Instances :P / mages+priest+prayer of healing+4x arcane explosion = fun & gold gold gold.

But i admit i pleveled my mages to 45 with my 70 pally :P
Did the same with my priest it took me a good 2 weekends casual play to get there.

The main problem with me is the collection quests. They are really getting on my nerves. My level 15 group was doing the idol quest outside of Thelsamar, the drop rate was so bad I decided to call it a night when my fourth character finally got the 8th idol!

I actually skipped two collection quests in Westfall, else I know I would have quit 4boxing and went back to 2.

I also just really hate levels 0-20, its excruciating for me. Luckily I really enjoy Darkshire, I'm almost there!

Unless I know them to be part of an IMPORTANT chain (there are none at low levels), I skip all collection quests. It's just too painful.

I do the kill quests and the run and pick stuff up quests - sometimes if it is just a few items I may do a collection quest but generally I skip those. It might be worth while to go to the different zones in your level range - and pick and choose the easiest and quickests quests from both e.g. do Mulgore/Durotar and Barrens/Silverpine for instance (if you are Horde - not inlcuded BC areas since I havent upgraded 3 of my accounts)

As I leveled my "normal" characters I avoided instances like the pest - I did them maybe once if at all...now I find it a fun challenge to "solo" the instances with my Shaman Army...you actually level up quite nicely if you are focused on mastering the instance and gettting phat lewt! But I am mostly 19-21 now so who knows how it will go later,

I don't even bother with that. I just roll my face around on the keyboard and people seem to just die. Full S3 people get might pissed when they see:

You have died.

:P

In all seriousness, the new patch 2.3 updates really reward questing as you level. Skip any drop/collection quests that don't lead to good loot, a fun chain or an instance quest.

So would you advice to do as many instances as possible? Or just to level normal, and skip the collecting quests?

Honestly, if you haven't upgraded to TBC then do so. Leveling in the Blood Elf and Draenai areas is:

A. FUN

and

B. GREAT LOOT, GREAT XP, AND GREAT LORE

I'm almost tempted to go back and start leveling everything back again just for the heck of it.

I haven't seen most of the instances for this game as I was mostly soloing while leveling. Even at 70, I still haven't seen most of the instances.

I have 5 Draneis, so I quested at the new zone until I was completely done with their starting zone and started running instances.

I'm just running instances 2-3 times. Do a quick research on wowwiki and wowhead to find quests for the next instance, run the instance and complete the handful of quests.

I usually level once or twice by the time I'm finished (or bored) with the instance and I move on to the next one.

So far, running instances have worked me and is fun because I haven't seen it before.

If you just want to quest, just skip collection quests (unless it's a nice thread with a good reward at the end).

Yea I tested 2xWarlock and 1xPriest from level 1-10 took me 4 hours :( dont know why it took me so long :(....But it should get better when we go higher in level.

basically levels 1-15ish are a real nightmare due to developing the control of the group and the crappy collection quests that seem to be the norm at that level.

After that things start to improve as you can run instances to get a much better XP / kill ratio.

tbh though I really find those 1st 15 levels a nightmare

Does it get better after you get out of that? Only running two chars because of money, so I can't do instances.

I've done every quest during 1 to 20 with all of them in a group, all the loot quests etc.. it was the learning "how to control" time and that the control/makros feels smooth.
I suggest to play relaxed and do the quest you like to do, but instances are also brings good XP boost.

My first post 8)

Well I just started tri-boxing and after several class changes I decided on a priest and two mages. I'm only level 12 but the leveling hasn't been that bad IMO. I take all the quests regardless if they are collection quests or not and the reason for that is if you don't you'll end up having to grind so why not grind and get some bonus xp for completing a quest as well.

I'll probably just continue this way for a while as I dont have a full group to do instances and I'm not sure if If I want to activate another of my accounts just to run myself though them.

I leveled 5 shammies together with quests till level 8... then replaced my main shammie, with my 70 fury warrior and headed into RFC. It took absolutly no time to get them to the twenties.

I finally stopped the "uber carebearing" at 22, and replaced my warrior with my matching 46 Shammie, which is meant to be part of the team when finished.

So while I'm still twinking (with a 46 in the group) my leveling has slowed by a huge margin. I just got the kids to 28 last night, so they could start the Nesingwary quests in STV. Because they are all kill quests, they FLEW by. My 46 (Enhancement twinked shammie) would do all the damage, and the 28s would heal him and toss a lightening bolt in once in a while that would be resisted :)

Anyways, they got an enormous amount of xp for that quest, and I finished the night by ding'n to 29.

Having multiple toons means you can do things you can't on your own. So far I'm finding success in running quests that are 3-5 levels above my group. The xp payout is insane, and it goes quickly because I have 5 toons helping.

But for the first 1-20 levels, as many folks have said, they will kick your face in. Don't give up. If you can, get twinked through some instance and pick up a few levels in a matter of hours.

Boom

Over the last few days I have really found the curve changing. 1-20 was really pretty slow for me. I had collection quests go grey to me before I completed them... blech.
I hit 20 and it was like magic. My xp/hr went from around 1.5-2k to 6-7k. I seriously think it took less time to go from 20-24 than from 16-20. But my first DM run took me like 4 hours. Not because I was wiping, but because I kept stopping, doing research, rewrite macros, come back and test the macro... very slow going. I did BFD much faster, and by my third run everything was really smooth. (I gotta say I hate that murloc room though... doesn't seem to matter how I do it, I always end up with the whole room on top of me. *HATE* murlocs. Got the gloves though).

I love my G11, I think it makes it possible to run 4 different classes. I have all 18 side keys mapped to an impossible key combo like:Ctrl-Alt-Q or Ctrl-Alt-Shift-W. I then have the main part of the keyboard dedicated to my main. G1 is Frost Bolt, G2 is Dot Sequence, etc. Once I got a good pattern down, my guys are running about 95% of what a normal toon would do in terms of dps etc.

I cannot stress enough taking the time to research your macros and get them dialed in. /stopcasting in front of Polymorph is a great example - it is almost mandatory for Poly to work in a multibox setup.

Anyway, just stick with it, it gets a lot easier and more fun once you hit instances, and the quest xp gets higher too.

I couldn't take it anymore and just ditched my 4 new chars. 3 of my 4 accounts were previous accounts I already had when I was dual boxing. All 3 accounts have a character in their mid 30's! I managed to find a priest, druid, mage and lock all near the same level. Had to do 3 character transfers to get them on the same server.

Sadly the server is PVE and they are allies :(

But at least I just skipped ~16 levels. It is hard to play 4 different classes though. But when everyone is fully buffed, they have hella stamina (blood pact, fort, motw), lol.
