Well today was my first day to get everything up and running together. I was having tons of bad fps and lag running 5 accounts from a Q6600, 8gig ram, symlinked, 2 v3870 video card machine. It took me awhile but I finally setup a new machine so I am 2 pc boxing now. Splitting the load made a huge difference. Everything is smooth. I can run around dalaran just like a solo toon. The difference is night and day.
My specs are:
Alt PC
q6600
8gig ram
Vista 64
Older Raptor Drive
2 Wows Symlinked
2 3870 cards crossfired on 1 LCD
Keyclone + Interbox
Main PC
i7 920
12gig ram
Vista 64
2 7200rpm Drives in Raid0
3 Wows Symlinked
1 4850x2 card running 2 LCD
Keyclone + Interbox
It's so cool to be using two computers with one keyboard and mouse. If anyone is having bad fps running 5 from one pc I suggest going to 2 pc's. Even a cheaper system will take the load off one pc. I cant wait to load some FPS games on this new i7 and run them in crossfire. Thanks to everyone who offered advice over the past months.

My main PC is like your new one.. almost exactly but i run two 280GTXs 2x 24 samsungs. I run all 5 ( not symlinked ) and run through Dalaran with zero lag. ( I always have alts on low setting though, and main on very high settings ) I still have an issue when i use PiP to swap screens. I freeze up and have to alt-tab out and back in to fix it. Other than it runs like a champ.
I play FPSs as well. Far Cry2.. Crysis ( both ) Fallout3 and i have all setting maxed on all of them with very smooth FPS ( from 50-100+ depending on the game ) Unless this one blows up, I'm set for awhile 8)
my PCs specs are
i7 920
12G Tri Chan DDR3
2 280GTX ( SLI )
Patriot 128gb ata SSD drive
Vista 64 Ultimate
Because of the PiP problem I am thinking about going with the 2 PCs so i do not have to swap screens ( 5 PCs is too much for heat/space for me )

Using InnerSpace my PIP swaps are instant. Seriously in the 5ms range. If you want to avoid the expense of a 2nd PC and all associated with it you may want to check out InnerSpace.

Hey how good is fallout 3. I keep reading about it in my pcgamer magazine. Is that game multiplayer or just solo? The game looks very cool and I thought about getting it. With this new system I am thinking about Far Cry and Crysis too. I am really looking forward to Quake 3 Live once it releases. I was a Quake 3 Junky.

I just got Fallout3 the other day. I just opened the door to the outside ( you start in a Vault/shelter type thing ) but it seems like a really well made FPS/RPG so far.

Let me know how you like Fallout3 after you play it awhile. I have been waiting to see more information about that FPS mmo Huxly (spelling) That sounds like it could be fun.
honestly... you didnt need a new computer to run 5x wows with good frames.
crossfire/sli setups LAG on wow.
my old 4870 512 MB gets better frames than my 4870x2 2GB.

You didnt see what I had to deal with. Its night and day. BTW my original setup was not crossfired. It was two 3870 cards running 3 monitors.

I spent more and got the asus rampage 2 extreme. It comes with a sound card instead of on board sound. Tons of overclocking features. I have not overclocked yet but I plan to.

I'm switching to an i7 system from a phenom system. Current cost is running riiight around 1200 dollars (Tacking on a GTX 280 for now, this will change most likely, 759 dollars sans graphics card)
I may replace the motherboard on my old phenom, grab an inexpensive case, and maybe have some fun.

After rolling back to XP upgrading to beta video drivers and getting a brand new ac adapter I manged to get 100+ fps on my alts. Grated that was probably a bug but I set maxfps on my alts to 15 and still got 60 on my main :) - I also changed the SLI config settings for wow so yeah.
