View Full Version : WotLK vehicles and loss of focus

So with Wrath came the whole new wow game mechanic, driving vehicles, may it be a giant, a robot, a dragon, a shredder, ...
Things is, when your main jumps into one, every party member loses the focus - not a big problem
But... even if we can remake focus the desired unit, it's simply not "reacheable", meaning that other toons won't be able to accept command based on focus.
In the case of the follow, if you just let them keep following, it'll do the thing (like in the shredder daily).
But what about when everyone has to clinb on vejicles and actually do stuff? I don't mean the quests like the bombardment in Icecrown, since they fly alone and you just shoot whatever moves, I speak about Ocullus as I believe everyone will be flying one and tank and dps and heal. Has anyone tried it yet? Is the dragon's fly path linear or we actually "drive" them?
Or is it the first non boxeable instance in WoW?
As a last question, has anyone been able to find a solution for this? I mean the loss of focus related actions?
Thank you.
Dont think its a loss of focus issue to me, its more like a loss of follow for me.

This is the problem exactly. If focus is lost, it's not as such a problem as when /follow doesn't work. For example if focus is lost, just /target mainnamehere and /follow. If /follow doesn't work, it's very difficult to get all characters moving the same direction.

Yes, I think WOTLK hates dual boxers :p
I've been able to do some vehicle quests by just having my others tag along on normal mounts behind.... they seem to be able to follow ok ... it's when theyre in the vehicle mode that they don't seem to be able to follow (this is what I've seen anyway)

I did Oculus tonight, and I won't be back to that instance unless they change some mechanics. I wasted a lot of time downing the first 3 bosses and didn't even attempt the last one when I found out it was an entirely dragon driven fight. F it, I was done with that place.

I think that on the other hand you cannot assist, target focus, etc even if the good unit is set as focus. It's like the unit being in another continent.

You are correct. if your guys are on follow as u get on they will continue to follow.. but if they lose follow for what ever reason you will not be able to get them following again unless u start over. However its not really a problem if u are good at distance, most of the quests that require you to control something if u try to complete the quest near your other party members 9 times out of 10 they will get the credit.

Just a helpful note: Most vehicular quests can be done if you stick your followers, alive or dead, in the place where the quest would complete. For example, in Zul'Drak there's a quest where you ride the back of a storm giant. Stick the alts around the area where the bosses spawn. Even if they can't see what's happening at all, if they're in the same area, they complete the quest.

I've found this to work for me - with vehicle quests, jump in the vehicle on your main only - the mounted alts will continue to follow the main as long as follow doesnt get broken. Then go around and kill the quest mobs - killing quest mobs on your main should also then update it for you alts as well.

I don't recall if it was a thread here or somewhere else, but I recall reading about that Traveler's Tundra Mammoth (3 person mount) , being considered a vehicle rather than a regular mount. Was tempted to buy on one of my toons but it wouldn't leave me much coin left to help level professions and get mounts for some other alts. Just thought I'd throw that in there in case anyone was leaning towards these for their main toon. Or if any of you have already bought one perhaps you can confirm how exactly it works.

I bet you would have to manually control each character to make them jump on the mount, don't think there is a slash command for it. /lame on
I have noticed lots of quests in Lich King that are definitely not MBer friendly, namely the RIDICULOUS amounts of drop and collect quests I have run into... I just want to kill stuff damnit.

These open top vehicles that you can shoot off of, is it possible to use these with your alts and just run around and /target and kill things? Granted you'd have to enter with all at the same time supposedly...
