I played LOTRO over a year ago and had a Guardian, Minstrel 2 box going. Now getting tired of WoW and thought I'd try LOTRO again for a while. Is anyone boxing LOTRO? What software and classes are you doing? When I 2 boxed LOTRO I just pressed the keys on 2 seperate computers.

I'm currently dual-boxing LOTRO with a few different combinations -- Minstrel / Warden, Captain / Guardian and Runekeeper / Champ..

Using Synergy to use one keyboard / mouse for both machines, and HotkeyNET to handle keys..

I tried every class and finally decided I enjoy Hunter most so I've been two boxing my Hunter and Minstrel. My Minstrel was already 40 from the last time I played LoTRO 18 months ago and in the last week I've gotten my Hunter to 28. I'm enjoying LoTRO so far and I think I'll level a Loremaster (I like classes with pets) or a Champion after I get my Hunter/Minstrel to 60.

I'm using Keyclone and Multiplicity to run my accounts on seperate computers. I have thought about adding a third account but I'm not sure how useful it would be. I'd like to run instances but I think managing 6 accounts might be too hard for me.

Octopus (by skarlot) is awesome if you can bear going through the motions to set it up. I drive 2 chars primarily from 1 keyboard/mouse.
I do have the 2nd kbd handy for intense situational healing combos. Hotkey autofollow is setup through shortcut ingame & my Razor Tarantula.

I use regular keys for the Hunter and ALT+ combos for the minnie. Works great.
I move my hand way right on the keyboard ASDF is utter crap. I actually use GYUK coz it gives me quick access to more keys and thumb for the ALT.

Pre-Moria I finished all but a couple of the Book quests 2boxing in groups. The best part of it all is when I mention it in groups most ppl say they didnt even notice i was boxing.

Have:
lvl 60 Hunter and Minstrel (luv it, super combo)
lvl 23 Warden 21 RK

Currently 4-boxing runekeepers using synergy w/broadcast. and hotkey net.The nice thing is they play a little like shamans. After you get your healing rock its pretty nice laying down 4 of them to draw aggro. also the fact that prelude to hope stacks is also a boon, if I see one of my guys getting a little to much damage, I can throw 4 of them on 1 toon, plus it can be spam if you have to run. Overall Iam liking the fun.

Depending on my mood, I 2-box, 3-box or 4-box lotro daily, using two computers. If I am only 2-boxing, i use only keyclone. When I triple or quad-box, I use only Hotkeynet. LOTRO requires a window to have keyboard foucs to receive input, thus the change in software when going beyond 2-boxing. I really like hunters, but am currently working on a captain for a 4th.

Using Innerspace, I 2 box. Atm its Minstrel/Hunter but I did start out with Hunter/Hunter. I have also done Captain/Hunter which was fun, putting both Oathbreakers and HeartSeeker to the same key, got to love those 1 shots ;) If I didn't have so much going on elsewhere I would consider a 3rd.

I started 2-boxing (2 computers using a modified Synergy) with a Guardian/Minstrel combo. I moved onto a duo of Hunters. I 2-boxed the Hunters throughout the Rift pre-MOM.

Now I full-on multi-box with a Champ and 4 Rune-keepers in a group. I have 4 Runekeepers on 1 system and the Champ on another, using a combination of MultiBox (modified Synergy) and InnerSpace to control them all. Right now this setup has just hit East Angmar and is right around level 50.

I'm particulary having trouble wit 'yo must face target' when I'm dualboxing my champ/captain.

I am dabbling around in EQ2 atm, Its ok, but I am missing LotR a bit. I have a 50 champ and minst there atm. Will LotRs work with just innerspace? or can I use keyclone to broadcast the keys? Ill have to reopen the two and see what i can do. I have one beefy rig and a second semi beefy rig to test stuff on.

