View Full Version : Seperate Forum Idea - Class Specs

How would the host/mods/community feel about adding seperate "sub" forum for specs?
I'm doing a fair bit of research on the various spec options for my 5 class set-up. I'll admit I'm no where near expert in anything other than my main (warlock) and I would call myself super near expert there. ;)
So, I've been looking into various mage specs with the expansion and the problem with primary research on the topic is the complete lack of consideration for a boxer. Elitist Jerks, WoW forums, etc. don't get to the core issues that come with boxing such as monitoring procs (big challenge for mage specs it seems) and general micro concerns.
Did some research on these boards, but the search function brings up way too many threads that are tough to siphon through.
Seems like a dedicated sub forum for multi-boxing class specs might be really useful.
Thoughts?

sounds like a good idea. not so much just specs though but everything like strats, macros etc.
I run a priest group (3 shadow, 1 holy and prot tank) so everything I read on here is just directed at the normal shammy group which means I have to come up with my own strats, doesnt matter so much as its fun anyway but some guides would come in handy.

I thought there might be more interest in this idea.
My regular class forum is the warlock boards. Really good. www.wowmb.com ('http://www.wowmb.com/')
Regular discussion by very respected, knowledgable warlock posters. Sure, the regular mishmash of new posters not willing to use search, but most are and rely on discussions by senior members to learn from.
Sure seems like a subforum dedicated to class specific issues like specs, spell rotations, melee tactics, etc. (Yes, broadening my original idea) might be HIGHLY useful to both senior and new members of this community.
Even if not, I'd love for a senior member of two to let me know why they see it as less than valuable.
Respectfully yours. Thanks.

I'd like to see it posted here in general or in pve section personally, too many sections as it is.
I think what ultimately would be most helpful to all would be when those types of discussion take place... for a few of the more complete and intelligent contributions to make their way to the wiki. being able to go to Wiki -> Classes -> and seeing more builds, strats, ideal classes to work with blah blah would be awesome

Interesting take.
Head over the warlock forums and you're eyes will bleed. ;) I actually like the granularity as it "feels" more organized to me. Obviously, its a personal preference thing.
The wiki, imho, simply hasn't taken hold. The most value I get is from stickied threads at boards like the warlock board I referenced. We used to have similiar, valuable stickied threads at The Ranger's Glade (the original EQ ranger boards..... memories. ;) ). I know we've clearly moved away from stickied threads here and are pushing the wiki.
Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the dialogue.

I'm good with the current setup. With the amount of posts it's pretty easy to keep up. With class forums you'd get the occasional spikes but then it would mostly be dead probably and you'd just need to jump through more sections.

I would tend to lean towards keeping things more or less as they are here - there are plenty of fantastic class-specific communities out there... what might be useful is a sticky with links to those?

Long live the Wiki! If some of the old dudes, and some not so old like meself, would spend 5 minutes at day in the area that they know a bit about and update it piece by piece, it would be viable. I am slowing working on the paladin section. Let's make either a separate spec section there, or a sub-section for specs under each class. The Wiki is a great idea to organize useful information from this site. I see it as the 'cream of the crop' gleaned on the hundred of ideas that float around here.
