If you don't have one, get one. They're worth the $6.50 (plus whatever other small costs are involved).

Yes, honestly every person on this site should have one. The fact that you're multiboxing means you have that much more to lose if your accounts all get compromised, AND the $6.50 will cover ALL of your accounts. If you can afford $30-75 (or up to what, $500 if we're talking about sam or prepared or something) a month you can afford a one time $6.50 fee.

Total cost, including shipping was about 9 bucks for me, and that is international shipping from the states to Canada.
Definitely worth the price, knowing your accounts are now safe, even if you should have the misfortune of a keylogger getting past your anti virus.

I think Vyndree pointed it out best. All the time and effort we put into our guys is too much to lose.
If you don't yet have one, order it now!

I would love to buy one but according to their site (and my attempts to purchase one) they won't ship it to Canada.
Oh well. . .

What if you lose the activator? Also, what happens if you use it and don't like it?
I ordered one, only 6.50, which includes shipping.

Once you activate it, if you don't like it you can "remove" it from your account by going into account management (which requires the authenticator to get into) and choosing "Remove Authenticator".
If you lose it I imagine you'd have to make an actual phone call to customer service (or maybe an email) to have them remove it for you.

it is well worth it. I bought 2 of them in case i lose one. Yes i know that you can only have one per account. But if i lose it i don't have to worry about making sure they have some in stock. It only cost $13 for 2. For some reason they didn't charge shipping (US).
If you lose it i heard that it is not easy to turn it off. Which is good and bad. Good cause no hacker can turn it off and hack your account. Bad if you lose it and have to deactivate it. You have to call the Blizzard Billing department to deactivate it. Here is the shitty part the Billing department are only open certain hours. Think it is like 8am - 8pm pst Monday - Friday (excluding holidays). Which means if you lose it when they are not open then you have to just wait till they are. I am in east coast so if i lose my thing by 11pm on a friday, i will not be able to play until monday :(

I noticed that there is a Canadian and US version of the authenticator. I reside in the US, but spend a great deal of time in Canada, and consequently a great deal of my WoW time is in Canada. If I purchase the US version, will it work if I login from Canada? I can't see why it wouldn't, as I'm still logging in to the same US server, but I just wanted to clarify before I purchase one. I did not see anything dealing with my specific situation on the WoW site.

I don't know why it wouldn't work. Only thing I can think of is there is some reason Blizzard has to process Canadian sales differently. I doubt the actual function of the authenticator is different at all.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking...I guess an email to Blizzard would be prudent just for confirmation. I would hate to assume and end up in Canada for 3 weeks not able to play because the authenticator doesn't work up there.

Since the US and Canada both use the same retail boxes (i.e. North American WoW game and servers), the Authenticator will work with both. However, the reason they are seperate may be because they have to use different payment processors or particular shipping accomodations in order to get it to a Canadian address.
Sounds like they did the reasonable thing and e-mailed them, though. :)

at least we're not complaining that the authenticators cost $100 shipping to Canada anymore.

Ya, I bought one before Christmas. Ordered one for me and two as gifts for guys I work with, since they were inexpensive and combined shipping to Canada.
I am always afraid I will lose it...or a little pair of hands may pick it up, never to be found again.
Anyway, for those that don't know you can use the same number when you log into all your accounts. I hadn't realized this at first. So, I only type it once (I use Keyclone) and it enters into all five windows.

Canada vs. US may also have security export restrictions. I'm not as up-to-date as I used to be, but I know it is very hard to export secrety-encrypting hardware outside the country. I would not be surprised if the key is actually manufactured in 2 versions: one for delivery to a US Mailing address, and one that is allowed to leave the country. You would think Canada would be a safe export partner, but that would involve thinking, which is not one of our country's strong points :)
Pre-flame apology: I am a proud US citizen, and love my country, but you have to admit, not all 300 million picnic baskets in here have all their sandwiches.

I had been trying to get one and they were out of stock so as soon as I saw this post I jumped and tried to order, but at the confirmation page I got an error asking me to call some 800 numbers and that 800 numbers says the wait is over 30 mins ... /fail :-(
edit: ok; I clicked the blue back button and submitted again and that time it went through - hopefully I won't get 4 (I ordered 2)
edit: what I did in between the fail and ok one, beside navigate through the phone menu and hear I would wait > 1/2h was clicking the email confirmation link - so maybe that was the "error"

I'm trying to order 2, but keep getting:
There has been an error processing your request.
Please go back to the previous page and try again.
For additional support, please check out our dedicated support page, here. I've tried verifying my e-mail as per the post above, still no luck. Tried with 2 different cards also. Sigh.

Sorry, I am not very confident in the blizzard store website since the whole blizzcon ticket sales fiasco.

Get. One. Exclamation!
I finally got a couple (one for me, one for the girlfriend) in November, and it's a huge relief knowing I can watch donkey porn again.
(Kidding... or am I?)

Update: finally got my authenticators today in the mail; postmarked 1/17 - the web site tracking never worked nor I got shipped email - so it took 5 days for them to put it in the mail after my order and 5 days to get from fresno, ca to bay area, ca... woot... I guess it traveled by horse and even then... but it works ! now I'm covered and according to murphy I should proceed to loose it and be locked out :-)

I bought mine last year US$6 and US$60 for shipping to australia - I thought it was still worth it. Funnily enough Blizzard changed their mail provider and refunded me about US$50 which was great because the aussie dollar fell against the greenback,so at the end of the day I didn't pay anything at all.
