[WoW] 1 Paladin 4 Shamans or 5 Shamans?

Hey Guys,

I dinged this morning with my 5 shamans to 80. I tried 2 heroics and both failed hard. I did Utgarde Pinacle or something and Dark Tharon.
I still have my level protadin on 70.

Should i level him to 80 or stay with 5 shamans?

I can get a boss from 400k hp to 180k or so, but then my earth elementals are dead/gone and the boss is oneshotting me.

And now the other guy on the front page already did around 10+ heroics and stuff with 4 shamans 1 paladin. So what should i do?

A prot pally can be configured to be incredibly useful and still only use 2 buttons. I think for all PvE multiboxing purposes having a pally tank around in "plug-and-play" format is super useful.

Eventually 5 shams with enough gear will do heroics easily but, a meat shield will ease the pain.

With enough practice and eventually gear you'd be suprised with what you can pull off. Thing I've learned about MB'ing is, it looks easy when you're watching a video of someone whooping instances butt's. But no one ever makes a video of themselves wiping 40 times prior to them making said video.

When it comes to pve i will never regret that i went 4 shamans and with a paladin, but ofc its not the same fun in bgs and for the arena i only need 4 anyway.

Sadly I have come to find the same as you did... 5 Shamans just dont do it anymore once you dinged 80 with them. Anyways your are not supposed to just walk into heroics with quest-rewards and wipe the floor there. You seriously need to have a "meatshield" in place with the last patch. The issue is that Eart Elementals and Fire Elementals didnt get a new Rank since 70 and atm they scale just horribly. I expect some changes to these spells in upcoming patches which then hopefully make it possible again to clear heroics with just shamans... but for the time being you should seriously consider getting a tank. I heard Death Knights seem to be useful.. looks like im gonna try leveling one.
The thing is I havent really tried intensively cleaning non-heroic instances so far (except Statholme, where the 1st boss already gave me a headache) but the first boss in Utgarde Pinnacle (on heroic) on-hit my Shaman!!!!!!!! the other day and I dont see that changing with "high-level" reputation epics from the different factions. Only thing to do I think, get your healing macros in place and level up a Tank.
