How do you guys handle healing your pally?

I pretty much just have all 4 of my shammies just healing him, but sometimes when he takes a huge hit to damage, I need to get the heal off ASAP and sometimes I don't get it (cause my shammies are busy casting LB) when I hit the button. I don't usually spam my heal button, but is there a way to set my macros up that I can hit the button 1-2 times and it will stop everything and heal him?

I tried using stop casting before my heal portion of the macro but it just cancels everything out.

What you want is /stopcasting. I am not sure what problem you are having with it but if you want to stop what ever you are doing and heal than that is /stopcasting. The biggest hurdle should be getting out of the habit of spamming the button. spamming button and /stopcasting are not your friend.

Why do you have all your shamans healing? I use just one who usually alternates between LB and Heal. If things get hairy I will pop insta cast or hit the modifier to heal-all.

This is how I started. Worked fine until level 70 instances. Then I needed a resto shaman / dedicated healer

I am wondering if I will need to do the same. I just hit 70 with my boys and actually leveled with a resto shaman but recently changed it over to all elem.
I have a druid in the mix and while having Moonkin buff in the group is great for the quick PvE encounter that does not requires totems I am thinking of having him go Resto for all the Hots.

I think I will just have to add stop casting to the macro and hope to hell I learn not to spam the button..lol

Its easier for me just to have all 4 heal my tank to full then have one of them do it.

I've thought about changing one over to resto, but I have yet to do it.

hrmm I am an idiot. It is the simplest things that seems to elude me.....
I will have to give this a whirl.

Well, don't spam the button before the healing spell is cast, or you will never cast a heal.

That's how I'm set up; I have one of those targeted to each of my 5 toons running on F1-F5, corresponding to party order. I frantically spam my dps button but gently and lovingly tap my heal button only once per cast. Takes a little getting used to if you're a chronic button spammer, but it's FTW.

I think tapping it twice is the way to go.

For the record, dedicated healer is 100% unnecessary with 5xshammy or pally+4xshammy combos. This includes all lvl 70 heroics dungeons and the first few bosses of even Kara. For wotlk, I've cleared the first few instances with pally+shammy using nothing but the very basic 4x /cast Lesser Healing Wave [target=focustargettarget]. Things are actually easier with more dps in most cases. My guess is you just need a better geared tank. First question I'd ask the combatlog is what hit him for how much.. and why. Lack of defence? or too low stamina? Personally I'd rather fix the problem instead of covering it up with a dedicated healer.

i had one of my shamans ele and resto spec kind of hybrid you could say. i would buff his weapon with earthliving weapon

the macro i would use was
/cast [nomod] lightning bolt
/cast [mod:shift,target=focus] lesser healing wave

worked like a charm just needed his heal

the other shamans would continue casting lightning bolt

now for an emergency heal i used
/stopcasting [harm]
/cast tidal focus [harm]
/target [target=focus]
/cast natures swiftness
/cast healing wave

the key i had this bound to also triggered my palidans divine protection.

all my shamans also have this added to lightning bolt
/cast [target=focustargetarget] lesser healing wave

this way if i lost aggro they would all heal whatever my target was targeting.. chain heal spam is good but its 3 secs.. this is more of an "oh Sh**" heal

I like your added part to your LB but I don't think I would add that myself, but have it as a seperate button but still good though.
