View Full Version : my first three heroics, and some more
Eventually I'll rename this to northrend dungeon hero, but I felt like posting now
adding kill shots as they appear

edit: dodging spikes is apparently overrated and healing through them works better

eventually random bosses won't give you the same thing 4 days in a row

but random drops will still make you hate the game
and then I was ~3 minutes short of reaching the bonus boss

Very nice job man1
Ill be joining You as soon as my team hits 80 :/
My main is 80 and we've been busy clearning all the raiding content(onto malygos now), rest i sstuck on 78 for past 5 days :P
I would think that spider 5 mans would be pretty easy to clear too.

Great job man. This is really good to hear!
Good grief! It's only been a week and boxers are clearing heroics?
Are you that good or is WotLK that gimp?

HeHe elo, considering that some of the hardest of the heroic PvE content (Satharion w/ 3 adds up by Nihilum-SKGaming) has now been cleared (until 3.1) I'd say WoTLK is a bit gimp relative to TBC when it was released. It looks like they went more towards starting WoTLK how TBC was post heroic nerfs. Not a bad idea for getting class balance right while people level and gear up easily before the next content patch hits. This way the harder content won't find certain classes pigeon holed into certain specs and other classes find themselves completely obsolete.
This may be optimistic -- it might just be that WoTLK is a downgrade in difficulty, with more of a focus on having more in game fun through other avenues. Considering most casuals didn't raid past Karazhan in TBC this might not be such a bad strategy for Blizz, but it would be really disappointing if they nerf end game content and still we see a small minority of players progressing past naxx ;(
Good grief! It's only been a week and boxers are clearing heroics?
Are you that good or is WotLK that gimp?Starting heroics in wotlk is just like starting heroics in tbc: it's exactly the same as a normal instance but stuff hits your tank really hard
the difference in wotlk is that bosses and sometimes trash drop actual upgrades from quests/normal instances, and every time I go into an instance my tank seems to get at least 1 upgrade, so the hardest part of heroics is quickly going away

You know seeing this is filling me with a wee bit of sadness.
My guild which consists of 3 multiboxers an the another looking to do 10 man content, all rerolled toons to raid with together. So with the RAF we all got our teams up to around 65 now, but its just amazing listening to all these people being able to do heroics right now and i'm 65! Ugh i still feel like such a noob, haven't even touched northrend. Nonetheless grats on your completion of the few heroics, just know i'm severely jealous.

Wow, respect ... Loads of it!
(I'll start with the first boss in Utgarde Keep -.- 8 wipes so far but I get more motivation per try .... Now going for more dmg and hp gear and another level)
Keep it going! Very nice 8)
I tried other heroics with less than incredible results
Spider instance 1(I lose track of names with apostrophes): first two bosses aren't very hard. I tried Anub'arak but could only make it to the second burrowing phase. Too many adds to pick up while strafing around spikes, but it should be doable when I learn2tank or find a way to exploit the gate(his spikes don't hit anyone on the pathway that leads to his platform, but for some reason he wants to run through the gate after unburrowing and despawn)
Spider instance 2: gate keeper boss isn't much harder than normal, but prince-something is much harder. His drain attack does 2k damage every 2 seconds and you can't heal the person he's draining and you have to do 40k damage to make him stop. He also has three balls instead of one
utgard pineapple: first boss is simple, and the adds that lead to the second boss aren't incredibly hard, but the second boss himself + his ranged dot does more damage than my group can heal easily heal through.
After that I'm considering caving in and making one of my shamans restoration.

isn't he kinda movement intensive?Only movement required is the tank. It's really healing intensive though :(. I sit my team between the pillars where you start, and tank him at the opposite side where he spawns, facing out. When he does his Dark Smash, run your tank through him so he doesn't get hit by it, then face him away again.
Took me quite a few tries before I realized that Dark Smash is avoidable -.-

Nice.....very nice indeed.
I am running the same setup Pally, 3 Shamans and a druid. I have all the DPS set for DPS builds but when I start to raid I am going to change someone over to healing. I had thought about the druid but I see you went with a resto sham ... I will have to look into the pros and cons.

You can't tell by looking at any of my pictures, but my druid can do around 400-500 dps more than my shamans while still giving the shamans earth and moon, plus with moonkin aura you can skip elemental oath and get something better. But then resto druids have a 41 point "press button, heal everyone in group" talent which has it's uses..

