Elemental x5. If anything gets to you (that isn't elite) before you kill it, you're doing something wrong :_D
Swapping your main for a tank wouldn't be a bad idea imo.

My advise is to use a Pal or DK tank, and 4 ele shaman, but I'm like level 20 or so.

I second the thought on 5 ele from the start. If you plan on being elemental at 80 then leveling that way would be good practice. While leveling in the old old world pick up anything that has +spell power on it be it leather or cloth. As long as you have a shield equipped you should be good. Once you get to outlands you will have a chance to upgrade all your stuff to +spell power mail which is really nice.

Five shammies -- definitely elemental. Although since xpac came out, I'm replacing my 'main' shammy with my new DK on the same account to see how that works.

Honestly the way that WOTLK is currently, leveling up wise and the way that instances currently appear: I would strongly suggest you to roll something with a tank and healer.
You will also likely want something that gives the COE type debuff in a 3-5 magic user group, COE/Moonkin/DK.
Personally I would do:
Paladin
Moonkin (COE Effect)
Mage
Mage
Restoshaman (Bloodlust - also can lightning bolt ect)
for instances today.
For pvp, probably still 4 shamans/moonkin

I really wish I can 5 box different classes, but as of now, I really cant. I think learning the basic of boxing Shammies may one day let me do more class but I feel now I cant do it yet. I have no so much time to learn as have family and work to manage. :D

Has any 5 box team hit 80 yet? I don't think it is safe to say 5 shaman are dead or alive at this point. I would think most of the problems any group encounters has to do with the clumsly mobilty of all the toons. Which isn't going to go away magically if you add a tank and a healer. Long story short don't count out teams that haven't even had a chance yet.

You need a tank, why would you need a healer with shamen, they can heal a lot can't they? The big edge of the class is they are good dps and good healing. You cast chain heal on the main tank and then it heals those who are low health of the shaman what more could you ask for?
If you multiple classes you have to pick classes that have one super spell that is the best at what they do not "do it all" class like shaman. Causse you will use the best spell most all of the time.
Shaman are just to good though wtih the chain heal and the solid dps of CL or the burst damange of the lava spell. I mean:
Good Healing
Good Burst Damage
Good long term Damage
Not Cloth
Rez
Some CC (hex)
AND THUNDERSTORM! And Tarun is WS also!
I mean really ...

I must not of gotten the memo that 5 dps teams were dead in the water.
I think it is misleading to tell people you need something when another option hasn't been explored. How can you say you need a tank before you have heard any reports from a 5 shaman or any other 5 dps team. If I go into an instance and clear it with 4 healers and a tank does this mean that this is the only way to do it?
Expansion has been out for less than a week give it a little more time before you make absolute claims. Has anyone on this forum attempted a wotlk heroic yet? (solo or multibox either one speak up if you have)

Well, being that you can't really do even Utgarde keep at level 70-71 in quests with 5dps (possibly if you have lots of cc) because the trash simply hits too damn hard, and earth elementals simply suck.
It's probably pretty safe to say that you're in for a future headache.

I know of several 5 shaman teams that have cleared Utgarde keep with no problem. Then there are teams that are having problems clearing it. Gear has alot to do with what and what you won't be able to do. I don't forsee any problems going in there and destroying it. Well maybe the last boss will take some attempts to learn but that is the only problem I see.
Is there any baseline for the new instances? ie preWotlk I was clearing heroic ___ ___ ___ and have no problem yet. I gotta think if you were clearing the hardest heroic (Magister Terrace) the easiest instance in the new expansion shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

As a new Shaman 5 x boxer, I know I am in no position to comment on the issue of instance clearing now. But I will only say I came back to WoW after watching all the 5 man shaman clearing instances and doing 5 man pvp on You Tube. I fully agree that gear and know how is the biggest part in doing PvE or PvP. Thats why I am here to learn. Any instance that is hard now maybe done later it is not the only part of WoW game play. If you are stuck in instance then go questing, you are never stuck with ovly one path in 5 man boxing. :P

If mobs that drop high level gear can be killed without a tank then no guild or group would accept a tank class ....
Thus they have to make encounters require a tank.
Sure you can be way over level or gear and beat an encounter but an EQUAL level/gear team of 4 shaman and 1 tank will take out mobs that 5 shaman cannot.
I have never done a single instance in wow but I am sure that such is the case, else tanking class would have no value at all.
You will just progress (i.e. whats the stongest mob you can kill) slower without a tank is all I am saying.

I don't know how to put this nicely. Sam I wouldn't start giving hints on how to be effective at level 70 or 80 until you achieve these levels.
I mean your point might be valid if you don't need a tank then why are there tank classes. Maybe we can have a more informed discussion in a couple weeks when more people attempt level 80 heroics. I used to think that anything a tank + 4 dps team could do a 5 dps team could. As far as I am concerned this is still the case.
