Hi,

i am starting a new lineup..i dont like anymore my old setup ( paly 4xshamy ). You thin i can do heroics with the following setup?

pally,3xmage,priest.

i am hot to start a new lineup and hope RAF is still active..so i have to buy 5x battlechest ( wow+ BC ).

any Hints?

imo it'll be a lot harder. I run pally tank, 1 mage, and 3 shamans and two things I've noticed in heroics (1) my mage is almost always the first to die. Cloth just takes so much more damage from random stuff, especially random charge attacks. (2) chain heal has saved my butt so many times. A dedicated healer has its pros and cons - that person is usually more mana efficient and can just focus on tossing out heals, but on the down side you basically lose 1 DPS slot, which can be important on dps race fights (which are a ton of heroic bosses).

3x mages are crazy fun however I'd imagine, I love my mage and when mirror image is up its awesome.

A couple people here run Pally, 3xmage, 1xpriest - I don't know how well they do in heroics though.

My mages/priest are waiting at level 60 for me to finish levelling so I can play them versus pally 4xshaman.

(I guess I can't answer the question except that I know others play that setup and I intend to try it myself).

Can't speak for heroics but I've started out with a druid tank, druid healer and 3 locks (talking about throwing yourself in at the deep end....) and have been taking down the TBC instances fine. Some harder than others of course - Mana Tombs for example has been slowly carving my soul into tiny pieces. It's all do-able if you work at it I guess.

With 3 x polymorph, nice AOE healing and a one button tank mash I think you'll be fine with heroics. Certainly would have been my choice in hindsight, put it that way....

Edit - I'll give you one tip, when you hit Outlands do lots and lots of Hellfire Citadel and Coilfang Reservoir instances. Do them til you can do your keybinds blindfolded - they're great learning instances. The reason I tell you this is that if your experience is anything like mine, Auchindon is going to hit you like a motherfucking sledgehammer.

I play mostly for PVE/instancing
I run:
Paladin (prot)
Mage (arcane plus pyro)
Mage (arcane plus pyro)
Shaman (elemental)
Druid (resto)

In my opinion, drop one mage and replace with a shaman. Why?
Totems - they're amazing - just totem of wrath itself is a reason not to mention how good tremor and grounding are for a lot of boss fights, let alone PVP if you dabble in that. Resistance totems are also nuts.
Backup healer in a pinch - chain heal is awesome to spam while spamming aoes, as well as giving that little bit extra on bosses/aoe mobs
Heroism/Bloodlust is nuts - period

You will find very VERY few instances where you really needed that extra one sheep (I had maybe 5 or 6 pulls in all of the TBC dungeons where I had wished I had another sheep - and heck now shamans have hex at 80), and TONS of instances where you'll love the tremor/wrath/resistance/grounding totems/bloodlust/heroism. The only reason I was able to do all of Heroic Slave Pens when I first started heroics was because I had poison resistance totem on quag.

The only real argument I can see for 3 mages is the extra aoe power, but I feel that the shaman benefits far outweigh that.

thx. But 4 different Classes are to much for me i think. So i thought 3 is okay. The Totems are very good right..but after so much time..i think i will try it out withoutt totems.. at the moment i dont like totems anymore ;)

The Totems are very good right..but after so much time..i think i will try it out withoutt totems.. at the moment i dont like totems anymore ;)I know how you feel - I'm sooo tired of plonking down four totems before every damn pull (I miss the TotemStomper days). If you're used to playing with 4 shaman, you'll miss having at least one in there. Some of the things we take for granted suddenly becomes a lot harder.

Without poison/disease cleanse totems, you miss the ability to cure your whole party instantly with just one totem drop. For some heroic bosses you need to cure asap, which your pally can take care of, but it's another thing you have to pay attention to, instead of just hitting a key and forgetting about it, you need to work the cleanse into your tanking rotation, be in range and be more aware.

Heroism is very nice for dps-race bosses, especially while you may be a bit undergeared, as is the boost ToW gives.

Tremor totems make some fights a LOT easier as a multiboxer (fearbomb trash mobs in pinnacle, Dred in Drak'theron etc.).

I think you'll find the lack of shaman harder to control than the 4 classes, but in the end, everything is doable - certainly also paladin, priest and three mages :-)
