According to http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/RAF#RAF_Example_Setups, if a main account is linked, you can't boost the other four. I have 5 linked and when grouped with a 62 main, the other four seem to get triple xp from mobs in instances. Does anyone know what the article is talking about ?

this is one of those bugs that blizz is supposed to fix "some time soon", and who know how long that will be. but according to a blues post (can't find the actual post right now) if you have a character in your group that is 5 or more levels above (not sure about under) the group "should" get no xp bonus. but as of right now this has not been fixed so you can have an 80 in a group with 4 level 10's and run them through DM and they will get 3x exp bonus. this is supposedly going to be fixed but it is on there "soon" list so it could be fixed tomorrow or some time next year or even later...
Hope this helps some. ^_^

If you want to do boosting, I'd have a higher toon unlinked.
That way they can join the group, and be as many levels above the four linked toons as you like.
In the "near" future, this will prevent bonus experience from RAF, if anyone in the group is high enough for the content to be trivial.
Of course "near future" has meant a day, and it has also meant over three years for Blizzard.
It is on the to do list, but probably not a high priority.

Why wouldn't you link it from the main account? If you don't link it then you start with a fresh unlinked account to start the link chain. However, if you do link it then even if you don't use the main account for any new toons you still have the option of having it be granted levels. So, if you get bored after leveling up your team you can create a toon on your main account, level it to 30 and then have it granted to 60.
Why start with a fresh account? Any levels you gain on that account won't be able to grant levels to anything else. Definitely link from your main.
Edit: nevermind, I see that you're asking about a rule that hasn't yet been implemented. Since it only takes about 30 played hours to get your team to 60, I doubt Blizzard enacts this rule before your team is 60 so you should definitely link.
Also, since your link would be Main -> B -> C it is possible that B would still get the RAF bonus since C in the group also grants the 3x. Even if they enact it that the link between Main -> B does not grant RAF bonus due to 5 levels higher, it's possible that the B -> C link would compensate.

Yeah the only reason you don't like your main account is so that you can use a character to boost 4 alts at once through instances. Leveling with 5 chracters 1-60 is pretty quick these days, especially with RAF, so it's your call on what you think is easier. Boosting is definitly faster, but not the funnest thing in the world. It took me about 15ish played hours to boost 1-60 RAFd toons with a 70 lock...with an 80 it might be alot faster.
TBH I think a level 80 resto shaman in 3.0.8 would be a crazy good booster, you could probably do strat in 3 pulls keeping yourself alive with heals easily while threatless magma totem kills everything in short order. This is assuming you get exp if magma totem does 100% of the damage to a target...I know for a fact that pets doing 100% damage on a target won't give you exp, but mabey totems are different
You can still link your chain to a friends account sense the free levels/mount from account A just get wasted otherwise (this has nothing to do with playing someone elses account, your just forwarding the RAF benefits to them as your RAF parent)
