Ugh!

I run 1 DK+4 Shaman. My DK is uncrittable and has 27k hp unbuffed with just over 50% avoidance. The Shaman have 13k hp, 12.5k mana, and have about 1450 spell damage (They're in quest blues and greens). I've spent about 6 hours attempting various heroics over the past 3 days and the only bosses I've downed are Moorabi (Gundrak) once and the miniboss in Nexus. Every other boss I've tried has lived. A few I got close (30% or lower) but many just seemed impossible. All of the trash is cake, but so many of the bosses just seem too intensive to tank+heal+move.

Is this a gear issue or am I scrubbish? I'm debating just maxxing some reps and getting all the purple gear I can from them and then coming back to heroics. Any thoughts?

Work on getting your shamans more intellect, I'm currently at 15k and most heroic fights I have enough but I still regularly have to down a runic mana potion. I think your main problem is running oom before the boss dies, no? :p

Some bosses might be easier with a better group balance. A mage and warlock in that mix might double your dps.

Yeah, mana has been an issue in a lot of fights. More so it seems like a lack of DPS is what's doing me in. I can't get through the HP of a boss before whatever special thing he does kills me. Shrug.

Shrug. It comes in time with gear and experience. Realistically heroics aren't made for people still mostly in questing items. They were meant for you to be in mostly crafted/normal mode instance drops.

Try making one shaman a dedicated healer, that made things much easier on me personally. You outgear my team by a good margin and I've been able to clear every heroic I've attempted thus far ( with about 5-15 wipes on the first run throughs ). My tank has about 19.6k hp, my shamans are sitting around 1100 spell power 22% crit unbuffed.

In Burning Crusade, heroic difficulty was basically on par with Kara (early T4 content).

It makes sense for Wrath heroics to be on par with Naxx 10.

If you're not ready for one, then you're not ready for the other as well.
That is not to say, its not worth trying more, as you'll learn the tactics and the correct responses will become instinctive over time.
Upgrade your gear from non-heroics and any questline that has gear which is an upgrade.

For early Kara play, when no one had T5/T6 level gear to carry someone else's alts, everyone needed full blue gear or the green gear that should have been blue (a lot of Feral gear for example) before the raid had a chance to progress.
With a boxing team starting heroics, the lowest denominator applies. None of your toons overgears what you're doing, so they all need the best gear they can have to succeed.

If you can beat a few bosses already, farm the crap out of them every day. The badges will add up, and result in a significant upgrade in a couple of weeks.
The bosses which you are closest to beating are the ones to focus on, try them daily, you'll eventually get them and increase your badges per day for your team.
You'll reach a point for each boss, where suddenly the fight is winnable where before it was not -- that is a rush.
In the meantime, seek out upgrades as you can and you'll be moving in the right direction.

I really appreciate the positive sentiments everyone has left :) Thanks for the pick me up, it worked!

I only have a couple of teams at 72.8 or so thus far, so heroics are a ways off for me.

However, I was browsing through the Naxx loot tables for fun the other day and was interested to note that the heroic 5-mans loot has equal item values to Naxx. This means they have significantly upgraded heroic item values in WotLK heroics as compared to BC heroics (where the item values were far less than Kara).

Given this, it makes sense that WotLK heroics would be harder.

We'll all get them eventually, keep it up. :)

10-man's and heroics drop the lower badges, while 25-man's drop the higher badges.

There are vendors for both lower badges and higher badges.
