Well I like mine, the spot to the right of the player/target tags is for the group.

Bartender 4.0 & X-Perl Unit Frames.

Both of those are huge memory hogs. Try AG_unitframes and dominos for action bars. much more lightweight and both do exactly what are looking for.

i also have xperl and bartender4.

This might just be me, but I'm hardware boxing, so memory is less of a problem for me than others. But I'm a fan of bartender 4 and Pitbull. That, and whatever other things I find handy.

Mostly I use Pitbull + Dominos, but am inching toward adding Macaroon as my druids' macro requirements are running over the Blizzard UI limits. I also wanna try an FTL setup to reserve focus for rooting and hibernation.

I like some eye candy with my UI, and with 8GB RAM I can spare the memory just running two instances of WoW.

My UI Setup ('http://eldarguild.org/Downloads/WoWScrnShot_010709_103205.jpg')

That is using SpartanUI (Bartender4 included) with some other stuff in there.
Bartender4 using 1.2MB
Spartan using .3MB

*shrug* I use 65 add-ons on my main with only Omen on my alts, but I don't have a problem running 6 instances of WoW with 4GB of RAM. I do agree that 3D unit frames are a resource hog, especially on the videocard for tacking on more chunks of triangles to render. I did love Bongos2 though, and I know that the developer of Bongos went on to make Dominoes as a "cleaned-up" version of Bongos.. so I may give it a try some day. Action bars and unit frames are by far the most time consuming aspect of a UI to set up though, so I doubt I'll change soon.

Bartender 4.0 (easy to learn, quick to assign shortcuts)
Xperl (quick way to get a clean layout)
Prat (customize chat window)

Action Bars: Macaroon    + Xtras for bag bar and menu bar
Unit Frames: Pitbull
Cooldown Monitoring: Party Ability Bars and Cooldown watch
Proc alerts: MSBT

I use jamba, macaroon and xpearl plus some for mini map, arkinventory, and the tiptac I think its called.

Pitbull is the hog, don't use it.

I have to run at 1600 X 1200 so I have 4X3 like my 5 other monitors (1280 X 960), my UI would be a lot less screen at 1920 X 1200.

I'd only suggest pitbull if your looking for something that is highly customizable.

I prefer to spend my setup time tuning macros and not my UI so:

NUI ('http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/nui.aspx')- Everything is always in the same spot on all toons, every time. Sets up the unit frames and bars for you. Changes the unit frames from solo-group automagically.

Of course Jamba and few other utilities: bindpad, informant, questhelper etc.

But the OP wanted a basic UI recomendation so I highly recomend Nui if don't want to mess around with your ui setup again.

*ontopic* my basic setup ( not really that basic but i'll explain anyhow). I use keyclone and FTL setup. i use macaroon for anything with large macros, bartender4 for my normal hotbars ( you could get away with only using macaroon but thats more setup than is needed really) and i use xperl with 3D portaits turned off.

I just started playing around with SpartanUI and added xperl unit frames, omen, prat, etc. SpartanUI uses Bartender4 and looks very clean.

Haven't finalized the setup yet, but here's a screenshot from spartanui:

Edit: I'm an idiot. Didn't completely read Elesar's post...

Hmm nice setups can i get more ss of people in game so i can compare what they all look like just trying to get a good easy setup to work. So far i like the nui one looks cool and spartan is right on its heals. Looking for easy to customize and good clean looks with not alot of mem taking.

There really isn't anything to change with NUI. The author does have a few extra skins and information panel to integrate recount, omen, the zone map etc.

I am so happy using NUI. I don't have to worry about addon updates fucking everything up. Just drag your spells, items to the bars. I use bindpad for unlimited macros/binding so I don't care if the bars can make macros. But the NUI bars do have the ability to bind directly to them.

I don't need to toss in a screen shot because my screen looks just the authors screenies, just toss in the jamba window on the side.

[Addon] Jamba - An assistant for multiboxers. 10th Update - 0.4b released. ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=12887')

It is stickied in the macro/addons forum. He maintains the code on his personal website. Jamba is super. I highly recommend trying out the strobe following. You will never mash the follow button ever again (except to start and stop follow strobing).

