Recently started using voice commands to supplement controls on my alt-boxes

Was thinking of buying the Logitech Digital Precision PC Gaming Headset ('http://www.a-power.com/product-5113-347-1')

Does anyone have any experience with this headset? or any tips or recommendations?

Friend said that I should look for mute and volume controls for convenience.

Real headphones, and a Zalman clip-on microphone ($10ish on Amazon).

Even something as cheap as the Koss SB40s would make a better headset (note, it comes with a boom microphone which is crap, so if you get this you should still get the Zalman clip-on).

Beyer DT880s with the Zalman clip-on are awesome if you have the budget.

I've been using the Sennheiser PC 151 for about 5 years now, ex girlfriend bought it for me once upon a time. Headset turned out to be a lot better than our relationship :P

Very good sound quality on these, and they've gone down a bit in price over the years.

The Koss SB40 isn't heavy. It's a closed superaural set, meaning it goes around your ears and seals out outside noise (to some degree).

Having at least decent headphones is important. It improves your ability to understand speech clearly, and it reduces transient noise which can tire you out more quickly on multi-hour gaming sessions. The closed sets also block out some background noise as well (case fans w/e). This is important completely separate from any considerations from appreciation of good audio.

If you game using headphones (or a headset, which is the same thing with a microphone chaser), and do so with any seriousness at all, you should be using something AT LEAST as good as the SB40. You can get the thing for $30, there's not really an excuse to use trashy headsets.
