Then again. Unless they limited it in some way (No faction changes, obviously) we could be seeing Blood elf druids. (Eeeewww).

Gnome druids, on the other hand...

They said they would never allow race changes for purposes that you mentioned like gnome druid

but also they said they would never allow pve -> pvp realm transfers

so there is always hope!!

pve to pvp is one thing. they wouldnt ever change it to where a race can have a class it normally wouldnt. that would completely contradict the entire story of the game.

I love how blizzard has been on the works updating the game and keep updating. I hope they open pre-tbc / TBC / WOTLK realms too

Just fixing this up for you but I believe they said 'there are no plans to allow pve -> pvp transfers at this time'

Your point still stands though :)

not really...if by some chance they do allow race/class changes, they would have to make that coincide with each other (gnomes cant be druids, sorry). if youre unhappy about your choice of race/class, man up and roll a new damn character.

I would be willing to bet this is related to or the reason why you can longer put extended ASCII characters in your name.

so there is always hope!! :thumbsup:Yeah, but their reasoning on the PvE -> PvP transfers was that enough people hit level cap that the ensuing gankage wold be kept to a minimum.

PVE to PVP started about 3 months ago. I was hoping for race change. ;(

This is fantastic news for multi-boxers! I know I've read that some folks made 1 toon that didn't quite match the rest by mistake (some tiny little detail that drove them nuts). People have even deleted and re-rolled that 5th toon to make it match. No reason for that now, just go in there and pay $15. (I don't think it's worth $15, but I also don't think it's worth re-leveling to 70, now 80 - but some people might).

My oh my, SQL queries are getting very expensive :(They've said before, the cost association is there so people wouldn't abuse the service and change their toon everyday. Same with paid name changes and server transfers. and of course they're doing it for the money.

Let me go ahead and change my female toons over to male...

Let's see, I can make my pally, Rebeckah, into a male.
And then make my mage, Kaitlyne, over to a male.
Then my hunter, Mackenze, over to a male.
Can't forget my warlock, Melaney, should be a male.
Oh and my shaman, Brooklyne, just has to be male.
Last but not least my priest, Madalyne, would be exceptional as a male.

Yeah, so name changes aren't in my future for these characters so they sure as heck aren't going to be getting the sex change operation.

Is SQL really the backend for their WoW servers?

Warning! Don't change just one of your characters sex. For example when running 5 x shaman I had one female. I hated that character, always got stuck on things the taller males would pass over and she would dismount in water due to height as well. Not to mention the idiots on the internet trying to hit on her, I should change my guild name to <I'm a DUDE, quit hitting on her>

Same with paid name changes and server transfers. and of course they're doing it for the money. If they don't want people doing it too often then they'd just put a cooldown on it. This is purely a cynical money making ploy.

Yes I know they're a business out to make money, and I know no-one is compelled to use this new service, but it just galls me that they charge rip-off prices for something that's completely automated and done in an instant. It's hardly like they're strapped for income from subscriptions.

It amazes me that they sell the Blizzard authenticators for such a reasonable price, each one a tangible unique object, and then charge three times more for a couple of database queries.

Sorry for the QQ, I try to avoid doing it most of the time, but I just get annoyed by rip-offs.

Is SQL really the backend for their WoW servers?SQL is a database language, not a database. So no, SQL isn't the backend for their WoW servers.

Authenticators save Blizz money, by not spending the time to recover hacked accounts. This was an investment in their own network security, it was not for our convenience.

I will be going through gender reassignment soon.

If you mean MS SQL Sever, I guessing no for their game engines based on the job postings on their main site.

They may use it for their online services since they require .NET skills.
