View Full Version : [WoW] Is WotLK faster than TBC?

I guess I didn't really pay much attention when TBC launched. I was still a very nascent player at the time, rarely raided, etc. so maybe I just didn't notice but it sure doesn't seem like people leveled/accomplished nearly as fast. I'm feeling so left behind because I can't play during the week due to work issues. I played just about every waking moment last weekend and still didn't quite make it to 72. I didn't really worry about it though because I didn't expect EVERYONE else to be at 80 by this weekend, let alone clearing heroics and running Naxx. A big reason I changed my group lineup was because I want to PvP with a druid but I'm already so far behind the curve that I'm starting to doubt I'll be able to hit 80 and gear up before everyone's walking around in Season 5 arena gear and I'll be in the same boat I was in TBC since I started PvP 6 months before WotLK launched.

Iono, maybe it's time to pack it up. Seems like WotLK is forcing people to play hard or GTFO.

I really dont think its a play hard or GTFO expansion. I think its more of a welcome to the world of casual gaming. Take a look at it. The mobs arent hard, the dungeons arent hard, hell the raids/end game isnt even standing a chance. The gear you have on now will last you awhile while you level. Right now my team is level 77 and I have only replaced 1 item on them. The only reason that was replaced is because i never got a descent one in BC.

Dont get so frustrated. Take a step back enjoy the lore and the questing. You will get back on top just not Server First.

Seems like WotLK is forcing people to play hard or GTFO.

I think its the exact opposite. I've been casually solo leveling my druid main and I'll hit 80 later tonight. It is definitely catering to the casual crowd, which is fine imo.

It's not a race, you'll get there when you do.

I've found the initial grind, against the masses, to be slower in this expansion then in Burning Crusade.

But, give it a bit of time, if you want to level up in the least amount of time played, and as there are fewer people in the zones, the time per level will go down. I still have RAF time, so have started Disc Priests and Boomkins for something to do.

In the end, enjoy the ride, its a game so do whatever is most fun to gradually get you to your goals.

for starters, you shouldnt bother yourself with season gear too much. its good stuff and relatively "easy" to get, but teir gear is always better, and you can take your time to aquire it. just my .02 though.

but its def not hard to lvl. im one of the laziest players ive ever known, and im even halfway there. average seems to be about a lvl a day. answer to your initial question though...yes, its faster. but thats good, cause want do you really want to do? reach cap, start doin raids, and making money off of dailies.

You will get back on top just not Server First.im in concurrence. besides, who wants to be server first? =P

Yeah I just noticed the buying Tier 7 with badges this weekend and was like WHOAH!

Actually I was still pretty put out Friday/Saturday with it all. 20% of my guild is already 80 and I finished out the weekend at a rockin 72.

BUT!!!! I found a whole new enjoyment with the game on Sunday. My kids finally got into it! We'd tried playing together several times before and it always ended with either them being bored after 30 minutes or wanting to quit because I yelled at them (yes, I'm a bad father, I know). Yesterday was different though. We started off with some low level rep grind, then ran Stratholme for kicks (and MAYBE a mount :) ), they were still into it so we ran Mechanar (normal) and beat it, then we ran Utgarde and completed all but the last boss before Mom got home and went all postal because we were using her computer. All in all though a good 6 hours of play and they were still ready for more! We would, and don't laugh, group hug after downing a boss and all in all had an awesome time! After they logged I took over their 2 and did a couple of quests but was bored so I went and watched a movie with them instead. Just completely awesome.

So, as a single person and 5 accounts I've been kinda defeated by the climb, but as a family event I'm more stoked than ever and thrilled that we finally have something we can all enjoy together and it's not a sacrifice or excercise in patience for either.

On the play hard bit I mean you have to put in a crazy (perhaps just crazier) amount of time to progress, get stuff etc. Whereas in TBC the individual things were more challenging but more rewarding. I personally prefer something that's harder but doesn't take as long than just grinding for hundreds of hours. Really the game is that way regardless, this just seems to be more a shift towards time spent > skill exercised. Raids don't count though. The crazy schedules and 40 wipes before all 25 people stop doing the one thing that wipes the raid are just not for me.

I completely agree.

leveling my main (protection warrior) i put in maybe 2-3 hours a night, and am definitely moving along quicker than TBC
