View Full Version : How to multibox Wintergrasp?

For those of us on small pop servers that can actually play Wintergrasp without the lag issues, how exactly do we do that? I haven't really tried it that much because of the vehicle involvement. I really hate vehicles while multiboxing. Is there effective and helpful things we can do without vehicles or is there some way to use a vehicle? And the server I'm on has a huge population imbalance, so my side (Alliance) is usually heavily outnumbered, so I'd like to be able to do something constructive that will help us win as well as help me get honor.

personally, with my 5 boomkin, i like to stealth near a wall and either blow up turrets (if i'm on offense) or get behind tanks and kill them (on D). Not a lot of people can solo tanks and turrets, and it really helps your side a lot. also it's easy to cap the workshops when you have 5 toons there. And then there's the epic battles on the steps of the hold, those are always fun...

on offense i have no stragety personally, only done wintergrasp a few times on mostly defense...
But on defense i hide right inside a wall below the stairs to get to the turrents, and i drop my totem farm and nuke the crap outta everyone that comes in,

it's freakin awesome! man i'm at work now and i got the itch to do wintergrasp, i might hit my neighbor to get some pvp goin.

Offense I usually killl cannons and just kill stuff until the perma lag starts. Then I just watch the screen as I warp around unable to do anything. Defense I usually kill a few people until the perma lag starts. Then I just watch the screen as I warp around unable to do anything.

There are some advantages, but there's some disadvantages as well. "Hmmm, we have 19 Alliance in this wintergrasp. Someone go hop on the Horde vent and see what they have." "Well, the /who list caps at 49, so we're not really sure."

Who was your characters on magtheridon? Does that new server have pug raids constanlty?

I usually start pug WG raids on my server so i have control of the groups from the start. We usually end up with two full raids on our side during the daytime. Every comment I have had within WG raids, with regards to my multiboxing, has actually been very positive and I'm well known for running the pugs now.

My tactic is to focus on destroying vehicles, which is pretty darn easy with four ele shamans and four TS. At other times I tend to hold back and play an intense support role, looking after the gung-ho characters who dive into mobs of alliance with tenacity. Surviving against (and killing) single opponents with tenacity is actually pretty easy if you turtle tank with chain heal and knock them down slowly.

When you are defending, you can lurk on the corner towers, get off a few FS + LB and then hide before any caster can cast on you or death knight DG you. Hiding just inside the choke points created by the destroyed walls is also a great tactic as the opposition tend to run right past you as you are casting 4 x chain lightning on their asses :D

When the poop hits the fan, popping blood lust and seeing it buff 40 people in your midst is a sure way to cause some carnage!

I don't spend a lot of time in Dalaran, however I have been invited to Naxx raids before. I've done a couple Vault/OS/Naxx raids (havent won shit ;( ) and the only thing I fear is nubs that quit if you wipe once. Seriously one raid entered OS and wiped on the 5th pull or so (due to a roamer add) and it fell apart. So dumb. Anyways I was Pestilence, Famine, Death, War and Conquest on Magtheridon and I do believe I talked to you in guild chat. Is that guy with pepper names still playing? Something like Greenpepper, Redpepper, Yellow etc.

Ya I figured he quit, he seemed quite bored(with WoW in general) when he ran me through the Direbrew event.

He is the smart one if he did quit. Save the frustration and money. I feel like a dummy sticking with this bs. I get so frustrated in pvp. So many aoe stuns, knockbacks, and bs it always seems like only a few toons get to cast between all the interrupts.

Cant see why you stick with it if you hate it soo much...

Anyway on topic:

On the attack i place my shamans right outside the north west corner of the fortress and take down the cannons the same second WG starts.. Then tell my raid to take the sieg here since its pretty much impossible to defend without cannons.. From that point i just hang around defending the sieg and wait for the cannons to respawn just to take them out again.

Defence is hard no doubt about that and we always lose a defence and win an offense, the only way around is to steal sieg shops wich should be possible with 10-15 but its not enough with 4 or 5 on my server.

I am not as smart :D

If I was then I would cancel my accounts and focus on real life. I dont know about you all but after playing this game from release its 90% pain 10% fun now. I guess if I was more a pve guy I wouldnt know any better. But I am focused on pvp so I see all the messed up things about classes and battlegrounds. Wintersgrasp is actually a good idea of a bg. To bad it becomes server lag fest minutes after the start of each match. It must be nice to actually be able to do something in wintersgrasp besides look at everyone warp across the screen.

I pretty much started boxing to be like Ellay. PVP was always my thing but I find as of late I am getting more into PVE again with my team.

Ill post a video soon of me 5 boxing 5 demolishers in wintergrasp..once you do it a few times..its easy and it destroys walls in seconds. I would say that 90% of the time I'm the one who breaks the walls and the door to the orb room when I play there. If one of my demos die, i ignore that toon until I'm all dead and at the GY. I have a blast doing it 8)

I agree with you mate and i also had the idea several times but this happened in TBC and no matter what people say i doubt seson 3 and 4 could have been more balanced.

Sure there are specs that did crap in pvp but overall all classes had a decent chance in some bracket.

For me who started out a paladin abit into tbc faced the cold bitch slap of blizzard by getting a big nerf in S2. Suddenly i was stuck in 5vs5 since i was holy.. Working shifts makes it hard to get into a active 5vs5 and in bgs rogues just locked me down. It wasnt easy to kill at all but getting decent healing out compared to my druid was hard. And even then i had time to cyclone, feral charge/bash and do a random root.

I took a step into the arena and we lost the 15 first matches mainly due to beeing HEAVY outgeared. It looked impossible but we took 10 new matches last night and even thought we only won 1 it doesnt look to bad in my eyes.

To survive the current burst im 100% in need of assisting my priest in healing and he has to use divine hymn. Im working on getting HEX up and running, and just by psy screaming and using divine hymn we screwed up most teams burst.

Now the only team that REALY steamed us was ranked 10th so no biggies there! :P And im sitting on crappy 1450 spelldamage(with FT), 15k hp and 400 resillience!!

What i was trying to say was how do you manage five vehicles? I was under the impression that follow cant be used between vehicles. I'd be keen to try this if you have a good management strategy to share :D

I bet the only way to try and box 5 vehicles is use altnerate movement keys. You need to line your cars on top of each other and use the keys to move. I will try this tomorrow and let you know my results. One problem I see to this is your dead toons not getting credit for the pvp quest. It's worth a shot though.. In my case I need to do it in the first minutes of the game. After that its so lagged you cant move. On magtheridon the defenders always lose due to the lag. Nobody can fight and the car drivers just spam attack towards the walls and vault. At some point they will attack damaging the walls.

I believe you get credit as long as you don't released AND they were damaging the vehicle/killing the person before they died. I notice when I leave my shaman un-released and dead next to me in a big fight they get credit for whatever they were killing before they died, but anything attacked after they did not...

This time i was just adding that server side lag has started to creep in on our server now that we consistanty have 120 people or more fighting in WG.

I simply use a combo of auto run and fast turning to alter direction. I move them all out of the shop first and point them where i want them to head. Then I hit autorun one at a time and adjust the direction every now and then. Its not hard at all. Just takes practice and a little work. But I love doing it.
Catapults are too fast to do this. Demos are fast enough to get there in a reasonable amount of time, and you can spam 1 while moving for extra damage to stuff in front of you. I also use these to take down towers and kill the shops in the keep.
