I 5box shamans. My monitor setup is the main on 1 and the 4 others split into 25% quadrants on 2nd monitor.

My main is a skinner/herbalist. My 2nd char (upper left quad) is my miner/tailor. I had a lot of problems missing mining nodes because the little gold dot was so small that I would miss them.

I found an addon today called BigMiniMap; http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=4095#info

I found that I could blow the minimap map up by close to 3x on the secondary window and easily see when I got near a mining node while keeping the main window focused on herbing nodes.

I hope this helps someone else who may have been looking for something like this and if it's been posted before, my apologies.

after a brief look through the code

/script MinimapCluster:SetScale(1.0);

/script MinimapCluster:SetScale(2.0);
seems to be a quick ugly alternative

does that actually make the map itself bigger or just the gold dots?

Just tried it out and it indeed makes the map bigger. Very nice discovery I might add.

Fur....Mappy might be a better alternative. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to try it out this evening.

Do these addons also scale the size of the node icon on the minimap? the yellow goldish dot? I found that the only way for me to scale that is to scale the size of my entire UI and its rather bleh to have a huge UI

Check out Chinchilla ('http://www.wowace.com/projects/chinchilla/'). It has several dot textures, and I believe one of them is pretty big.

I use Carbonite, mainly as a quest helper and map/gatherer replacement, but it also replaces the mini-map with a map that you can resize simply by dragging the borders.

Not as lightweight as the other solutions above if all you want is a bigger mini-map, but if you want its other features I'd highly recommend it.

I recently switched over to Mappy per Fursphere's post a few threads up. Nice thing about it is, that it is easily stretched to a new size and you can tell the nodes to "blink" when you're near one.

wow ace is done, ill take a look at other addon sites after i get back home.

the problem with carbonite is that it is a huge memory hog. It is extremly handy but quest helper does pretty much the same thing for a little less memory.
I use quest helper for multiboxing and carbonite for single. theyre both super.

note to self: Check out chinchilla and mappy when back home. :end note

I find that mappy doesnt increase the node icon size, you can make it flash however, but I would prefer the larger node icon size

Will keep looking
