My elemental shaman team -- no, wait, I'm getting to the melee part! -- likes conserving mana by foregoing that third lightning bolt salvo and beat the mob to death. At least 'til it flees ... but as often as not, the poor mob is so rattled by electrocution and staff-pummeling that it tries to flee *through the shammies, and emerges as a bloody pulp. It's almost worth hitting the hotkey for Mass Troll Dance, every time.
So yeah! I can be a melee boxer too! Right? Right?

I rolled 5 deathknights and specced Manly Man (0/0/0) for the starter area. I'm still deciding if I want to go 5 unholy or 1 frost, some unholy and some blood or 5 blood. :S
Besides that I have a rogue/warrior on hold at 60. Everything else shoots fireballs, starfires, smites, mindflay, lightning bolts or has minions doing their dirty work.

semi-high-five. Reallly wanted to get my rogues to 70 before expansion but stopped playing. I managed to get three to 58 but the other two are stuck around 52 and without raf its painful to level :/ like so painful I'm not going to bother lol

5 ret pallies. Awesome for general PvP, just OK for instances cause they're not AoE friendly

My shammies are melee/resto. I had no problems with melee. Ijust let my alts hit first, and the mob stands on top of my main and everyone is in range.
My DKs are too much fun. Icy touch is ranged, so no problems there. My "Come over here" is too much fun, I have to stop using it for no reason (come here critter). The one problem I never had before is movement. I move forward after I pull and the mobs stop just on top of my alts instead of my main. Then I turn my main around and my alts turn, so only about 3 of us hitting the mob. /cry I just need to control myself and not move. My hunters are too easy, since they can shoot and move all the time. I wish I had the hit reach of a tauren, that would be too fun.
Main thing, do pulling with your alts, so the mob is in range of everyone. Good luck and /highfive.

Oh man, imagine the QQ of people an arena team that gets their members sequentially offed by a ninja-assassin squad. First guy, probably the healer, gets 5 knifes in the back, Vanish, sprint off, get behind and ambush anyone trying to rez. Blow preparation, vanish again. You're now up 5 to 2-3. Wait on shadowstep, shank another guy. Brute Force your way over the last guy or two.
Sounds great until they all put their back to the wall or something.

OMG that stuff is SO annoying.
A solo boxer was using that crap and I reported him for spamming because he'd button mash his death grip button and I couldn't read anything on my screen.

Multi boxing melee classes would be hard but i'm sure it can be done.. Here are the specs i would go with the melee classes:
Deathknight - Unholy, the pets can stun the target and if you keybind the stun and set it on round robbin you could probably stunlock a target just with the pets, you could also kill multiple targets by putting the pets on one target and killing the other target with your guys. Also could set deathgrip on round robbin to pull back casters, deathknights are probably the best melee classes to box :O
Warrior - MS spec, 2x MS = 0% healing xD
Druid - Feral, It might be good just to stack bleed effects lol :O
Rogue - I would go mutilate and set stuns as round robbin
Overall, multi boxing mele classes is good in theory

Hey Kromtor Ive thought of trying that... how well does divine storm keep you guys healed?
5 ret pallies. Awesome for general PvP, just OK for instances cause they're not AoE friendly
I've got two melee teams:
5 Ret Pallies - Awesome for PVE and Leveling :D
5 Unholy Dk's - Probably a PVP/Farming team - Haven't spent enough time with them to figure out their biggest strengths yet.

How do you guys deal with follow breaking? Do you have /follow on every attack macro?
Bigfish
12-04-2008, 03:02 PM
I have /follow charname at the begining of my DPS macros for my melee. It pretty much creates a situation of your characters moving in to melee range if they're not, and if they are, follow keeps breaking, but who cares, they're whacking what they're supposed to anwyay.
I follow manually after every fight. This is simply because I don't always want them following automatically after combat (such as when my main is going to go pull something back to the group in an instance with lots of patrols). Once you get used to hitting your follow button after every fight while looting, it's automatic and you don't have to worry about it.

I leveled my shammies to 52 as enhancement/melee. After that, I will never level a melee group for PVP. For PVE only, yes.

Do the damaging effects of consecration stack, like say you have 5 Paladins, and all of them cast consecration. Will all 5 of the consecration spells do damage or only one?
Bigfish
12-06-2008, 05:44 PM
Pretty sure they stack.

Thanks Bigfish :)
It stacks. While attacking a group of mobs, many times by the time the one I'm focusing on is dead the rest are close from concecrate stacks.

Lol ill never make it to 80.. decided to switch my team again. Switching out one paladin for a fury warrior. In order to use free RAF levels for the warrior i have to switch my DK to another account so Im really starting two new characters.

Feral druid/3 blood spec dk's
pure ownage, tho i'd love to rock an unholy spec, but i'm so used to blood and its passive healing that i cant really bring myself to switch. With rune tap(with glyph) vampiric blood(with glyph) and deathstrike (with glyph) you get SOOOO much passive healing, every 30 seconds to 2 minutes you're healing for 30 to 70 percent of your health... on top of the 4% every so often from improved leader of the pack from the druid. use the druid to tank, dk's to dps, add a shaman in later for totems and chainheals to round it off and you've got a decent group.... i wont go back to my caster group as long as this still works for me tho hehe cant wait for arena, i think i'll be 3's ing my druid and 2 dks or my shaman buddy will heal for me and i'll dps with the 2 dks hehe
in general melee boxing is MUCH more difficult because of positioning, but here's some tips i've come up with to help out.
unbind on your main your movement keys(w,a,s,d,x..i use x for backup and s for tabtargeting) on your alts bind SHIFT -W and shift - x to forward and back.... this will let you tank with your main... with a quick shift w or x you can move your alts into melee range, and back them up.... this allows for your main to stay put and your alts to move up and down as needed to reach the mob.... i tried binding follow into my attacks, but as soon as the mobs move alittle bit you're screwed... try binding follow command to your F key, thus if you need to force the clones to face a certain direction or come closer you can hit the f key(i also have this as my assist leader key) so /follow leader /assist leader and they do their thing.
i thought maybe about trying to macro shift q,w,e to my 3 alts forward keys, so that i can chose to move each one (one with q, one with w, one with e) if i need further adjustment.... only problem with that is that it cuts out your close-finger keybinds for other commands hehe.... perhaps getting a little numpad on a usb cord and using that to move the alts might help too....
all in all i love melee boxing ... especially with dk's :)

How do you guys deal with follow breaking? Do you have /follow on every attack macro?
I have a 'Tackle' macro which goes something like this (using focus based macros and typing from memory):
/follow focus
/assist focus
It's on my T key so I just hit that to turn the followers.
The technique to using this is to run THROUGH the mob and spin that pulls all your followers into melee range, if the mob moves circle round it on your leader and press T again to Turn your followers and Tackle the Target - see, there's a mnemonic as well!
Forgot to say: 5 paladin group (prot main, 2xret, 2xshockadin - pre patch3), also mixed melee and caster group with warrior, rogue, pally
I think that 3 pallies + 2 others will be best in future as there are only 3 judgments you can stack now, I used to have each pally use a different judgment pre 3 so 5 was really useful, especially with 5 different auras and 5 different blessings - gives you a pile of buffs on each char that makes up for poor quality gear quite nicely - I was RAFing them up

I run 3 DKs all Frost atm. Thinking about switching up, I really like unholy but right now I can Icy Touch, Howling Blast, and if the mob isn't dead from that, I just Blood Strike.
