I haven’t made it too far into the new content, but I’ve checked out some sites to view the new armor models. Is everything the same (or almost the same) model with a different color, or am I missing something?
Even the epic drops seem to have the same look as greens/blues.

Your right.. its all the same stuff recoloured.

I hope its just placeholder untill the art department can come up with something better / original.

Sigh.. not that it's game affecting.. but there still seems to be Plate pieces from TBC that all have the same look too..

And some of those even look like leather! :S

I doubt this will be a high priority for Blizzard.

Umm...

They did the exact same thing when BC hit. Re-used lots of pre-bc art models recolored.

This is the way of WoW. get used to it. :)Right, and I'm still waiting on them to update most of the BC stuff too. :P

I have now rail-roaded my own thread and this is now about platemail thongs, my friend..

I realize the new zone is "cold" but my Draenie Paladin has furry feet!
And my Blood Elf Death Knight...is dead..or something.

But on a side note, I'm sure you are right...I just need to wait.
Besides, by the time I'm high enough level to wear the armor, they'll release another expansion anyway.

The armor seems bleh but I do think the weapons look amazing.

I don't mind the muted colors now because it beats looking like a clown for 10 levels, but I am assuming that the epic stuff will look significantly better than what I have seen so far. I think "epic" should look amazing, with glowing eyes and flaming hilts and all sorts of cool stuff.

Also, since one of my team is a pally and this is my first pally ever I really want that "shining holy gold" look at some point. I saw a paladin yesterday still in his T5 or 6 gear and he looked like a Archangel coming down to smite the wicked... it was rockin.

Gear = stats and gear = style and that is a big part of the game for a lot of people.

I am LOVING the toned down - more medieval looking armor.

No more clown bullshit from Outlands. Looks more like a traditional fantasy game.

This.

Seriously, Outlands gear looked like it was designed for the Maridgras...all that was missing were beads.

Cheers,
S.

Looks more like a traditional fantasy game. Don't get me wrong, I like some of the medievel stuff. But I want a little variety...and my paladin should look like the girl in the Heavy Metal movie... :whistling:

Personally, I love the Earthy tones. Makes a nice change of pace. Also, I freaking love the newly designed buildings. Walked in to the Inn and said 'This isn't the same Inn they build all across Azeroth!' Same thing with the Keep. Totally blew my mind.

I'm not a huge fan of giant glowy epics either. Its cool if there are only one or two, but when everyone and their dog has glowing blue eyes, lightning playing across their shoulders, and weapons so huge there is no way they could be effective, not to mention the 200 spikes that would easily break off, the whole thing kind of loses its charm.

Paladins should look like paladins, not like they fell in to a vat of rock candy after taking a swim, dammit.

I'm more a fan of the D&D fantasy art armor, than the plane-jane old world armor. /shrug

But I don't care too much for the BC clown costumes either..

Reminds me of that 1970's Electric Horseman movie...it too was also crap! =P

Ahhh good point!

Let me ask you this though…when did tucking your boots into your pants legs come back into fashion???

What? They never said they were going to update that stuff? I had thought they clearly said that (re)using old models was a choice made in development to speed up design time and to allow them to focus on other aspects of the game? That's what I remember them saying, too. They put a lot of new models in the game, for mobs and architecture, after all, they have to streamline somewhere.

I'm having more issues with a lot of the quest rewards being very similar, I never know what to keep and equip, or what to DE/toss! :) My lock, druid and mage have full bags of gear and rings and trinkets, and I can't figure out what's safe to get rid of.

- I like much better the color themes in wotlk
- the quest rewards could have used a bit more variety (take some of the nicer old world dungeon drops and retexture them at least)

I would say that this is a case where putting a few more people on it would have been justified. Yes we'll quickly outlevel that gear but I'd still like some variety while leveling. I'm not a big fun of the whole 'things are going to be much better once you get to end game'. Hue shifting the same texture is just cheap.. I know I do this for a living. They did have the time/money to do this better.. just chose not to. Don't get me started on the whole druids forms..

But the drops so far have been pretty bland, have to agree - I think we all got spoiled with BC, there were so many cool looking gears even at 71-2, now it's pretty dull. I just made some of the leather patterns for my druid, and they're downright UGLY. Luckily they're not much of an upgrade, so I'm sticking with my BC gear, for now.

I've been checking out the dressing room every time a set of robes drops (just interested in how they'd look on my priest and she levels with my hunter - most of them aren't upgrades yet anyhow). They all look the same, and I mean the same. It's one thing to reuse things and recolor them, but every single quest-reward set of robes (and random green drop robes) from level 70-75 is exactly the same drab thing, with maybe the slightest color differences. They only designed one set of robes until PVP or End-game gear?
