwind.
The Lava Burst rune would add 10% spellpower, that'd be about 220 (base?) dmg. This can't be such a big difference to make it worth it. Maybe I should do some tests myself, didn't feel like changing glyphs so far though...

I can squish out an extra 600-1000 dps with lava burst rotations.
Lava Burst glyph, Flame Shock glyph and Lightning Bolt Glyph all the way
Lava Burst glyph is 220 flat damage more, 100% crit is 450-500 more per lava burst, That's about 60-80dps more for a glyph. It's well worth it.

Well, I don't really know what's wrong, on target dummies the FS/LvB rotation was often 300+ DPS behind pure LB spam. Maybe it's my high latency of 300-400ms... :(

I've done some further research on glyps.
As it is now with 3.0.8 it seems there's a choice.
1. Flameshock
2. Lightning Bolt
3. Lava -or- Flametongue Weapon
Flameshock and Lightning Bolt are the two biggest increase in DPS, Lava and Flametongue or -somewhat- tied. Lava and Flametongue add roughly the same amount of DPS, but Lava is a bit more stable then Flametongue.
Still, in all scenario's, Lava burst rotation seems to be the best. So, you should see better results with LvB rotation. Did you make certain you are specced and glyphed for Lava Burst?

Ya, think I didn't assign the last 3 points yet, but the rest is pretty straightforward. Have a look at my shamans armory: Shaman ('http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Whisperwind&n=Tache%C3%A9ne')
Finally got the legs from CoS along with our 2nd drake last night. I think my shamans gear is pretty decent for never setting foot in any raid dungeon except of Vault of Archavon.
Just did a few more tests on target dummies. Flametongue, Flame Shock, Lightning Bolt glyphed and buffed with my druids MotW, Moonkin Aura and Earth + Moon debuff on the target. Each rotation 5 times from full to no mana. DPS listed is worst and best result, stupid RNG dmg...
-With pure Lightning Bolt spam am getting about 3.3-3.5k DPS.
-If I try the commonly used "/castrandom Lava Burst, Flame Shock, Lightning Bolt" macro, am able to deal 3.2-3.4k DPS.
-A castsequence like "/castsequence Flame Shock, Lava Burst, Lightning Bolt, Lightbolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lava Burst, and so on" is just terrible, dealing about 2.7-2.9k DPS. (not sure why my last tests had this rotation way above the castrandom one)
-I didn't try to manually press my shamans buttons, cause that's no real option while multiboxing, especially with a mixed group and different casttimes/cooldowns.
On a side note, which "genius" thought a lvl 80 dummy doesnt need more than 1 hit point? Shadow Word: Death is awesome with no healing from Vampiric Embrace, and I really love to run out of mana kinda fast cause of no regen from Vampiric Touch.........
So well, according to those results, with my mixed group and my latency (about 400ms while testing) it seems using Lightning Bolts is the way to go. That's rather sad and frustrating. :(

Thought I would update this thread with my latest DPS:
http://www.vonderbecke.net/images/mboxblog/dps.jpg
This is on the Gal'Darah fight (last boss in Gun'Drak heroic). This is also with minor healing as elemental shamans so the DPS numbers could go 100-300 higher. Most of this is JUST from the 3.0.8 changes though I've probably also gained ~125sp and ~50 haste since 3.0.8 went live per shaman as well. Also I'm still using a healing stream glyph per shaman, if I swapped that out for the LB glyph I would get another boost as well. For now I'm keeping the healing stream glyph because I get a ton of use out of 4x healing stream totems in heroics.

Would you (or anyone else) be able to link your specific talent build/s? My searching only turned up hypothetical examples, unless I missed a few threads. Thanks much.
