View Full Version : Switching out a mage for a shaman, or, how do I boost a lvl 63 shaman to 80?

So some of you are aware of my PvE team Sparkle Motion from my videos. I've been getting frustrated with instances lately because I lack the extra buffs I need to really put the hurt on bosses. I have yet to completely clear an instance (at level) on my own in Northrend and I'm 77. :(

It's a bit discouraging, but I think that if I swapped out one of my mages for a shaman, things would be MUCH better. So my group composition will be a Paladin, Warlock, Mage, Shaman, and Priest heals. I'm more concerned about getting my entire group to 80 first and foremost, our guild really needs an 80 warlock, and my 77 is the highest in the guild so far.

So I ask you this, what's a good way to get my shaman to 80 as soon as possible with my regular team. Instance boosting? Soloing with TourGuide/QuestHelper/etc?

Well since I enjoyed you vids back in the day...6 months ago ;p

I PL my DK to 80(was 71) by tagging mobs. You might have to lvl your shaman up in outlands until 68-70 then you can start tagging. The nerf exp for 60-70 makes lvling solo in outlands real easy 2-3hrs per lvl solo. I just had my shamans in a group and the DK out of group. Shamans following the DK around, DK would round up AOE mobs and start dmging them. I did a EM/TS with the 4 shamans and it killed them all pretty much. 2k+ exp per mob 15-20k per pull. 400-500k exp/hr

Took 20-22hrs total.

If you need AOE spots let me know. You could do the same with your shaman, lighting sheild, fel iron spike on sheild. Thats pretty much it. You wont get full exp from tagging until you are with in 10 lvls iirc.

Easy to kill and quick respawns 5-6 in each pack pull 2 packs at a time. They are yellow so you will have to do a little work but still easy.
71-72 Iron Dwarfs in HF along the edge. There are about 20 of them, by the time you kill them all they refesh.
71-72 BT some frog looking things along the coast.
72-75 Northeast of Wintergarde, there's a large encampment of Onslaught mobs
that are purely melee. there are so many groups here that you can have
a field day with multiple pulls and respawns will occur when you go
back to the beginning.
74-75 Mustangs Grizzy hills
75-76 The entire Venture Corp Encampment on the northwest side of the
Suntouched Pillar is made of melee mobs. Plan out your pulls, and be
sure to stay a safe distance from the "boss" mobs. They're not elite,
but they have some nifty ablities that can throw off your pull by a lot.
77-80 Skeletal Runesmiths, Icecrown as soon as you can fly.

I take no credit for this, someone else did the work. I just had it in my Notepad from when I saw it and copied it. Credit goes to the author ;p

Excellent, thanks Fat Tire (in case you haven't seen it, here's my new guide ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=16952'). Not quite as old :p)

I was thinking about doing some Ramparts trash runs. round up a bunch of mobs and just AoE them down. I think at 80 and with my paladin, warlock, mage, and priest, I could AoE them all down fast enough.

You will get like 200xp rested per mob. Not worth it.

What I would do imo, spec your shaman enhancement, get some good weapons and quest until 70. Then start tagging. Have you healer just follow him around while questing popping him a heal /buffs when needed. Will lvl alot faster to 70 that way(un-grouped of course).

Well, my shaman would be a tad above level for Ramps since he's 63

My advice would be to run your shaman with the group and follow one of the questing level guides. XP per kill wont be all that hot, but you will breeze through quests like theres no tomorrow and level fast. Just set loot to free for all. I had a priest and 4 mages group and swapped out a mage for a paladin. with RAF to 60. I went to outlands and used Jame leveling gude 60-65. Im about half way through it and it says I should be level 63, but im about 5% away from 65 right now. Things just die with 3 mages doing your bidding and your shaman gets to pick up the peices.

I'm talking about boosting via my mage tapping the mobs and my shamies killing them. basically for ae you have to wait for TS cooldowns because totems take away exp. So i need the mobs to be 72 or higher. Ill just quest him to 71 ( so he can get some gear upgrades ) Then boost in the areas you listed after that 8)
