Concept: Five Point Grid Alphabet.

I was dinking around on my crappy computer last night, thinking about the focusing lenses, when I thought they could be used to communicate to the opposing faction through a creative means. (While I realize cross-faction communication isn't exactly Kosher, it could be fun for taunting or light shows, although very, very cumbersome.) They are formations, after all!


Five Point Grid Alphabet using Three Formations(Concept)
Requirements that I think would be needed:
Lots of Focusing Lenses.
Around 32 macro/key slots. 26 macro slots, 6 slots for formation spread/collapse buttons (Around 130 targeting macros spread out)
Lots of patience.

Paint Concept - , blank corners are the grid formation, colors are different formations Matching colors indicate a matching formation. Black squares represent characters.

This is just a rough sketch of what you might be able to do. As you can see this is done with three formations, one or two of which you might already use. (Cross and X formations)
While I wish I could actually work on this, I can't because of my multiboxing computer being out of commission. However, I did want to share my idea. The biggest issue I can see with this is setting up the targeting/use macros.

I dont think it would be very fun to try and communicate to someone on the other faction using this method...think clay animation LIVE, lol. The amount of time, either making the macros or repeating it over and over until you think they understood what you "/cast chain heal" would insane.

But this did get me thinking. This would make an Awesome opening to a video. Theres so many different things you could with spelling things out and editing the clips it would make for a very interesting opener.

I only have 4 shaman, can you redesign it using 4+1 pally? :P

This doesn't have shaman in mind, I thought of using this with a Focusing lens (JC item).

No shamans required!

But you could use them instead.

There are 36 emotes (which can be seen and understood by the opposite faction) in the game you could just make an emote to letters and numbers addon. It would be much easier than having people on the internet learn to read chain heal language :D

Do note, however, that written communication with the opposite faction by circumventing the already in place barriers is against the ToS. I had a GM notify me while I was working on an addon way back when the obfuscation of written text was reversible.

I like your creativity though...you might look into some of the grid languages used by PoWs. While a bit obscure they can be understood by people who know they are letters or words, and most were based off 5 or 9 point grids.

I'm envisioning a raid set up in the forest below Dalaran, spelling out HORDE (or ALLIANCE) SUX, in giant 60 yard tall glowing purple letters, so people see it as they fly by.

I wonder how long that would last :-)

Or, how about spelling out WWW.DUAL-BOXING.COM if we every get the DK raid going?
