Duelist for a Dual-Boxer

Thought I'd post this in here just in case you skip the front page =D

In World of Warcraft, titles are prestigious - and as for the title I received today if you can only fathom the irony of being crowned Duelist for Dual-Boxing, I’ll let your imagination do the rest.

In order to obtain the Duelist title you need to be ranked within the top .5-3% of all teams in the bracket. For 5v5 this is no easy feat, for a Quad-Boxer (someone who plays 4 at the same time) this is nothing short of tasting glory. After finding a nice core of healers to outfit my arsenal, I have come into Season 3 geared. My goal this time? Top 10.

I sat at 2k rating on several teams - why? that was my goal - and helping out guildies with points also contributed to it. A few days before the season ends my teammate says we should push it, why stop here? With a 75% win ratio we haven’t capped yet, so much potential.
So we played, after 20 games with an impressive 10-0 win streak we hit 2118 and called it a day. It wasn’t even over though, the higher rating we got the easier the teams became. Their traditional setups (2345) and overly defensive tactics were my success. This season will definitely raise some eyebrows and I will be carrying the torch, Are You Ready?

With a pocket healer + geared shammys, I expect nothing less :) Well done.

What do you do against a seige tank and pally healer combo? AoE them down? Lol. You just one shot them and turtle down and repeat.

If I were to do arenas, I would be shammys. The combo is strong in arenas but not as strong in mass PvP as mages.

Gotta love the 30+ minute LOS turtle vs turtle fights. Even better trying to keep them from rezzing.

Nope, that's for anything better than .5% which is pretty much the top 20 teams. By last look I was ranked 86th out of 5000 teams. I might of been able to make a push for it last season but I was already happy as is and my teammate needed to study for his mid terms.

Er I am Orc :) and they both get the same ability - Horde is called Bloodlust / Alliance is called Heroism.

The ability I meant was Bloodfury I think for Orcs, +100 dmg for 15 seconds or something like that. It's a moot point now anyway.

Edit: Bah, my 70 pally is alliance, so guess that means Draenei shamans for me. Oh joy!

I had actually chosen Tauren myself while "testing". My 70 warrior is a Tauren, and I dig the race. But 5 of them on the screen at once actually gets in the way. Mobs would disappear behind the Wall-o-Beef™.

And Groundstop isn't that fabulous. As a warrior, it resets my swing timer, and only stuns for 2secs. It's also channeled, so there's plenty of time to be interrupted. And by the time your 1.5 second GCD is done, you have .5 secs of stun left with wich to do something.

I'd rather have the +143 to spell damage. :) (as per calculations found at wowwiki (http://www.wowwiki.com/Blood_Fury))

To be honest the Bloodfury talent which gives 143 Spell Damage is the biggest waste in arena's.

When using it you just give yourself the equivalent of Mortal Strike for 15 seconds. My healers always complain so I eventually took it off my bars. The problem with Tauren for me is also what Totems stated, they are too big and chunky - hard to see. Orcs get a passive 15% stun resist which I value higher for my style.

One of the most popular PvP classes for Alliance is Gnome due to the racial Escape Artist. Being so small they are able to hide inside big chunky Tauren's which will wreak havoc on LoS issues. I noticed that as a big dilemma when I first tried them out on the test realm.

IMO, 5-boxing a 4-1 team in 5v5 arena would be silly, think of it as playing 4v5 because right off the bat any team is going to focus-fire the single... I think Ellay had it right for choosing a singular class to run with.

You toons have got almost the same names, how's that in PvE? I mean when you get, for example, lightning debuff at Solarian, isnt that pretty hard to react fast and understand which toon have got the debuff?

Thats like saying "multi-boxing in arenas would be silly, think of it as playing X chacters badly, when you could have 5 players playing each character better!".

The whole point of multi-boxing is doing the challenging and impossible with one person. Hence my comment of ROLL A HEALER! :P

If I get focus fired it will result in 1-2 people dead on the other team before my bubble even has a chance to wear off.

As far as healing hoes, it gets pretty intense and there are a lot of close calls. There are a variety of teams we play, ranging from 4 dps to standard 345 and drain teams. Every team brings something different to the table. All of these teams have the ability to hurt, and hurt bad. Healing can be a bit difficult as 4 shamans can be easily aoed, and as a paladin without an aoe heal or a good instant heal it is difficult to adjust to a sudden change of targets.

A bubble and a bop is what really sets me apart from any other healer. And my hammer, while resisted a ton (damn it) helps a lot against teams trying to run away from us.

A lot of the healing that needs to be done is anticipated, you need to know when to bubble to not get cced, and be ready to throw in some big heals (blood lust really helps there).


What I am trying to say is that healing is not much different then it is for a healer in any other 4 dps team. In fact, it is probably a bit harder due to the lack of mobility that a dual-boxer has.


Oh, and there are plenty of teams who can not be easily gibbed by your standard lightning bolt > earthshock > ns chainlightning combo. Soul Link warlocks, ice mages, paladins, pain suppression, grounding totems, cloak of shadows all make it very difficult.


It is not as easy as it seems, the good teams always adapt and adjust and it is a challenge every day to face them.

I never said that. I said that the REACTION was the same.

In PvP, if I were facing a 4 dps 1 healer team, I would ALWAYS spike the healer first, even if it were a multiboxer.

That is ALL I am saying. I am not saying 5-boxing is not difficult. I am not saying that 4 boxing < 5 boxing. FFS calm down.

being a priest in BGs is like having a big kill me sign.. they ALWAYS focus fire the healer... doesn't matter if you're boxing or not
