from the website:
"SanDisk G3 SSDs stand to get five times as fast as the fastest 7,200 RPM HDDs, clocking in at up to 40,000 vRPM ('http://www.driveyourlaptop.com/sandisk-technical-expertise-and-metrics') and anticipated sequential performance of 200MB/s read and 140MB/s write." our usage is like 99% reads, so the write times don't matter as much.

only problem... this is an OEM device. (i have been told you can get it for $249 to the OEM)

thoughts?

I reckon that the seek time benefit from SSDs outweighs any major increases in read performance, at least for our purposes.

As a single drive this looks like a very nice choice. If the figures stated are true, one of these drives almost beats two generic SSDs in raid0.

That's a SATA II interface I see on the picture.-

I'd rather get a 300gb Velociraptor

The read difference is actually not that big, and the raptors write a lot faster.

the SSD disk blows the raptor away m8. its the seek time thats important for us gamers.
