View Full Version : What loot setting allows you to not miss BoP recipes for say JC'ing if your main isn't a JC'er?

Is it possible that I've been missing any BoP recipes for various team members by having FFA set as my loot of choice?
Please advise.

So essentially I'm safe if I stay on my main and as a group as FFA? someone suggested that I use master loot and I became confused.
I didn't realize they put a warning system in place to ensure that you get the proper drop. Nice to know.

The indication I've seen for these sorts of things is that the mob's body doesn't disappear on their normal timer, which means there is a blue or higher to be picked up. Of course, with BoP recipes you should be able to still see them, you just can't loot them without a proper profession.

Like Fur said, with FFA your main will indeed see the recipes as red and unlootable. However, any character without the proper profession will only be able to see the recipe the first time the body is looted. After that first time only the character that can use the recipe will be able to loot the body (if the recipe is the only item left). So you do need to pay attention to that initial loot window.

I normally run with group loot and then "pass on loot" on all the slaves - works really great and it's fine if you're running with a person, that's not you :-) That way you split the grays in two stacks.

Also allows alts to see quest items and BoP only them type items as glittery. unless your alt windows are microscopic, it is easy to see with a quick glance if they have loot.

I don't understand why people always ask this or have trouble with this...
I simply set my loot type to free for all (using multiboxer v2 automatically when the party is created) and my looting works fine. Main sees everything except alt quest drops. If BoP items drop it automatically asks if I'm sure I want to loot - if I want one of my clones to have items, I just cancel the pickup for those items on my main, then loot the corpse with my alt. With quest drops I just loot with my main then glance at my alt(s) screens to see if the corpse is still sparkly.
Not difficult and requires no additional setup....not sure why people are doing something in more complex ways than this...?

JC BOP recipes are no problem, I found on one my main (not a JC) and he couldn't loot it but he could see it, a quick alt-tab to my JC shaman and he picked it up no problem. This was in Zuldrak on a random beast mob. Also I've found cooking recipes in Howling Fjord no problem (cupcakes and a few others).
The only things I've found that DONT show up on your main are (1) the daily JC quest item (and probably any other daily profession quest items), (2) extra frostweave cloth for tailors.
I have heard there is also a jewelcrafter necklace thingie that can drop for a extra free JC token, no idea if it only is viewable on JC or if the master can see it when loot is on FFA.
i got the necklace once. You do not need to be JC to loot/see the necklace. It's a green item called Damaged Necklace ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=43299')
