Finally got the Expansion... (Question)

ok, here is my question and "Yes" I have looked around and have also searched the board and google... but something still stumps me beyond anything else. There are a lot of threads about DK -Vs- Pallies out there and the both have thier ups and downs in each catagories but with the Dks, what's the over all and most used class when it comes to tanking with the DK?

I really like the pallies but I gave the dk a run and it's cool when your not on the other end of the sword when it comes down to it but I would mostly like to use him as a all-rounded tank, none of this one on one tanking.

I am looking at using him for any instances, Heroics ect and would like to actually stand a chance but I have read that the dks can't handle melee hits like they can with caster, is there away to change that or make it lean more in the Dks favor?

Just because someone is BETTER at tanking one thing doesn't make them BAD at tanking another.

You CAN single-target tank something with a pally. In fact, even in BC some guilds (albeit very few) utilized a pally MT. They're trying to even the playing field with wrath, and the blues have stated that they don't want things so that you HAVE to bring a certain class in order to be effective -- they want you to bring good players to fill ROLES, not cruddy players because you need the CLASS.

I don't know of too many people running DK tanks, but then again it's a brand new class and starting at 55 isn't feasable for everyone -- they might be leveling their team up to 80 first, and then leveling up a DK later.

If you want a DK as your "main", design your group around your DK. Who buffs DKs? Who has synergy with DKs? What classes do you enjoy? What sort of goals do you have (i.e. what classes are better for PvE? What classes for PvP?)... "Best" for one person is not always "best" for another -- it really depends and half the fun is in the theorycraft anyway :)

That is just what I read lol but I just wanted to make sure from members that have either run or is currently playing a dk in the game. I just got mine and just wanted some opinions on them before I get to far into the class.

I'm running DK as my main, I will be tanking in raids once everyone's at 80. RIght now though, I'm running him with a group of 4 shamans, and it works really well. The class is definitely boxable as a tank, I highly recomend going deep Unholy if you are going to tank a box group with your DK, secondary talents being in Frost. I've been toying with doing a weird hybrid spec of Unholy/Frost, but just haven't had the time to play with it yet. Vyn's right though, all the tanks are capable now. So go with what feels right.
