Hi everyone. Have been dual boxing for a while, but finally got some questions that I haven't found to be answered.

Primarily, how do you all deal with Broadcastkeys and chatting in guild/party/replies? This is driving me nuts, as I type, my secondary toon just spazzes all over. While this was entertaining the first few times I need some suggestions on how to disable this.

I was thinking of using chatmod to automagically enter a chat room so any enter command would spam that text to that chatroom. But this doesn't solve R or /guild or /party.

Any ideas/solutions out there?

When i talk to people in whisper, or gchat, I hit the Pause/Break key which is the default interrupt key for Keyclone to stop broadcasting.

From my experience, if you take off the "Enter" and the "/" from your alts, well they won't be chatting at the same time as you do.

Also another thing, mostly the problem is that when you type, all your keybinding with letters do w/e are set on your alts. To fix that, you could get a Xkeys panel and set your skills with CTRL or ATL and not use any letter for spells/skills but then again that's to the extreme. So yeah, for easy fix "Pause" is the way to go. Get people on Vent and just talk it can help.

I do the same.

Suspend broadcasting while I chat, re-enable it when I've finished.

It's always entertaining, because even after all these months of 'boxing, I still forget to re-enable broadcasting for the next pull at least 60% of the time, which is excellent reflex training! ;)

It's the only thing you can reasonably do. Even if you just disable the "reply" hotkey, whatever your typing will still get received by your other characters and they'll break-dance all over the place and attack something random every time you press the wrong key.

As a belt'n'braces measure, I also use a mod that blocks whispers from anyone I don't know (I don't want abuse, and I don't need fans!), unmap 'R' on all drones, and start each session with a "/p ." to make sure any random rubbish I accidentally spam only gets seen by me!

The last bit is especially important for those rare occasions where my XKeys gets it wrong and puts some semblence of "/cast [target=blah blah" command into whatever my default chat window is

I used a KVM to send text only to my main and then /dnd on my other characters. When I wanted to chat, I would switch (or use a dedicated USB keyboard) and then when I needed to resume, I would switch back.

The dedicated KB is probably best as it saves you from having to (or forgetting to) switch out of talk mode and back into combat mode to be able to do anything.

Just plug a USB KB in and type away. You can have multiple keyboards under XP no problem. Vista too, I would assume.

I use Synergy w/ Broadcast keys.

Disabling the broadcast is an idea. But it's probably simpler to just talk on my secondary. That way I don't have to remember to enable broadcast. I'm sure I'd forget quite often.

I'm all for easy. :)

Thanks for the tips/ideas. :)

The first thing I do for my followers, is to unbind every singel keybinding in wow, and just bind those that I would use. This solves most of the problems. If you need to chat with your followers, just bind another key for chatting with them and problem solved :)

There is also a nice mod called "twoboxtoolkit" that makes your followers resend their whispers to a channel. This is very useful for monitoring whispers.

I just started dual boxing but what ive noticed is some ppl may also whisper my second toon. I solve this by using the pause function in keyclone. and also i use the addon twobox toolkit which has an option of routing your tells from your alts to whomever u want (my main). they may think its weird that i respond back from the main but no matters its usually ppl curious about the duel boxing.

so to answer your question:

to stop other clones from responding/talking gibberish, use something that pauses the broadcast on those keys (saves from having to redo all the keys, also remember keyclone ftw)

and good way to manage ur tells/following etc is an addon called twobox toolkit.

good luck to u