Hey moose i kinda think i need your help getting nui setup and working. It doesnt seem to like my alt+1 to dg it just untargets my target and if i hit ctrl shift 5 i dont mount it does nothing. Only 1 thru = works.

moosejaw
01-17-2009, 09:08 PM
If you hover your mouse over the buttons it will tell you how to bind directly to them. Also, were these macros bound using an addon you may have just disabled? Nui is passive when it comes to keybinds. The only things it binds by default are the 1 through = . You can see your Nui keybindings in the keybinds list right after the blizz defined binds.

Make sure you remove the unnecessary default blizz bindings to free up keys for yourself. If you had something mapped to the default blizz bar you will need to redo the binding to the Nui key (I think this is what happened to you). While it does setup the the first action bar for you, it will not copy over the blizz bar bindings. You need to reset them yourself.

Ahhhh ok going back to work on that and get jamba set. Is there a way to just shift click names into the grp field to add to team in jamba. Since my names have alts im not sure if im getting the right ones or not.

moosejaw

To get the special characters you will have to use the character map I suppose. You can use copy/paste from a text document if you have them typed out already. When setting up a team the first time enter the master name on the slaves first. Then enter all the names on the master and push to team. This gives your master control of the team settings. Now when you make changes to any setting in jamba and push that to the team they will all update.

Things like jamba purchase (reagents, poisons) should be set up on each toon.

To make use of some of the automation jamba provides follow the link in his post that lists the slash commands. You can make a macro for team invite/disband, follow strobe on/off, change master etc. Very very handy when you realize how powerfull it is.

I would make a text file with all you team members names so all you need to do is copy/paste in the future. Darn unicode! :)

only addon that REALLY hogs your memory is Questhelper IMO o_O

suicidesspyder

Im gathering you have to reset all your keybindings once again on each char with nui grrrr lol. Man oh man this is taking forever. Now using jamba does that auto make the main screen your focus or no or do i still need to do the focus macros and stuff.

This.
All the ActionBar AddOns in the world couldn't use as much resources as QuestHelper.

So hopefully my PC isn't crashing in the next few Minutes and I can finally end this Post I want to do since 2 days or something ^^

This is my UI when I'm not in Combat:

This is my UI when I'm in Combat: [Edit:] Have turned all my status in the left and the target status is in the right.

http://i731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/Shaitan256/WoWScrnShot_041608_091546.jpg

It isn't Final yet. Just tried some new add ons I've never tried before, and for some Reason "Trinity Bars" isn't working anymore.

- AG_Unitframes to hide all kind of Frames (also Party frames)
- Drathals HUD to have this Around me Thing. (didn't like nUI because everything was so small, though it is comfortable)
- Omen3
- Jamba (XP status)
- Grid (my only "Partyframes")
- Altoholic
- Dominoes instead of Trinity Bars
- Xloot guess it's the last one^^

Only thing I need is Party casting bars, and Something like Sexy Map oder Simplemap to get the Map down.

Can someone suggest one for Party Castbars? Or can I just let AG unitframes do it for me? (just let them not show the Health/Mana status and only the Castbar? - Gonna try that-)

iirc trinity bars has stopped being updated due to the author not liking the direction that it was going. he then went on to make macaroon which has basically all functionality of trinity yet is focused more on macros and will continue to be more on macros.

X-perl and Bartender4 here also.

I used to just use a compilation pack (Mirage Insomniax) which included these addons. I like it but I am sure you can find something less cumbersome - although, you can customize it. I have always been too lazy to bother checking for anything else since I don't want to have to configure everything again. I just buy a bigger monitor :P

I find Fubar really useful too. Titanbar (or is it Titanpanel?) is similar, but never used it.

Here's mine - the player, target, and targettarget unitframes are pitbull, the raidframes are the only remnants of Xperl that are left over - I leave almost everything to remain transparent when not in group or raid. Meters are Recount, Omen for threat, bars are dominoes, 1 bar worth of fubar, ElkBuffbars, Cowtip for tooltips - ARCHud, SCT, SimpleMiniMap, Mini Map Button Bag (I think), Cartographer, Clearfont2 for fonts.

The Player and Target frames have been thinned since this SS was taken.

Even with all that the memory usage is really low - I'm real picky about what I have enabled and don't.
