I picked up an Xbox360 on the day it came out. I didn't really fall into the hype about a Wii but I do love the Zelda games that's been going on for years. PS3...eh I probably won't worry about it until Final Fantasy XIII comes out :P

360 and ps3 are awsome. I prefer Resistance(ps3) to Gears of War personally

I have a Wii, in all honesty, its awesome. One of the problems with gaming in recent years is the general lack of innovation, where people are more concerned with performance and graphics, with the Wii, these take a backseat to just having fun.

Multi-player, the Wii is amazing fun, great for drinking games, etc.

Theres also enough in the way of good single-player games to keep you entertained for hours. I haven't really played much on the Xbox 360 and not at all on the PS3, but to be honest, they look rather similar to the previous generations, with better graphics, something that doesn't really appeal that much to me.

If you want to have fun, get a Wii.

My GF and I both enjoy the DS (emulation scene is GREAT) and our Wii. Not sure I love the controls on the Wii but she is not as much of a gamer as I am and seems to enjoy it.

Ive got a Wii with a Wiikey installed and every game released to date. Many are not that great but the ones that are kick the crap out of most games out there. Controls are iffy on some of them too but once again the ones that got it correctly are awesome. I personally am not a fan of sports games but "The Bigs" is awesome. Pitching and hitting are awesome. Also the system is worth the 250 for the bowling game alone. My friend brings his over and we set up 2 tv's going with 2 wiis and 8 people bowl. Add in a couple of 30 packs and you got a great time.

Got the Wii, but after I started dualboxing it has been collecting dust. Except for a fun ride in Excite Truck every other day. The 360 and PS3 are not in my price-range, and I have no HDTV to use with them, thanks to the insane prices we have on electronics.

It's a great party machine, it's quick to get into for a fast few rounds of this or that, the more physical you get the more fun it is, the girls love it and it's basically a pick-up line over here - Wii ownership.

Sure wouldn't mind a PS3 or a 360 though. With a HDTV, of course. That latest Ridge Racer game looks sweet.. but then again, so does the potential for fun once I level my priest duo even further in World of Warcraft.

I don't have a console at all :)

The last one I bought was an N64 for some multi-player action in things like Golden Eye and that was great fun while it lasted.

The last one I had bought *for* me was a PSP, which I still love and was a God-send when I was in hospital, but I haven't found any compelling reason to use it except when I'm not in reach of my PC!

I guess I'm not really a console person, whatever one of those is, and have no plans to buy one any time soon. At all, in fact.

If you don't mind my asking, what were you hospitalized for? If you are not comfortable sharing, I understand.

what were you hospitalized for?

My first "major" incident was an adverse reaction to an ERCP to remove a billial blockage following a slightly botched gallbladder removal.

That, with a some unfortunate related and unrelated complications (total renal failure, pneumonia, yada yada yada) stuck me intensive care for three weeks being fed through tubes and having painkillers injected into a tube in my neck directly to my heart. Yummy.

A further two weeks on the ward and a week recuperating at home and I was back at work, even if I did need to stop and rest three times on the 4 flights of stairs to one of my clients at the time ;)

A few months later, and entirely unrelated, I was diagnosed with jaw cancer. That layed me low for 3 months in total, although... *touch wood*... I'm ok at the moment and apart from a couple of small scars that look like I was in a (very precise!) knife fight people generally wouldn't know that I've got a half-metal upper jaw!

So, a bit of bad luck over the past couple of years, but such is life, and its been a blessed life on balance so I have no complaints.

It *is* quite surprising how quickly you can get yourself fit for a return to work when you're a freelancer though ;)

I have both the 360 and the ps3, prefer the 360, but I have been a Microsoft console fan since the Dreamcast ;).

Eventually I will get a wii, it looks good, and I enjoyed the Gamecube.

I got all 3, although the 360 belongs to my bro. I don't really play the 360 much, the PS3, well mostly just PS2 games because there's no good games for it, like Final fantasy or Metal Gear. The Wii, was fun, but after a few days I got bored with it. Then again I spend most of my time on my Computer and those 3 are just collecting dust...

Wii and DS... I am playing through Zelda atm and Wii/Gamecube rocks for party games

but I get limited game time as it is right now and would rather spend that time in WOW.... the irony is, the Wii was a birthday present from my girlfriend so I am obliged to put visible time into it to show that it is appreciated! ;)

Will never by a PS3 Sony can shove it where the sun... well you get the idea.

Shame the 360 isn't a good media extender or I might have bought it.

@Otlecs

damn nasty :( but I know what you mean about freelance... had a nasty bike accident and checked myself out of hospital to go back to work

All 3. Hmm.

Wii is a bit gimmicky, I don't know if it will be able to stick around in the years to come. It has several very respectable titles, don't get me wrong, but the hardware will cripple it.

PS3 has a lot of promise, but don't expect too many stellar titles just yet, but the library is growing. By far the best firmware. I had very little trouble getting it to stream movies and music from my computer, which is nice due to the quantity of .avi movies I have.

Xbox 360 I'm not sure yet. It's a pretty decent mix. Solid (if loud) hardware, functional(if Microsoft-esque) firmware, and the best game library of the three. Live is as great as ever, though PSonline is shaping up fairly well also.

*shrug* You pretty much get what you pay for. I can't stress how glorious the PS3 firmware is. Same interface as the PSP, if you've used one of those.
