View Full Version : BOP recipes in Wrath

I know that in BC a BOP recipe would show up as a lootable item on my main, so I never missed any. (My main gets the big screen, the 4 alts share 2 smaller monitors - hard to spot the blinking corpse)
So far in wrath I've only found cooking recipes with my main, but no enchanting/tailoring/etc. ones. Quite by accident I did find a blue BOP tailoring book teaching the "find more cloth" skill with one of my toons that hadn't bought that skill. It did not show up when the main looted (in BC they showed up red and unlootable I think).
I also see that there are a lot of things taught by the trainers now - a seemingly higher percentage than BC.
So, am I missing out on recipe loot, or do the BOP recipes simply not exist at this level (up to 72, just finished all the quests in the Howling Fjord - collection, collection, collection... sigh)

Doesn't seem you're missing anything. Once you hit 75 / starting fighting level 75 mobs watch for the First Aid book that teaches you heavy frostweave bandages. It is bop random drop off any 75+ mob. I haven't seen any other BoP recipes drop out in the world except for some JC recipes drop for my main that is a JC.

I was told that most cooking recipes drop off mobs ( bop) I got my hunters cooking to 400 and there were no more on the trainer 8(

wotlk kinda sucks imo for multibox looting.
Cooking recipes drop but are viewable by everyone, no problem.
If any char is a tailor, extra frostweave can drop (once they train in it), only the tailor can loot it. In instances, you can get x5-x7 extra frostweave, so its definitely worth rechecking with tailors.
I've heard there is something called a fractured necklace or something that can drop for extra JC tokens, but I think only JCs can see it :(
There are a few quest-start drops I've seen, its easy to miss so make sure you are checking everything you loot on your master.
Beyond that I don't think there are that many BOP recipes for any profession, most are now instead bought for various items by the crafter (dream shards for enchanters, artic fur for LWers, daily tokens for JCers, etc).

I'm probably answering my own question...but, does this mean that if say my 4th shaman is a JC and a BoP recipe drops for her that if she's not the "main" looting that she won't even see that the recipe has dropped?

Well, I did some looking and it appears that it is currently not an issue as there are no BoP recipes that drop in WotLK.
A Guide to Northern Cloth Scavenging ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=43876')
This is the book I mentioned earlier that is BoP, and is NOT visible to non-tailors. And it is the reason I worry about missing BoP items I don't know about or that are added later...
