Howdy folks,

This question is directed towards those of you who are familiar with raiding Naxx 10 man (either boxing or on your mains). I know towards the end of TBC some of you were able to find some success in 5 manning karazhan. All I keep hearing is how super easy naxx is. Do you guys think that a 5 man team will ever be able to achieve the same success in 10 man naxx as you did in 10 man kara at 70? (Wearing heroic gear).

Just curious,

Thanks.

Good evening (actually in germany it's middle of the night about 11pm :) )

I really think that this could be possible, haven't seen naxx and I don't know how much Micromanagement is needed to do Naxx (Movement/ Target Change etc.).
I guess the difficulty is comparable to 10 Instances (Classic) Everyone is was going with 8, some did it with 5 (as the cap was still 10).

Greetings,
Shaitan

never say never. I would never dream of soloing Onyxia 3 yrs ago either. I've taken 3-5 shammies into naxx filling the DPS roles. Some fights seemed impossible to be boxed at the moment, Instructor Razuvious ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Instructor_Razuvious'), Four Horsemen ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Four_Horsemen'), Grobbulus ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Grobbulus'), come to mind. I am sure with enough twick in your movement keys (key map with movement specifically designed for the encounter), and enough gear obviously, should be doable.

edit: impossible to be boxed at the moment just by yourself is what i mean. i.e. For Instructor Razuvious, you need to mind control two students to tank the instructor. Switching aggros back and forth, not an easie thing to do (box). But, with that said, I recently find that by running all 5 clients on 1 box. Individual movement was not as big of a problem as before when I run them on multiple PCs. mouse click and move is pretty fast. At least as fast as a slow keyboard turner. Again, totally possible in my opinion to solo box naxx, just not right now.

Just taking a SWAG here... some bosses are certainly doable 5-man with the gear in-game right now. Heroic (25-man ) Loatheb has already been 2-manned for example.
Once higher tiers of gear come out it should certainly be possible to clear it, but the movement-intensive fights may not be reasonably possible for a multi-boxer.

Yea I've been through the 10 man which is actually a bit harder that the 25 man version and there many several fights that I don't think you would be able to box due to intensive movement or need for multi-tanks. I'll give ya and idea of which fights would be possible with the current gear level.

Heigen the unclean this would be extremely difficult but possibly do able
Noth the Plaguebringer
Possibly patchwerk if you had mad dps and 2 tanks with a ton of stamina

The rest involve too much coordination, movement between separate groups and more than 1 tank.

A lot of the kara fight mechanics are very simple compared to naxx.

Thanks for the responses.

I thought I saw some nice drops that come from trash in naxx (looking on wowhead now to verify im not crazy)... so I guess that would be an addendum to my original question.

Thanks.

Edit: putting the items that i find that are zone drops here for future reference (and if anyone cares to see)... unfortunately nothing great (for me at least)..

Yep, quite a few trash drops that a 5-man group could farm.

People were really only 5 manning Kara once patch 3.0 hit and all classes got massive DPS boosts. Before that people were certainly taking multibox teams, along with others, and doing kara, but I don't think anyone was really 5 manning it outside of perhaps a few Sunwell geared people.

Naxx will certainly be doable like this but it'll take a while for people to "outgear" the instance -- ie once you have some people sporting season 7 (or whatever) or T9 they will probably so outgear Naxx that it'll be a lot easier.

BTW its still worth doing kara 1st boss once a week, I do it every monday. His mount dropped for me yesterday, hopefully i'll get 5 in the coming months :)

I think it is mostly 5-mannable with T7 25 man gear, actually, certainly with T8 if it's a significant ilvl bump.

If so, where's trash bigger "population"?

Thanks for feedback.

I figured this was the case, but what about trash? Ive linked 7 or 8 items that may or may not be good upgrades for people.. im wondering if well at least be able to farm some trash with some success.

Thanks for the response.

Thanks for feedback. The plagued gargoyles in the plague wing would be impossible for 5 characters at 80, you have 6 seconds to kill them once they hit 30% otherwise they regen to full, and with only 3 dps you'd need something ridiculous like 6k dps to pull it off. When the come in packs of 2 they have overlapping poison dots. So you'd need to stupidly outgear them, and if you stupidly outgear them, you don't want the loot from them to 5 man :)

Some of the constructs in the construct wing come with nasty aoes and knockbacks - that send you into slime that slowly kill you (and do 50% damage in health and mana if you leave the slime), these may be doable, but extremly hard and probably not worth the effort.

Spider wing may be doable, but they force pull and poison charge, so it's a dps race. These are hexable/polyable.

Military trash would be the easiest, imho. packs of 4 that mortal strike, and summon skeletons and disease dot. They whirlwind so you need to keep them away from your followers. But, again, if you can 5 man these you probably don't want the loot they drop. Military also has the largest number of trash mobs before you have to engage a boss.

Keep in mind, that each wing only has maybe 10-15 trash pulls before you have to engage a boss to continue.

The trash drops are also ridiculously low, I've run 3 wings of kara on 2 chars for 2-3 weeks now and seen, I think, 2 trash drops in 10+ hours of inside the instance.

Keep in mind however that the 25 man version does drop BoE epics off bosses, so imo you are better off just farming gold and buying the epics when they get to reasonable prices in AH. The tanking boots recently were on the AH for 2k gold on my server, which is a crazy great price for the best tank plate boots a pally can get -- fortunately they dropped in one of my naxx25 runs and my pally got it for free :)
