View Full Version : A bit of a worry

A couple of threads posted by a multiboxer in the EU General forum give cause for concern:

If these are taken at face value, then "Multiple accounting" has now been designated as against the rules. Nice of Blizzard to warn us in advance if this is true.

Of course, it could just be a trolling attempt, although the posters persistence in creating a second thread after his first was locked is unusual for a troll. Or it could be just a GM ignorant of policy.

I've emailed wowconcernseu@blizzard.com for clarification anyway, although it could take weeks to get a reply.

Did anyone notice a change with regards to this in the TOS? I know I didn't read it before clicking accept, hoping someone else did :P

I did a search and can't find anything about "Multiple Accounting" other than the post linked too.

I also pulled up the current ToS, and there is no match for "Multiple Accounting", "Multiple" or "Mult"..not that really means anything.

But, I'd be really curious to know:

1. What software they were using.
2. If the accounts were all in their name.
3. What were they doing with the items/gold they were farming...

WTF?! Indeed

So wait, blizard doesn't inform us about changes in TOS, they just wait untill ppl has get 2-5 or 10+ copies of LK and then they drop a bomb.. Great.

Whoaaaaaaa! Let's not jump to conclusions here.

We have seen "1" poster's comments about it, and we don't have all the details. And most likely, we won't ever have all the details.
Also, we don't know if the ToS even changed, since I'd venture to say no one keeps a copy of them all. ;)

Just because it was posted on the WOW forums does not mean it's true. Being posted on a level 5 alt does not convince me much either.

Just because it was posted on the WOW forums does not mean it's true. Being posted on a level 5 alt does not convince me much either.Exactly! This could very well be someone trolling the WoW boards (I know, I know, that's unheard of!).
They may not even have more than 1 account and are just trying to stir up problems.

However, if Blizzard have changed policy without notification after I've spent over £100 upgrading all my accounts to Lich King, then I'll be demanding a refund for that.

My guess is accountsharing if it's true at all.

Oh come on! Obvious troll is obvious.
'multiple accounting'? :D that's so obviously made up.

[edit] The second topic even ends with "Let the trolling begin!"

Hi Elgahar.

Our policies regarding 'Multiboxing' remain unchanged since the term itself was created and introduced to the Gaming community.

So long as player maintains control of the characters in question and their game play is not automated, then our policy allows for multiboxing to take place.

OK, panic over.

Problem averted, yea.

For future reference everyone should have a copy of the latest ELUA and TOS in their install directory under data\enUS (or whatever your localization is). They are both HTML files.

You people keep falling for these trolls every time, don't you? :)

Next time verify the source. As long as it isn't a blizzard rep, its probably fake.

My friend just got banned. He said it was for only playing one toon. WTF Blizzard. He's going to take his single monthly subcription and go place something else. Screw you BLUE!

There is a quest in the game that gives a solo person the ability to multibox. I cant remember the name of it but I guess it gives them multiple guys to control. I think the devs did that for fun. Multiboxing is the next step in a mmorpg. It's like evolution.

Multiple accounting to me sounds like someone with multiple accounts in different names. either way I am sure its bogus. Blizzard encourages multiple accounts. Think about character transfers. You can only transfer a character to a new account if that new account is in your name.......

i wouldn't be surprised if they got banned for 'account sharing' because they were using a friend's account to multibox, and just changed the reason from 'account sharing' to 'multiple accounting'(<-- lol) to throw people off

this will never be an issue.

so long as there is a parent that will pay for their own account plus the accounts of their children, all under the parent's name... it will never be against the TOS.

now... calm down... take this paper bag... breathe slowly...

Seriously whats with half the people in this community falling for the exact same thing every time even when its obviously some idiot troll that made something up. I swear one made up post by an idiot on the WoW forums has half this community screaming that we're all in trouble. It gets old really fast and some people here are extremely gullible.
