View Full Version : This group works pretty well

Since northrend on my server is still very crowded, I got bored of it and decided to mess around with another group. I took the druid tank and completely outfitted her in bc gear off the AH, she has 7900 freaking health buffed with motw @ lvl 60! That's insane to me. She basically takes no dmg in ramps too.
As you can see in the pic, the rest of the group has really crappy stats. They only have 2 or 3 pieces of BC gear. Just messed around with the first few pulls and ramps and they were trivial. I can see myself running into mana issues because the druids have a really small mana pool now. The shaman doesn't even have her water totem yet.
Sadly totem of wrath's crit does not stack with moonkin aura's crit, but everyone still gets the spellpower.
I've never tanked with a druid before, nor healed. Yet I ran into no issues while playing the group. It's going to take some practice not having a shield, or flash heal......not to mention no consecrate, fort, AI, conjured water, sheep....etc. I'm not even sure how you build threat as a druid.

Totem of Wrath debuffs the mob, increasing the chance it will be critically hit by 3%. This stacks with every other crit enhancer in the game. The shaman ability which is inferior to the druid version, and will not stack with the druid crit increase is Elemental Oath, which increases crit chance for 15 seconds after the shaman has a critical hit.
Gear will come as you level up. If you don't have a lot of BC level gear, then the Wrath level gear will be that much of an increase immediately. I believe the first quest reward, maybe 3rd quest in the initial quest chain, was a spell damage weapon comparable to the the Kara Prince / Gruul caster weapon.

Except, you know, Heart of the Crusader. Oh, and Master Poisoner. So...no, totally false.
The new mechanic follows a very simple rule - buffs and debuffs that do the same thing do not stack, with the only exception being if it can explicilty stack charges (like Winter's Chill). Which is a different mechanic anyway, since the buff/debuff is balanced around a completed "stack" and the point is to make it take longer to apply.

Druid tanking is not really different from any other, however, there is no spike damage due to shields. There is no shield. But because you have no shields, your loss of health will go down at a lot steadier rate than someone with a shield. you might find it easier to heal.
Your mitigation comes from armor, stamina and especially dodge. Try to get some trickets that will increase your agi or dodge, even health for a limited time. These will help you in dire emergencies.
Remember, as a bear, you get frenzied rejuv. this not only heals you, but adds to your healing threat.
Thorns up always.
Swipe away!
Remember though, swipe to keep all mobs on you, but work on the indiviual.
I'd start off with nothing but swipes until i know everyone's aggro'ed on me.
Mangle, Lacerate. Stack to 3, Mangle, Lacerate til 5 stack. throw in a swipe here or there. IF you have the Maul glyph, use that as it will hit multiple mobs.
DO get infected wounds.
You dont need to max out survival of the fittest until you need to go uncritable. (ie. level 61 boss vs. you at level 61 requires 5% crit mitigation)
Remember your growls, taunts, and demoraor and you're golden.

Ok.. let's make this very simple..
In a druid and shaman group, the druid does not bring anything which will not stack with Totem of Wrath. (It's Elemental Oath that won't stack with Druid stuff).
Even in a group with a paladin, who can talent for 3% crit debuff talent, Totem of Wrath brings 280 spell power (at 80th).
The class with a buff which will not stack with the spell power portion of Totem of Wrath is a Demonology Warlock and they need to have 2800 spell power before their buff is the better of the two.
The original poster's group is Druid (tank), Shaman, Druid x3 (Moonkin DPS).
No paladin in the group, so Totem of Wrath grants the group a useful 3% crit increasing debuff.
No demo warlock with massive spell power (more then is currently in the game is required before it supercedes ToW), so Totem of Wrath grants its bonus damage too.
In short, everything Totem of Wrath grants is a benefit to this group.

Hi double negative are you saying "druids bring stuff that will stack with totem of wrath" or "druids don't bring stuff which stack with totem of wrath"
What about the earth and moon debuff on the mobs that increases the ammount of damage spells do to it? Just b/c Elemental Oath does stack with the moonkin buff doesn't mean this is a bad thing. 2 free points for the shammies imo.
