I'd love to know the preference of the author. I'm really not opposed to anything on that list with the exception of Java and Python. Java only because everything is a reference (and I don't like that paradigm at all) and Python. Not that I inherently hate Python, but I just never did well with it even though I'm an accomplished PHP guy. And yes, I like PHP even though it began to violate my, "Nothing should be a reference unless I say it is" rule.

Funny list nonetheless.

The rest of it didn't seem very funny to me because the characteristics that are given for the languages I know well seem mostly wrong or superficial.

This isn't meant to be funny but I can't help thinking that C++ is really like Hinduism. Both are huge, sprawling, syncretistic amalgamations.

I take offense to the perl reference on that page as well as the one on the page it references (if languages were cars).

I can program in many languages and Perl is my absolute favorite. Its the only language where I can't wait to find new reasons to write things with it.

The person who wrote this knows next to nothing about these languages (C is restrictive? Good grief, C is famous and widely criticized for a lack of restrictions), so I can't get offended by any of it.

Hmm. After working on a huge project with 20+ people that were all writing in C++ (academia, so not really production work); I can appreciate the line about 'It's so versatile that it can be used to be the foundation of anything, from great atrocities to beautiful works of art' of course; that is true of, well, every language. Meh. its meant as a joke,and I found most of them pretty humorous. Meh, Its a joke, and I don't find any of the references to the languages I know to be completely wrong; none are totally accurate either. I think its silly to take offense at it, meh. And no offense the perl guy, but I found it sort of...weird. But then, I like PHP, so thats probably why. I also (*gasp*) like Python... I dunno about C. I started to argue that the article was right; but then I changed my mind. lol. I think you guys are analyzing it a bit too much=0
