Heres the situation.

3 Mages..using a focus based setup.

2 of the mages look exactly alike, and the 3rd will also when we progress in Northrend. Names are also simular.

There is no true leader in this group, what I do is on one mage, I hit F2 and it sets that as the focus for all my mages, the other mage is F3, and the other mage is F4 (and Jamba makes them groupleader).
The problem is, when they all look similar...I often just mash f2-f4 till I see my current character become group leader which I know means that all my characters are focused on them... time and time again though, this proves to slow for PVP situations and half my team is dead by time I get situated with a character and new focus (or have to switch characters and focus cause one of my team dies from them).

What I want to know ... is there a in game macro for targetting group leader? If I can just focus my group leader...I can put a non-passable key to jamba script my current character to party leader.

For example... now I have

F2 = Focus Mage 1
F3= FocusMage 2
F4 = Focus Mage 3
F = assist the focus.

What I want is:
F2 = Make current character group leader
F = Assist Group leader.

Any suggestions?

Well for all members of a group 'party1' is allways the groupleader. So when a toon is not the groupleader you could use a simple '/assist party1'. Problematic is this for the actual groupleader, as for him 'party1' is one of the other two mages, so you need a setup to actualy take him out of the equation, what 'm actualy at the moment don't know how to do.

his proves to slow for PVP situations and half my team is dead by time I get situated with a character and new focus (or have to switch characters and focus cause one of my team dies from them). I know, you use a focus-based system, but perhaps you might want to have a look in an focusless leaderless targetless-system (ftl),
as one realy cool benefit of it is, that you don't need to 'promote' 'leader-changes', as you do with F2,F3,F4 but its allways simply defined by which window you active playing. If you ned ny help therfor feel free to ask. The principle System idea can be found in the wiki ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Focusless_Targetless_Leaderless_Setup') .

If you use keyclone you could make a keymap that does something like F1 -> F

On the F1 key bind the macro for jamba

/jamba setmeasleader

On the F key bind the macro

/follow party1 or /assist party1

Now whatever window has focus will become the leader, and the others will get the command to follow or assist the party leader. You obvioulsy have all the other targetting business figured out so that should be all you need. his setup will be identical for every character. It also frees up the F2 and F3 keys for you.

Olipcs, your always helpful, but for the life of me, I just don't have the skills or time to dive into these processes. I dropped computer science as my major a year into it...and this just makes me think about all those times yet again! I think honestly...looking at the focusless, leaderless setup... I think I'm just currently too lazy to figure it out. But I appreciate the help, alot.

Bettysue...I think this is exactly the thing I was looking for (while still maintaining a focus based setup).

Doing this... you wouldn't even need to hit the second key right? The purpose is just to have it linked for when the window is not focused?

The keymap in keyclone would actually hit the "F" key for you on every toon but the one with current mouse focus. So you don't need to even have the key that has the follow macro on it visible. When you hit F1 on the toon with focus it would become leader and keyclone would send F to the others. Anywho good luck I used the focus system for a while before finally switching to the FTL, you're absolutely right in your description of it being a bad CompSci project :D
