Well, as the title might suggest, I have 2 warlocks. And they're going to ding 50 tomorrow. Do you guys think it's worth speccing over to demo to get felguard? If I were solo, I would definitely go for it, but is it the same for a dual-boxer or would I be better off with the higher DoT damage staying in affliction? I respecced a couple times when I was lower level, so it's 25g or so...which I can afford, but I also don't want to throw it away if affliction is clearly superior.
FWIW, these chars are my first attempt at multiboxing, I joined mostly for the RaF bonus but have found it to be loads of fun in other respects as well. Thanks for your help in advance, this forum is the single best resource a new boxer could ask for.

Well, i would be tempted to try to demonforms tbh.
But just try everything and see what fits your style the best, can't go wrong really

Spec demo - i found i was killing far quicker once i respecced my multibox locks and was running felguards
Demo imba, better survivabillity, and lower mana wasting...

For a boxer, demo all the way.
The felguard will be a pretty significant portion of your dps and its largely passive. Low micro. Good for boxers. Just set pet on target and forget.
Also, as other posters mentioned its a high survivability spec to boot.

I am a huge fan of the DoT and run technique. Demo, or Destro for that matter, is much faster on single target mobs them Affliction. With Affliction though you should be able to easily kill 10 mobs at your level at a time and do that 4 or more times without resting. Keep the Succy out, turn off anything that uses mana (lash of pain etc) her mana is yours with Dark Pact. DoT crap up and run around. Siphon life x10 will keep your HP up, if you need to drain tank one after it is all dotted up.
I haven't seriously played a lock in a while but I did this leveling solo and was doinf 4-6 mobs at a time. The only thing that has ever leveled faster for me was my prot pally AoE hunting.

I got back on my lock team, reshuffled the other 2 tank/healers, and now am running 1 feral druid tank, 1 shadow priest (who heals well enough as shadow with like zero gear Thanks RAF!) and 3 locks.
I originally ran them with 2 paladins, my main 70 tankadin as a booster, and another paladin, because I like paladins, they got a free lvl 30 mount, and I wanted to make another toon to be a 'booster' for toons on my main account (this was all before RAF, so I didn't pursue that route, and just quested in 5 man teams once I got RAF) I originally spec'd them as Affliction, so I could make a simple button mash macro that did most of the work for me. I also had the holy paladin spamming Flash of Light on whoever had aggro, and it worked in Hellfire Ramps (but keep in mind i was running a 70 paladin tank...)
Now, with the new makeup, with RAF toons added in, and spec'd demonology, It's so friggin easy! I feel like I'm running hunters with Boars, but with spells instead of arrows, with more utility. Now, I just put a few dots on it, send felguards in, and wait for mob to die. If I get in a pinch, I can hellfirex3/tranquility on druid and priest AoE Heals. If I get in a real bind, Demonology x 3 immolation aura, and more hellfire.
Not sure how 2 locks would go, but I think having the felguards as personal tanks would be a real boon. All locks have instant corruption now, so that takes away one reason for going affliction. Just DoT and send felguards in, and keep repeating. For elites, or bosses, just do more DoTs first, and SB spam :)

Of course it kills quicker. Affliction is about inevitable death, not quick death.

Hello
Having played and grinded with my old warlock for ages i would advice you to go afliction for while leveling and grinding. Its a lot easier to conserve mana and you get less downtime. Specc one of the locks so you get improved curse of elements and that other talent which reduces melee damage from mobs by 5% (5/5 shadow embrace) . Spec both locks so you get 2*instant howl of terror and you will be godly. Use imps on both chars as mana batteries and find places to grind where there are tons of mobs so you can dot and run without taking breaks. Also have the lock that specs into imp curse of elements use that all the time instead of curse of agony. When i was grinding with my old lock I was doing nearly as much overall damage on mobs using curse of shadows as curse of agony and with 2 locks together you will se nice dps increase. Never let yourself get to full hp unless you have full mana and also get the talent improved drain soul. Mana will never be an issuse for you. You will also need to get an addon that automatically deletes shards for you or else your bags will quickly fill up.
Good luck and have fun with your locks ;D

I'd like to also state that aff is the way to go for grinding and leveling, if you manage to run out of mana or even get low you are doing something seriously wrong with this build. This is a DoT, Dot, Dot, Dot run away/fear specc and you should have amazing DPS in groups/raid also.
On trash depending on how long they last, either pump up a Curse of Shadows, corruption and maybe one more. Then go for Shadow Bolts. Grinding just just be DoT's and keep distance with the curse or fear, two Aff locks would be insane DPS wise. Curse of Doom is so funny if you have the crit effect from Shadow Bolt on it does 20% or whatever damage more, that's allot! (If you can wait the minute it takes to get off:P )
I would still advice you to go aff, you will be DoTing everything you can see, and the problem won't be mana but the lack of avalable mobs to kill :)

Well, my mind is made up, but I thought I'd post my own thoughts for any who might search this out later. I tried aff for about 1 level(60-61) and wasn't doing all that well with it in the outlands(even after I picked up some half decent spell damage gear). Haunt is not nearly as useful as it looks just reading the description, and survivability is an issue if you just use imps as a mana battery and effectively have no pets. I also don't like using fear unless I'm desperate, so perhaps I was making a few mistakes in there
at 61 I switched over to demo, and I can say with certainty that I don't intend to go back. I'm 63 now and loving every minute of it. Felguards are just awesome, both in appearance(not that important, but the cool factor has to play in a little bit), dps and survivability. Also, Metamorphosis+immo aura=more or less instant win in equally matched pvp and especially in pve. I can drag 10 mobs to me in meta form and then pop immo and they all die within 15 seconds. And immo and the huge spell damage increase from meta give me a good edge in pvp. I've had about 30 instances of world pvp in the last few days and lost 3 of them. And even those were only when the enemy was significantly higher, outnumbered me, or attacked me after a particularly nasty fight when I had low hp.
these are just my thoughts, you might have different opinions, and I'm sure things will change once I hit 80 and start instance runs. I just thought it might be helpful to anyone else going the lock route to read my experiences.
PS---an important side note which most of you already know is DO NOT go felguard until level 56, he royally sucks before that and doesn't have any of his abilities. I'd go beyond that even to say not to switch till 60 when you get meta form.
