Finally got around to taking a screenshot. This is my 5-box on a single machine using keyclone and two monitors (on horizontal span).

I don't know of any monitors that can do 2560 x 1024 so most likely yes. A 30" can do 2560 x 1600 - so it would be POSSIBLE to do on a single 30" but he said it was horizontal spanned so my money is on two 1280 x 1024 17"ers.

sweet setup.

i'd request that you post your hardware and software config for the noobies that may wonder how you did it.

and i hope you post future group shots so we can see how they proceed (multi-boxer photo album of pwnage :) )

Neato! What's the FPS like?

Quad-core Q6660 cpu
8800 GT
WinXP (32-bit)
4-gb of ram.

I use two installs of WoW, one for main, one for alt. Will end up switching to 5, eventually, I think. Only 'helper' software I use is Keyclone. Most of the UI stuff should be somewhat familiar with anyone whose seen the stickies in the 'addon' forum. On the alts, I use the bare minimum.. two-box toolkit, omen (could just use threat 1.0 or whatever the base add-on is for sharing threat info), and automaton.

There's a thread that goes through my buying process. I did this like.. last month... for right around $1000, including all hardware except monitors.

Yes, I am set up on horizontal-span on two 1280x monitors. Only one of them is a 17" LCD.. the other is a 21" CRT that's sorta old but still nice.

Buying two brand-new monitors is on my list for x-mas. Gonna see if I can't sweettalk someone into buying me a new one.

I rarely dip below 50fps on my 'main' screen (in the screenshot, 55 fps). I am very often maxed out (70 is my maxfps).

Multiple harddrives? Whats the load like going into Orgrimmar or similar? Logging in taking forever?

Single hard-drive. The load times don't seem long to me, at all. I'm not sure how much having only two installs effects this.

I'll time it next time I load them.

Greetings,

Just be careful with the size & resolution of those two monitors.

Once you go over 1280 wide each (say 1440 or 1680 for a 20-22 wide screen), you exceed the max resolution of most cards (ie. 2560).

And that's a bit of unchartered territory, I have found out : very hard to figure out how to do it, hardware wise.

Dual cards didn't work for me under XP, constant freezes, seems to be DirectX related.
