So i did the dirty deeds and spent tons of money leveling up my alchemy
I kinda didnt do my reasearch but my GF was a transmute alchemist at level 70, I remeber her being so filthy rich. It was absurd.
Well i got to 435 and I transmuted a titanium bar today.
Did not proc, and the cooldown was 3d 19hrs!!! I was shocked by this, i though it was jsut like BC where you could do it once a day!
Is this intended, is there any talk about them lowering the cooldown?
Transmtue alchemist actually use to beable to support themselves, now.. at four days and MAYBE youll proc on a 60g item, this seems just ridiculous,
Please, reassure me that this will change!

Transmuting is different for each transmute type. I doubt this will change until another expansion comes out, but you can probably transmute other things besides Titanium (isn't transmuting titanium pretty worthless anyways? Titanium bars go for like 30g max on my server now).

Indeed. The demand for titanium is down such that the mats for this transmute (2 cobalt bar, 8 saronite bar [8 saronite ore], and 2 crystallized life) are worth more than the end-result (one titanium bar), at least on my server.

alchemy is a fairless worthless prof for most classes in wotlk sadly, you could maybe argue that as a healer doubling flask times (from 2 hours to 4 hours) is pretty good, but for DPSers and tanks Jewelcrafting is vastly superior. The xmutes are a joke, in the upcoming patch at least titanium xmute mats are being lowered and all wotlk xmutes are being changed from 4 day c/d (GOD HOW STUPID WAS THAT!) to 1 day c/d.

I knew it, i knew CD for 4days was absouletly absurd, Well, in that sense im just gonna get a jump on the eternal mights and start transmuting those. Thanks for the input guys,
Anyhow to the first hachoo, when you start off transmuters HAVE to do titanium so you can discover other transmutes, Then you get things like eternal fire to water or w.e useless crap in my opinoin.
And when i transmuted my titanium (which you guys are correct, i lost money on) The other transmutes where on cooldown as well, the eternal fire to water was on a fourday cooldown eventhough it was an elemental tranmute not a metal/stone one.
Blizz is changing the Cooldown to 1 day and the requirement to make them will only be 8 saronite bars.
Potion Sickness was a swift kick to the Profit of Alchemy

A boxer is usually going to get best gold results from daily quests, so looking past the issue of making money with professions, alchemy is still gaining some nice benefits from 40% more out of a potion and the trinkets which tend to be excellent.

I haven't even touched Alchemy since WotLK. I mean, it doesn't produce anything I actually care about, and I'd rather blow the mats on inscription research. I guess at some point I'll have to start flasking up, which I guess would make it a bit useful, but still, it doesn't feel like I'm making anything useful. I mean, back in the day, you would make shadow oil or potions of defense and agility that other crafts required to make stuff, but now, I just sit here scratching my head wondering why I should even bother with it. Its not a money maker, and there isn't much utility, and mat gathering is better spent on other things.
