I'm relatively new to the MB scene and this is my first attempts at a team. I currently run three boomkins. Along with 2 RL friends who use a fire mage and pally tank we were able to take down the first two bosses in Heroic Nexus (the boss that fears and the mage who splits into three). I realize that there are much grander accomplishments in the MB world, but these two kills were very satisfying. It took us well over an hour (maybe two) on each to get a strategy that works. I have pretty piss poor gear (all 78 blue BOE Overcast gear) and trying to both DPS and heal at the same time is causing difficulties, but the satisfaction of getting a boss down is as good as in the old raiding days. I know that more seasoned MBs take down these bosses with ease, but I'm only starting to get over the overwhelming feeling of "where did my slaves go" and "oh crap need to heal without gimping damage too badly."

We're now working on the big ball of energy wraith boss that spawns the little balls of energy and the mana wraiths. After a couple attempts it became clear that I would not be able to take down the orbs and heal... I was running out of mana way too quickly. We have instead started the kiting strategy and it's very likely that on our first kill we will also get the achievment of downing the boss w/o killing any of his orb spawns. I think having three druids that can run and heal as well as puts decent DoTs on the boss is making the strategy viable. We almost had him down last night until we were kiting back and ran into respawns/pat.

Anyway, MB has been extremely fun so far. I was getting very bored of my geared warrior a few months ago by the time she hit 74. I realized that WotLK was all about AoE and I wasn't interested in maximizing my multitarget DPS as much as I was interested in strategy. Boy has MB taken care of the strategy part. Every new heroic boss we run into is like starting at step one and trying to figure out how to kill the guy using gimped healing, gear, DPS, and mobility.

If your not looking for the achievement then clear all the chaotic rifts before the boss.
Then add /target chaotic rift underneath your /assist line in your dps macro.

I shouldnt need to say what happens if you dont clear all the other rifts in the area :p (Yes, i didnt and it took me 3 attempts before i realised why my guys werent killing anything /bonk).

Either way this boss gets pretty easy once you can take down the rifts in 5-6 seconds.

Grats man.

To be honest the hardest part of heroics is starting. I think alot of people think gear is the big factor in a group when to be honest its not, 78+ set blues are all you need to get started, my guys even still have a few greens on them. What you have to twink is first your patience, and then your strategy/macros to get everything working to its fullest, it wasnt until I wiped a few times and went back over everything that I found things like realising I had a totem that increases spell haste by 5% (yes I didnt even realise I had this...)

I think as far as gear goes probably the role that is most dependant on it would be the tank, he needs to be able to take as minimal dmg as possible so theres no leway as like a dps/healer role.

Its all just practice, ive now cleared UK, Draktharon and all bosses except the last in Gundrak, its not much but its a start to getting things going, but im finding the more I tune my macros and efficiency the easier they are getting.

Congratulations.

To each his level. My most advanced team is only level 77 now, and I have this feeling of accomplishment just by doing NORMAL instances. As a (very) casual player who hates PUGs, just the fact of running any instances at all already feels great.
