I wasn't sure if I should post my small QQ thread here, but ele dps is pretty bad, I'm almost being outdps'ed by our DK that's wearing green quest items, and Im basically in sunwell with some naxx/os pieces, just like the rest of my guild.
I'm currently highest elemental dps shaman for naxx....and I'm still 2nd to last in my guild, basically i do as much dps on patchwerk, as i did pre patch on brut(ad yes, for all You that know why, I know too, its pretty sad still).
So here's my qq post hoping they will do something to fix us, its very disheartening to see how bad had this class become.

I am about to hit Northrend with my 5 top I am hear conflicting reports on DPS some folks are saying wow Lavaburst is amazing at 80 while most say that nothing scales worth a darn. I guess I will find out either way soon.

Lava Burst is Amazing, our PvE DPS isn't though. It's 2 different things :P

For PvP Burst we are still kings.

The blues have said that they want pure dps classes to do better dps than hybrids. So I don't think it is fair to compare our numbers to a mage. A boomkin would be a better comparision imo.

yeah ele shaman DPS is pretty bad at the moment at 80, IN RELATION TO OTHER CLASSES. Yes, for those of us who had mediocore gear its going to be pretty awesome when we hit 80, and it'll be enough to do instances and other stuff, but if you just play a single ele shaman in a group and someone posts damage meters it'll be embarrasing :( even as I'm leveling my pally/mage/3x shaman team, my mage generally does 50% more dmg than my shamans with a terrible spell rotation too (just /castrandom blast, barrage, missiles). For PVP I just don't know enough really, while there is a lot of upfront burst damage, other classes also have lots of upfront burst, and everyone has a ton of HP, so no clue how its going to play out in 5s.

The good thing is that there have been a couple of blue posts that say they know its bad, hopefully it gets fixed in the upcoming patch. I think simple things like upping the lb coefficient and reducing the cooldown on lava burst could help a lot.

If mana is not an issue, working Chain Lightning into the rotation will be more damage then just Lightning Bolt spam between Flame Shocks. That is assuming, no adds who are CC'd and will be hit by the hops.

The best rotation from Elitist Jerks so far, but assuming a perfect stationary fight etc, is:

FS, LvB, CL, LB (Until next LvB), LvB, CL, LB (LB spam until refresh FS).

According to theory craft, it is always better to cast another LB then to wait a partial cast time for another spell to be available; as in... 0.4 seconds until you can LvB, its better to LB then LvB then it is to not-cast until the LvB is ready.

Also according to the math, at certain haste values, our DPS is sub-optimal. These values are: 18.75-20.20, 25.00-26.45, 37.55-39.00 and 47.75-44.90. If you win a piece, and it puts your raid buffed haste into that range, due to the rotation cast times/cooldowns of spells, you're better off banking the upgrade until you get another upgrade and combined they give you haste not in any of those ranges.

Right now my 78 Boomkin is never doing more damage than my 78 Shamans. So, although I hear about all these problems, I have yet to see it.

From what I read druids scale much better and out dps shaman by a large amount. This information is about a month old so it could have changd. Elemental shamans are shit. Go check out the dps forums or the shaman forum. Tons of stuff about how shamans are weak.