I started out using Keyclone. But I moved over to Innerspace when I found out I could run more then 1 instance of the game on my system. I currently run a Hunter/Minstrel combo. Thinking about rolling a 3rd. The answer is yes to both keyclone and Innerspace. Keyclone you will need 2 systems, Innerspace you only need 1.

Do you use ctrl + key for one toon and shift + key for the other? Cause atm I just synch the skills of my champ and captain.

I use my num pad keys for most of my minstrel heals. I put them on quickslots on bar 4 then assign them thru keymapping in the game. I could do this in Keymapping for innerspace but it would be more difficult to do. Being that I don't use these keys its perfect for running my minstrel on. I also have it set so that I can get in and out of warspeech using the numpad. I do have an issue with fighting trolls this because of AoE attacks they do. Problem is Minstrel is to close to the fight. I was thinking if I could put a Guardian up front, then a Hunter, and last the minstrel following this would work out great. Only part I have yet to figure out is how to get them back on follow after a CJ pops. Might have to consider the N52 keypad for this. Us it to issue follow commands will have to chat with Lax if his keymapping supports the n52

hello, since some of your are multiboxing with synergy, i wonder if you could help me. when moving my charakter on the remote computer, the screen move weird to any direction, but the one he is supposed to move to. so controlling the char with the mouse is impossible.
anyone else had this problem? i am using the original synergy, do i have to change to some other version/software?
thanks a lot in advance for any good hint.

Hey zoomer, you'll get a better response here: http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Board&boardID=35

Use /follow to move alt characters. if running 2 character use F2 to set assist back to main character. For CJ's use Num Zero which you have to go in and set up on keymapping and then arrow keys to set your CJ color, then F2 after the CJ completes. This is how I currently do my setup, works rather nicely

I now 6 box LOTRO ...

I am a hardware boxer with 6 PCS 6 LCDs so wont be of any help on software for boxing lotro though ...

it has been a blast ... i leveled my main to max level of 50 and stop playing for awhile came back to game and got second acount and made a hunter to run with my lore master ... did that for abotu a month .. recently add 4 more lifetime accounts

and currently switch between running the 4 young hunters or the two high level chars ... I am set up to 6 box but have not had a need for it yet ... becuase the others are still to young but when they are all at level 60 or close enough to group I will 6 box them

best follow command sfound for LOTRO imho

1.) set your keymapping to select F2 which is leader of group who youll be controling as main oe whoever you want them to folloe f3 f4 f5 f6 --- f2 is alwasy leader of group though and who i use ... now keymap this to the keystroke [

2.) make a shortcut key ....

type this

/shortcut 1 /follow

this will put a shortcut hotkey to autofollow in your spell slot 1 on user interface ( makesure its cleared for the time being )

now move this icon to an empty slot like on user bar 5 ....

now keymap this action on bar 5 to the key ]

Now when you hit [ all your chars select leader of group or whoever you set ... then when you hit ] they follow target ( leader etc )

now you can use formations ( assign w a s d keys different functions for dif chars to set up fighting formations and get chars away from melee you wish etc during fight .. then when figh over hit [ ] and everyone happy and following again

I hope that made sense heh

Thanks for posting the information, I discovered this just last weekend. I had been doing the the follow without /shortcut 57 /follow before then. I then mapped that to my num 9 button as I don't use my keypad when I play just one character. This helps me in other ways as well, using the numpad. When I need to turn the character on follow I set up my num + - / * for the a s d w keys. Using innerspace I set it up to go to all but current as I only use 2 character at the moment but it was enough that I was able to not only back up my character I can push it forward and even turn it if the npc I am attacking is a little to far to the right or left or even behind the character that is on follow. This truely has helped me survive much better.

For my minstrel skills I have cleared almost all of bar 4 on my hunter. It in the place of those I have slotted all my healing skills to that bar on my minstrel with 8 being warspeech and 9 as I said before for /follow. For fighting I use the 1 thru 9 keys for both. Its been very effective and survived alot of things in the past I would have died from. I think there is more that I could do but my concern is that it may automate the process. Thanks for the information.
