Just getting into boxing. Main system Q6600, 4GB and 8800GTS 320 Vcard. Monitor is 19. I would like to go 1 screen for main and other for the 4 alts.

Should I get the same size or will a 22"-24" be better?

If I get a bigger monitor, which one for the main?

Will the 8800 push two monitors?

Any ideas will help, thanks

the 8800gts will power two monitors, i would probably got for the 22" (lower maximum resolution= better framerate 1680x1050 opposed to 1920x1200)

as for which one to use as your main the choice is yours, I would personally go with the 22 for the main and the 19" for the slaves ( you could always use PiP to swap screens if you needed to perform any tasks on your slaves). as you would spend most of your time running from the main screen

you could always swap them over once you have the additional screen, if you wanted to try the slaves on the 22"

You didn't state your operating system.

If you're using Windows XP and care about decent frame rates, *definitely* get the same resolution monitor for your 2nd so you can run horizontal span mode. If they are different resolutions and you run dual-view, performance is horrible on the 2nd monitor. You *can* run the larger monitor at the lower resolution to have horizontal span, but you'll have some "hidden" desktop you can't access.

If you're using Vista, get a larger monitor and put the smaller windows on that.

I was running a 24" (1920x1200) and a 22" (1680x1050), and performance sucked on a 8800GTX, overclocked Q6600, and 4GB of memory in XP in dual-view mode. I managed to run 1920x1200 in horizontal span mode, but much of the area dedicated to the 22" display wasn't viewable. This meant I could move my mouse off that screen and it'd disappear into what the computer thinks is viewable area. Tough to explain, but easy to see.

I also opt for the 22" main and 19" slave LCD setup...

1) You really don't look at the slaves often enough for the screen size to matter.
2) 22" vs 19" prices aren't that different, so get whatever you want. It'll just boil down to desk space and 1680x1050 -vs- 1440x900.
