I'm sure many of you have had to deal with some form of harassment or another from people in game for multiboxing. I just thought this little chat was funny enough to post... I was just turning in some quests when up rides this 66 DK that i'd seen around (hadnt talked to) a few other times today and then for no apparent reason this ensues...

And this is a good reason why you don't engage with these people because (as far as I'm aware) calling someone a fucking e-queer in /s is just as likely to lead to you getting a ban as him, should anyone in that area object. Or of course, he can just report you in kind if he thinks you've done it to him anyway.
Don't bother arguing with these people - you can't win, you're not going to change their mind. The minute you respond - in their eyes - they win. End of. They get a reaction off you and that's just what they want.
On the other hand, not responding WILL drive them into a fit of nerd rage behind their computer - you win.

I didn't even get the chance to respond or not respond though as I didn't even know he was making fun of me until i asked what that meant. I just love that you're a nerd for leveling 3 different classes in the same time it takes to level one.

Why even bother with taking screen shots from idiots like this? Stop spending your time with print screen > crop in fav app > host > link. I see 100 of these types outside of multi boxing. Just /ignore and have your fun.

It usually leads them to use more profane language, and after that, you report them :D
I wish I ran into more people like that, but I'm on a roleplay server, so it's pretty rare :/

Yeah, i was just really surprised. First time someone ever did that and for literally no reason, they werent even synchronized / totally different classes.

That is almost guaranteed a 15-18 year old kid in his parents house.
My decision to multibox came from NOT having much spare time, not enough time to LFG, and then LFG again because some kid like this had to leave because his mom was yelling at him. If it cost a few more dollars to avoid idiots, why not, I figure. (not all single boxers are idiots)

I get threats about being reported as often as I get cheers from people. Both is fun.
I also got the "Do you sell your accounts afterwards?" a few times.

I even got threats being reported if I didnt give him the cheat that would let me "grant level" from 1-60.
When I multibox, they call me multibotting and they mean it

I always just agree with them, and when they curse, I report them. Someone called me a "fucking lowlife botter" in Nagrand, I whispered him that I just reported him x5 for language and his name (Chicknchit or something). He logged shortly after, and doing a /who anytime of day I don't get that name, so he probably had to change it. That's usually about the extent of my interaction with harrassers.
lol, 'neckbeard'. That's a good one.

Report and ignore.... carry on. One of the biggest problems with WoW is that there are way too many retards playing.

Sad to say =p but you took the bait and ran like a trophy fish lol.
I quickly ignore the retards, and I will speak with the people that make sense.
gotta watch what you say in /say though, quick way to get about 24-72hours off.

Back when i was three boxing i made 3 night elf hunters called Farmerbill/Farmermike and Farmerdave.
Once i got to westfall i was getting a tell every 2-3 minutes from people asking me how to make a farmer.

I guess I'm lucky, I don't get this kind of abuse. All I can say is "wow".
Also, anyone that says "go get laid" probably never has. Anyone who has an active sex life realizes how very little it matters - it only matters if you're not getting any. :) But then, after seeing the Blizzcon pics and the lines of people waiting to buy Wrath...yeah, lots of virgins play the game.
I love the constant focus on the money - I make more in two hours than 5 copies a month would cost, and I drop more on iTunes most months. I also have an iPhone, which is more - and I play WoW more than I use my phone! Some of us have this thing called "discretionary income" (extra cash), and I always love how easy it is for other people to spend it for you.
Also, the next ban wave will prove a few things - a LOT of people have more than one account, they just don't play them together, and masses of them will lose one or both from AFKing or botting or win-trading. (Season 5 is coming, I expect a ban wave before it starts - right now, next weekend is the perfect time), and more will lose accounts from buying gold - I'll bet more players spend *more* money buying gold than MBers do.
This guy has it all, tho - ignorance, lies to threaten another player (it's always "it's not legal", or "you're all getting banned soon", yada yada yada), envy (could he be MORE envious of having a good computer? He must be forced to play on his parent's BestBuy special), and overall air of entitled asshole.
I would simply have reported and ignored them at the very first "fucking".

Do you have to make a whole ticket to report someone or is there a shorter way? I've never reported anyone no matter what they say. Also can you get banned for lying like saying I know the GM irl and he made me some extra toons etc?

I'd say if you are going to report them..or have already reported them.. then you really don't want to use profanity..
Just ignore them and move on.

i find the best way is to copy them exactly but.. use all my chars. in unison. that really winds them up and is pure funny. also its not classed as spam as your only typing it once on each char.
people who say things like WTF? or how i do that ect i just plain ignore. and those who ask properly i talk to properly. i think the worst 1 is people going "invite me" knowing full well you have 5 in your group as it is.
He must be forced to play on his parent's BestBuy specialHEY!! I play on 3x best buy specials. Bought them for $150 each, threw $40 in memory in each, and a $150 video card in each. They work great for me.

I don't care for people sending me the "invite me" with no other communications... but in there defense, turn around and look at your group.
Using /follow and having them stacked on top of each other does make it hard to count. :P

It is much more fun to publicly flame them on the realm forums. Especially when you know a lot of people on your server that will stick up for you being legit.
... Not that I'd ever actually do that.....

LOL
While I want annoying people to go DIAF, I dont really like reporting for cursing.. unless theyre going all out crazy with racial slurs or something, Id rather people just exercised their option to use the profanity filter and /ignore and move on.
Thats obvioulsy just my opinion.

I'd been harassed before even single boxing. These people are in a different place in life than any of us. I try to ignore them. It does help that I'm on PVE and that my moonkin eats the other followers when I'm on foot. "Invite" is my most common annoyance. But if I do get a bad /say, I always ignore it. Always!
Neckbeard and Wolfshirt are internet slang for a nerdy social outcast.
A Neckbeard is actually just what it sounds like it should be, the hair you get on your neck and fail to shave because you are a social reject who never leaves the basement .Wolfshirt is a reference to those full print button down un-tucked shirts you see on teenagers in the mall. Often from thier favorite anime.
I have to say I've never seen a community as mischaracterized as multiboxers. For the most part I think in a line up it would be far easier to pick out single boxers as "neckbeards" than the vast majority of multiboxers. Who I would guess tend to be professionals and fairly well adjusted socially.
Not curious really, given that we are a fairly small unique subset of the wow population.

I multibox because it's more challenging, and it also allows me to level and do group quests without having to bother my friends or skip stuff cuz I can't find a group.
As a software engineer and general computer geek in my daily life, I already had the computers, I enjoyed writing my own Addon, and it's not like the $45/ month for 3 accts is going to break the bank (I spend more than that on coffee)
Also, my guild is mostly made up of R/L friends who play casually, and thus are almost all DPSers... I have that "carebear" thing going and enjoy being able to Tank/Heal for them

I'm sure all boxers get crap from time to time. Maybe more often than not. However, I make sure not to say something to them that could get me reported and actioned such as cursing at them.
Try this. Next time someone does this after each time they say something just /lol /rofl /yawn but don't actually say anything. That would probably make them irratated and maybe they would just leave you alone. or /ignore works great.
