So... half the time I hit a button to cast an ability, my slaves target the last mob my main had targeted. Needless to say this is very annoying, especially when the mage sheeps the main target.

I'm using /assist party1. Is there something else I should be using?

I don't use any /targets or /assists for targeting. I use the option target= in the commands. Also, don't ever expect your alts to target on the same microsecond your main does a command. Target on your main, then push a command for your alts. It takes your latency time for Blizzard to see who your main has targeted. Then your latency time for Blizzard to tell your alts. That is a pretty long time, so you can't do things super fast.
/cast [target=party1-target] DPSSpell
/cast [target=party1-target-target] HealSpell

You can put in stoppers if you want to limit even more.
/cast [target=party1-target, harm] (only cast if you have a target that is hurtful----calls you names, lol).
/cast [target=party1-target, nodead, exists] (only cast if you have a non Bruce Willis in Sixth Sense target, and have a target).

Hope that helps. And again, target on your main, then press the attack key (so there is time for your target to sent to the servers).

I personally use a focus based system, which means I can switch leaders on the fly just by changing focus.

basically, you give all your toons a macro that sets /focus maintoon

then all you had to do is have your spells look something like this-- /cast [target=focustarget] spell

a lot of people go as far as to have all spells on all toons(even your main) have the target=focustarget in all their spells so you can switch just by hitting the macro to change focus to someone else.

And yes, it works a LOT better than /assist. I still occasionally have them cast at my last target, but very, very rarely, and only if I'm mashing buttons(probably my fault)

Ok, I'll try that focus thing. I'm using Jamba with HotKeyNet and man it's working nice. It changes the leader and focuses on the leader every time I change the PiP. Thanks for the help.

Edit:

Wow, that really shows the delay. When I target on my main the target doesn't show up on the slave windows for a good 1/2 sec or so. Thanks for the info guys.

a lot of times i find this happens due to lag. i've done this before when i target a mob to check it out and then target back to another mob, cast, and i get my slaves attacking the previous target. so maybe wait like... another second before casting.
