I recently got one of my 5 accounts "closed." I tried to create one of the accounts with a proxy, while the rest were on the same IP. Would that be a fair banish?
Here's the email I received.

***Notice of Account Closure***

Hello,

This is a notification regarding the World of Warcraft account xxxxxxxxx. Access to this account has been permanently disabled for exploitation of World of Warcraft through associated accounts which have been closed for intended exploitation. While we try to be as lenient as possible in our assessments of the results of exploitation investigations, reoccurring trends in exploitative endeavors on your accounts have ultimately lead to their closure. The recurring subscription on the account has been disabled to prevent further charges.

www.worldofwarcraft.com ('http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/') I do recall there is a limit as to how many accounts you can make with one IP, however I have a static IP, so the smart thing to do was go proxy, unless you all did it a different way.

Anyway, am I fxcked?

I have not had any problem with running up to 6 accounts on one IP address. I know some folks had issued when creating new accounts but I am not sure about playing.

That's the only thing I can think of I have done "wrong" or loop holing the system, besides having character names that are very identical... But yes, they were newly created accounts. I'm getting really pissed when I read the part where it may take DAYS to respond.

I assume you mean trial accounts?

Lots of times for whatever reason, trial accounts get tagged real fast for what blizz seems to think are "questionable" actions and dont seem to get the same review as a "Real" account. I know there have been at least 5 threads in the past year of trial accounts getting banned accidentally, in fact, there was one guy who got the same trial account banned twice.

Just send in the email, and explain what happened.

However, if your talking about NORMAL, nontrial accounts... then I ahve no idea why you would need the proxy. I play 5 accounts on one ip, and my brother plays 1 on the same Ip. Thats 6 accounts one ip no issues. However, when I made trials a while back, I did have to unplug replug the router for a new ip to create a trial with...so I just assume thats what your talking about.

there is no limit to the number of accounts a single person or IP address an have.

there is no limit to the number of accounts a single person or IP address an have.

But there is an automated system that prevents a user from creating too many trial accounts from the same IP address in a short period of time (it's an anti-spammer measure)

In any case, you've done nothing technically WRONG since you can have as many trials as you want, BUT you can see why you were flagged as being suspicious, no?

Why is he creating so many accounts in such little time? Automated system: Must be a spammer! Banstick!
Why is he hiding his IP via a proxy? Automated system: Must be a spammer! Banstick!

If you call the Billing Department, they can help you set up any additional trial accounts once you've been "locked out". Or you could wait for a response from the always-queued-up Account Administration.

Did you buy gold sell gold, or rent an account out?

Sorry but thats the email they send for dealing with gold sellers. Ive played for a longggggggg time, and ive only seen a few "accidents" happen.

Could ask the guys on many other sites what that email means.

Ive created *TONS* of trial accounts, regular accounts... I think at one point I had about 15 or so going, so its not because you tried to create to many. I had my IP locked many times for the "To many trials" error.

I had my IP locked many times for the "To many trials" error. The account was made very recently, didn't buy gold, trade accounts etc. The only reason why they would categorize this with account trading would be creating the account with an IP in a different country thousands of miles away. And then in an instant is logged in the US. That's about... it.

Wow Minot? I'm sorry.Sorry for what? Housing the most nuclear weapons in the entire DOD? Having a mission essential job where say I fuck up equals the lives of a million? Maybe you should be sorry, for ever making that ignorant post.

One of my accounts is my brothers, who he bought off of someone back in college when wow came out (and people didn't even really know it was a bad thing back then).

My brother stopped playing then I moved to Japan, and I wanted to play again so I started my brothers account up again.

Since then I had stopped, and my brother had started playing in the states again.

Now I've started playing again, in Japan, whenever he doesn't play. So thats alot of IP hopping.... so far there hasn't been any problems but I fear my luck will end.

"I play with nukes, you should be sorry for offending me!"

I'm having trouble thinking what made you think that was a sensible thing to post, saving that you're drunk or that you're actually in your early teens.

The highlighted statement is a logical fallacy. The account cannot be both "yours" and "your brother's". See below:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html

5. Establishing an Account.
Prior to (or in lieu of) creating a user account on the Service (a "WoW Account"), or using an existing WoW Account, you may be required to establish a separate account (a "Blizzard Account") on Blizzard’s centralized account system. When creating these accounts, you may be required to provide Blizzard with certain personal information, financial information and an unused Authentication Key provided to you by Blizzard. You agree that you will supply accurate information to Blizzard when requested, and that you will update that information promptly after it changes.

6. Username and Password.
During the registration process, you may be required to select a unique username and a password (collectively referred to hereunder as "Login Information"). You may not share the Account or the Login Information with anyone other than as expressly set forth herein.

7. No Ownership Rights in Account.
NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY HEREIN, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOU SHALL HAVE NO OWNERSHIP OR OTHER PROPERTY INTEREST IN THE ACCOUNT, AND YOU FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT ALL RIGHTS IN AND TO THE ACCOUNT ARE AND SHALL FOREVER BE OWNED BY AND INURE TO THE BENEFIT OF BLIZZARD.

8. Account Suspension/Deletion.
BLIZZARD MAY SUSPEND, TERMINATE, MODIFY, OR DELETE ACCOUNTS AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON OR FOR NO REASON, WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU. For purposes of explanation and not limitation, most account suspensions, terminations and/or deletions are the result of violations of this Terms of Use or the EULA.

*points to rules ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=14540')*

The 'No Tolerance Policy'
If you (the forum user) break a rule where the No Tolerance Policy is in effect, you will be most certainly Permanently BANNED from the forum (IP Bans may also applicable)
Game Specific Forum Rules
If it is against the ToS of the game you are discussing it is against dual-boxing.com’s community guidelines to discuss ways of breaking said ToS. We are COMMITTED to keeping our hobby 100% compliant with the ToS of any game we play.

Consider this a warning because I am EXTREMELY nice.

Though, this is against my better judgement. If you don't respect the "I accept" you click every time there's a patch and this EULA/ToU comes up... what're the chances you're going to respect our community rules, hmm?

Maybe you should of made sense of the post I replied to?

Minot? I'm sorry. If you don't understand now, you won't. Ever.

Oh, the post you replied to was clear enough. But your response is at best going to make us not take you seriously, and if that really is your job...well, this is a public forum. It's trivial for your superiors to examine what you've been up to online come time to evaluate for promotions or security clearances, and increasingly likely these days. Good job?

Even if you are just a kid trying to talk big...it's self defeating and somewhat crass to make oblique threats about nukes. O_o

Ok, do I really need to quote the community rules AGAIN?

I wouldn't normally lock this thread over a first offense, but between account sharing and being generally snarky to one another I really see no additional valuable material in here.