Very nice :-D
How do you handle the clones in the herald fight? I've been wrecking my brain on that one - is the only difference compared to normal that they have more hitpoints or do they hit harder as well? I beat it on normal by simple turning off DNP, press tab and use a dps char to run around and kill clones, but I guess they hit too hard to do that on heroic?

if someone dies during the clone fight you can ankh/soulstone and that character will be out of combat until the clones are killed
in other news, loken and the bronn defense event are proving absurdly hard

Earth and Moon is nice. Moonkin aura does not stack with Totem of Wrath though right? If so I can free up another air totem....
I need to find updated information on what stacks and does not stack between totem, and spells/talents.

Insanity in Ahn'kahet seems like it would pretty difficult on heroic. It was pretty darn difficult even doing it normally playing only my Druid. If you had 5 shaman you could probably pop your fire elemental and do the strat ss2 mentioned. They definitely have a LOT more hp on heroic than normal though.
I want to see a video of someone boxing the Occulus ;).

Unless the original distinctions changed, they do stack. One is a spell crit debuff and one is an all attacks crit debuff. However, it will not stack with Elemental Oath so be sure you don't spec for that. In looking at the list, I also see Heart of the Crusader (judgements increase crits taken) doesn't stack with Totem of Wrath so make sure you pally/shaman combos don't get both.

Sounds pretty much like exploiting to me ... :>

Sounds pretty much like exploiting to me ... :>It's probably somewhere in between the SH final encounter (not exploit) and the SV encounter (pillaring) - probably a grey area I'm guessing?
This is probably not the best place to discuss it BUT the fight is meant to be fought with each character and the parties clones and since you do avoid the clones from appearing for 4/5 characters which is most likely NOT intended and so I would say it is exploiting. At least that is what I understood from this "method".
Did you know that firemaw was supposed to be fought in line of sight of the raid while the entire raid wore fire resist gear? Do you know anyone that killed him this way, or did half your raid hide out of line of sight?
until it gets changed or a blizzard poster says something along the lines of "this is an exploit, you're suppose to be in line of sight of him" I'm going to stick with "oh well"
Well I didn't know that but I DO KNOW that exploiting will be handled in the manner of banning first, asking questions later (and we all know, blizzard wont ask questions at all) - whether they are temporary or permanent. Just wanted to add this point before anybody comes and QQ about the ban he might have gotten.

No way in hell anyone is going to get banned for that. There's no list from blizzard on the official way to fight a boss. As far as I see it, LOS is a SMART way to fight a boss, not nearly an exploit.
"banned for LOSing a boss when he does a special ability" - no way that will happen.

ss2 I was wondering if you could post what cast sequence you use for your druid. Been searching around and most the stuff I find seems to have non tested info ( the threads here ) or is coming from a solo player pov. I have a 2nd team that includes a balance druid.

[edit: just to be clear, if a GM told me not to do something in game, I wouldn't do it. But until then, it's fair game IMHO]
"This will be fixed in a patch, please refrain from doing it." is not equal to "this is an immediate, banable offense, without any warning". And this is after you put in a ticket that specifically asked about this (I'm assuming, I didn't see the ticket)
Honestly, the CSR team is so busy with tickets that I doubt they are watching people running instances - ever, unless they get some specific report on someone and are somehow magically quick enough to catch them in action.
I think you could still use this technique every day until, (and if), they patch it and would not have problems. The worst thing they would do is warn you not to do it again. And I think the odds of that are slim and none, and slim's out of town.
There are still tons of bosses that have "exploitable" issues (Gorefiend being pulled through the door, ZA adds despawned (fixed now actually), avoid the storm on first boss in SV, as an example) and I've yet to see anyone get banned for using them. And you've had entire guilds use them for months with not so much as a warning.
The only time I've ever heard of problems is when a GM tells you specifically, don't do this anymore, it's not working as intended, and you continue to do it.
Multiboxers are probably going to be some of the first people to find new and creative ways to fight bosses.

Ofcause you won't get banned, only if you keep doing it, and they detect you .. but it's not intended, so I would stop using it - not because there's a risk being banned, but just because of the fact that it's not intended. Actually I haven't even used it.
My idea was just to point out the incorrect in your thread, saying that it was a smart way to handle los.

You'll get different responses from different Game Masters. However I would say this is not exploiting. Nice work with the heroics.
