Different type of computing. That's for stream applications, stuff like rendering, 3d animation, etc.
But you're seeing the tip of the iceberg with gpu stuff. Adobe's photoshop and other apps are just now using GPUs to speed up operations and some video editors will use the cpu for enhancing the render.
I'm just twiddling my thumbs for when Sony Vegas will use gpus.

AMD will put gpu or stream processors with regular processors as well. Can be used in games to accelerate physics, artificial intelligence, etc. Imagine an instance where the bosses "think" for themselves and fight you depending on the group make up, spells being used, formation, etc.
